My Wife and I spent a wonderful week in New York. We deliberately chose to stay outside Manhattan and were lucky enough to find this wonderful apartment. The apartment itself was more that we could have hoped for. We visited in March (which even for a Scottish couple) was really cold, Even though it was bitter cold the apartment was always warm and cosy. Greenpoint itself was a great area, with lots of different things available, the choice of restaurants and coffee shops was excellent. I cant speak highly enough of Jeanne and George, other than to say you'd be a fool not to seriously consider renting this apartmentRecommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

We stayed here for a full week in July and had a great experience from the moment we booked to the day we left. The owner was wonderful and very responsive to what little needs we had - the apartment truly had everything we needed! Not only fully equipped, but spotless - clean, clean, clean! The bed was comfortable, the AC unit worked great (it was really hot during our visit), the bedroom had a 6 drawer dresser (nice to be able to unpack) and a closet, bathroom had a good-sized cabinet to store all toiletries, kitchen was fully stocked with everything you needed to cook with (i.e. pots, pans, etc.) and had an iron and counter top ironing board. Location was great - a safe quiet little street. Up the block is one of the neighborhood's main streets (Manhattan Ave.) with restaurants, coffee shops (local ones, as well as a Starbucks), grocery stores, bars, laundromats, corner markets, etc. The laundromat we used had a drop-off same-day service as long as you dropped off before noon - decently priced and worth it. We worked out everyday at Otom Gym. They charged us $10 per day and was maybe a 6-7 block walk. Franklin Street is really cute too - trendy with more restaurants, shops, bars, etc. To catch the subway (7 Train) it's about a 10-15 minute walk. It's a nice walk with beautiful views of the city - especially at night! To catch the G Train, it's about a 5-7 minute walk. We walked to both of these trains quite a bit, during our stay, late at night and felt safe. We highly recommend this apartment if you're looking for a cool visit to NYC and out of the hustle-n-bustle of the city - you'll love it!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We stayed here in September, 2011 and had a wonderful time. The apartment has been rehabbed in the past 18 months and is clean and neat on a quiet side street. If driving in from out-of-town you could probably even find parking on the nearby streets. The Greenpoint subway stop if four blocks away and we spent extensive time in both Brooklyn and Manhattan eateries. There are dozens of excellent choices these days in Brooklyn (and don't miss Paulie Gee's pizzeria). The owners are friendly and very helpful with neighborhood recommendations.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+.

Wonderfully located on the border of Brooklyn/Queens, in hip up & coming suburb of Greenpoint. Literally 20 minutes on subway to Times Square and the middle of Manhattan. The local area is quiet and has some great restaurants and bars. Access to the G and 7 subway lines make exploring Brooklyn, Queens or Manhattan as easy as you like. Apartment itself is cosy, clean and well appointed. Thanks for a great stay Jeanne, will definitely be back! We had an excellent experience staying at this apartment in Greenpoint. The location and apartment could not have been any better for us. It was very close to shops and restaurants and we had easy access to the subway and Manhattan. The listing information was accurate and the accommodations were exactly as we expected. This is a really comfortable, relaxing place to stay and it is very well appointed. Jeanne and George are excellent hosts, they have thought of all the amenities that make this a wonderful, home away from home. We enjoyed the kitchen and ability to cook a meal or make coffee anytime. I highly recommend this apartment, and don't miss the wonderful sweets from the Polish bakeries located nearby. We will definitely book again here!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

From the moment we arrived, we were so thrilled we chose this place! Jeanne and George greeted us with friendly smiles, made sure we had everything that we needed, and even helped with suggestions on what to see and where to go. The apartment had everything that we needed, and then some! It is a new apartment in a lovely, safe, cool neighborhood. Everything in the apartment was clean, fresh, and it was wonderfully decorated. We felt comfortable and were happy to come back here each day after a busy day of sightseeing. The full kitchen was wonderful to have to make meals if we wanted to, or we just walked up to Manhattan Ave to some great restaurants. It is conveniently located to everything that NYC has to offer. We'll definitely be back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1999
About the owner: We've been living in New York City for over 20 years and have seen much positive change over the years! Married in 1998 in Central Park we are enjoying raising our two boys in the excitement of city life. We decided to settle down in this quiet neighborhood to be close to the city but away from it when we come home. Our family takes advantage of all that New York has to offer including parks, museums, theater and sporting events. Originally from Toronto and Binghamton, NY we cannot imagine feeling more at home any place else but here.
Why the Owner Chose Brooklyn:
We would like to have our guests appreciate our neighborhood and location as much as we do. Staying with us offers vacation travelers a taste of a uniquely diverse Brooklyn neighborhood experience while also enjoying the convenient location to Manhattan. When we travel, we like to "do as the locals do". This is also what we are offering our visitors.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
We are centrally located in the northwest corner of Brooklyn 2 blocks from the East River. We are close to several major bridges and tunnels. Walking distance to public transportation, and Zipcar locations, fabulous restaurants, galleries, bars, live music, delicious Polish meat markets and bargain shopping. We are also a short walk to the 7 train which takes you to 42nd St. in one stop or the US OPEN in the opposite direction. The brand new East River Ferry is a six block walk to India St. and the E. River. We are as close as you can get to Manhattan without staying in it!
Just stay in Greenpoint! You'll be glad you did!
