My girlfriends and I spent the weekend together in this fabulous home. Everything was to perfection. It met every need we could imagine. We had a million plans to enjoy the amenities of Eagle Rock and we barely left the house. Next time we all agreed that we will hit the spa on site. We enjoyed the home so much we ended up spending our time catching up and enjoying each others company. The place had everything we needed and more. This home was nicer than what I could have imagined. It was extremely clean, which is a must for me, as I am extremely picky when it comes to cleanliness and germs. The beds were terrific. Mine was a tempurpedic and when I told my friends how well I slept, they all agreed that they haven't slept that well and so late in years! We had a good laugh about that. The view of the golf course was spectacular, because there was a beautiful snowfall on Saturday, which really enhanced the beauty of it all. We couldn't have asked for much more. Oh yeah, the fireplace both inside and out were spectacular! It felt cozy all weekend long. Everything was new and clean while managing to still have a cabin feel. Every detail of the place seemed thought through, right down to the ceiling fans with carvings of deer in the metal rims around the lights. The owner was so accommodating. She was easy to work with and responded promptly to our many questions prior to arrival. Once there, everything fell into place and the weekend was memorable without a hitch. My girlfriends and I plan on doing this every year to come. I also will be coming back this summer with my husband and children, so that we can enjoy the lake, the golf course, flea marketing and yard sailing. I don't know if I will be able to sneak away for a massage, but I can assure you my 14 year old son and his friends will take full advantage of the indoor basketball courts and the pool. I also know they will enjoy the video games, cable channels and game room down stairs. I guess what I am saying is that if you have an opportunity to rent this place, I suggest you go for it!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The lack of AC was an issue. Would not have rented it if we had know. Almost left and went to lodge for the night. Do not rent this property between May and September.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/2

My family and I booked this property for our summer vacation in late July. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. The most important point to highlight is the fact that the property has no air conditioning, which was unexpected given that it is a relatively new property and a summer rental. As a family with a toddler and an infant, it became far too hot at night inside the house for anyone to sleep, particularly in the bedrooms and loft area even with all the fans running. Also, upon arriving at the property, it became clear that the house was not clean. The musty smell in the basement made it completely inhabitable and other selected areas of the house were particularly filthy including the kitchen, refrigerator (filled with past leftovers, shelves were sticky with spilled food) and microwave (we're not exactly sure what exploded in there, but it was disgusting and unusable). Other things to note is that every closet and drawer was stuffed with a variety of the owner's personal belongings. Also as a family with very young children, we were disconcerted to find a lower cupboard filled with various bottles of already opened hard alcohol. Overall, we were disappointed with the property and left our scheduled week vacation after only one night due to the stifling heat and general condition of the property. Although the house is fairly new, it seemed to have disproportionate wear and tear. As an additional point, beware the man at the front gate of the resort, as he was confrontational since he was not notified in advance of our arrival and accused us of trying to illegally trespass on the property before getting the fact that we had rented a place in the resort for the week. Not a good way to start a family getaway. We have not previously written a review before on the Internet, but we felt inclined in this instance since we would not want another family to end up disappointed and squander their money and vacation by staying here. In short, it is not at all well suited for a family summer rental.Owner response: Yes, the property is not air conditioned and this is not an oversight. We chose not to have airconditioning due to the location in a highly elevated mountain region. We felt it would be unnecessary 90% of the year and it is. You go to the mountains for the clean mountain air and we love and appreciate that. There is a beautiful cross breeze and ceiling fans in every room which are quite adequate and even unnecessary most nights. Regarding the additional comments, we would have to disagree and have never had any issues in the 4 years that we've been renting. I can only hope if you're reading this you have also read the other positive reviews and our repeat guests speak for themselves. As a side note, there was quite a bit of heavy rain this summer that resulted in a slightly damp smell in the basement (which is above ground and has never flooded). The development of Eagle Rock has since installed a trench that keeps the runoff away from the property which has solved the issue along with a brand new dehumidifier. Lastly, the security is there for a reason and anyone who would complain about a few questions upon entering will complain about anything I suppose.

This was our 3rd time renting this house since Oct. Our first 2 stays were during the cold months so we never worried about turning on the AC. However, last week was a little different story. After driving 14 hours from Savannah, GA we showed up to a very hot house. First thing was to turn on the AC to get the house cooled down so we could sleep. Did not take long to figure out that the house did not have AC. So we ended up buying a fan and using the fans at the house. Being from the Hazleton area I understand some people don't have AC ( not like down here in GA where it is a must). However, being this house is not too old and being used as a rental home, I'd recommend to purchase AC window units or put in central air. But other then the AC our stay was nice. The owner emailed and called several times before we arrived (just like she did in the last 2 stays). Plus, the house was clean and ready for us when we arrived.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We started or vacation by arriving and being directed to the lodge to check in. Once at the lodge we were told that we needed to contact the owner as they did not deal with check in for rentals. They contacted her for us and everything was straightened out, but we wasted about 35 minutes getting this taken care of. We had sent an email the Friday before we left to see what we needed to do and never got a response. While we were on the phone with the owner (one of many calls), she had said she had emailed us everything we needed; she didn't. We found our way to the home, which was easy as was getting around the entire Eagle Rock Resort. Once we got into the house, we encountered our next problem. The house was a disgusting mess!!! I am not over exaggerating. We refused to even bring anything into the house because it was so dirty, stuff all over the floors, the counter tops were grimy and there were dirty dishes in the sink. I will not even get into the leftovers in the fridge. We actually had to start a load of wash because there were dirty towels lying around the house, one which seemed to have something like blood on it. The sad part is that we had asked to check in early this day and were told that someone else was in the house the night before, so we would need to check in at 4 so the house would be clean. We got there at 3:30 and this was the condition of the house. We rearranged our plans for the day and still arrived to this mess. After another call to the owner (not our last) we were told "you might need to rough it tonight because I might not be able to get someone to clean" After my wife's insistence we were told "go out " and someone will be there by 6:00 to clean, just leave the door open. So now we had 3 plus hours to do something. We went around the resort, which again was first class and then had to go out to dinner because we could not use the house. Upon our arrival back to the house around 7:30, we came back to find the house cleaner, but none of the beds made. I will get back to this. We unloaded all of our stuff, and finished about 8:30 and wanted to settle in for the night. Back to the unmade beds. After our next call to the owner (you guessed it, not our last) we found out about a "linen fee". Now I have rented from vrbo before and I have rented other condos and homes before, and I have never encountered a "linen fee" where there is an extra charge to use the linens of the house. I have run out of space!!Owner response: I would like to respond simply to this review. I do acknowledge that there was a housekeeping issue which was out of my control and in response I advised the guests to give me approximately 30 minutes to get it straightened out and in the meantime to go out and enjoy the facilities. By 6pm there was a housekeeping crew at the home to clean up from the previous renters. That meant within 2 hours, on a Sunday afternoon, the problem was resolved. Regarding the linens, the guests were offered a linen option which they declined. This fee is for the use and cleaning of linens and towels which is a standard procedure in a house rental. I too have rented properties over the years and have always had to either supply my own or pay a fee. In retaliation, these same guests left the home as they had found it, a mess, which is quite remarkable considering that I waived the cleaning fee for them as they assured me they would leave the home rent ready. Very unfortunate situation for all involved.

Our family decided to start a new tradition by spending Christmas away from home and in the mountains. We were familiar with Eagle Rock Resort and found this property to be everything that it was described to be. An added bonus was that it was pet friendly so we could bring our dog along. The great room adjacent to the kitchen and eating area was the center of activity with the gas fired stove quickly warming up the place. The bedrooms provided the privacy needed when staying with your in-laws. The property was clean and well maintained, but not to the point where we felt we needed to have on white gloves. We took advantage of the linen and cleaning service so we could enjoy every minute we were there. We absolutely loved the outdoor fireplace and used it as the centerpiece of our family photos. The home is located within walking distance of the lodge and skiing and the golf cart path provided a nice walking path for the dog. We will certainly look to this property in the future when we head back to the mountains, whether in the winter or summer.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children.

There are many reasons we intend to rent this property again in the future. The rental process was simple and straightforward, which was important when coming from out of state. Bedroom arrangements were perfect for our family of 5. Our dog was allowed to come with us, unlike many other properties. The house was easy to find, and located on a quiet cul-de-sac. We highly recommend this property to vacationers or anybody looking for real estate at Eagle Rock.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children.

Very nice house! Well kept and comfortable. The only problem is the sound from the industrial park on 924. Very minimal but in such a quite area, it is noticable at night. Close proximity to skiing and on the fairway. We went there for a chance that we would ski but it didn't happen. Good snow on the Thursday, but slopes are weekend only. Tried to sled on the slopes but security denied it. So, we went to Jack Frost and had a great time. Weekend was a washout but the house was cozy and relaxing inside. Food at the resturant was "alright." If you bring your own food, you are probably better off. Service was good. Gym was nice. Great in the summer for golf. PET Friendly! Not a bad getaway from Philly, but not sure we would go back as Caanan Valley, WVA is far superior and same distance for us.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners.
