We had a wonderful stay, the kids had plenty to do and the fishing was great. I would recommend this house and Carol could not have been more honest and up front and we got exactly what she told us we would!! We would go again.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your review and we are so glad you enjoyed the fishing! Come visit again!

A home away from home. Seriously, so welcoming and comfortable. Kids were delighted with the outside fire and making smores. Rented a boat and had a blast. Traveled to the Highlands, hiked and did some fishing....only disappointment - no luck! Plan to return.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, girls getaway, people with disabilities.

Finding a lakefront cabin that has 4 separate bedrooms to actually accommodate 8 people (6 adults and 2 teenagers) that has real cabin ambiance and is also pet friendly was a tall order to fill, but this cabin house did exactly that! Secluded but not isolated, the lake boathouse with canoe and kayaks made for many relaxing afternoons cooling off in the lake. Plenty of room inside the cabin not to feel cramped but amenable for gatherings. Biking on the lakefront road was a fun, vigorous way to get some healthy exercise and a great way to sightsee all the vistas on the lake road. Also enjoyed the hot tub and firepit making s'mores. The only "surprise" was that the boathouse was across the street, but it's a very short walk of only 50 yards, so not a concern. We also enjoyed going in to the little town of Helen to sightsee, float the river, pick up groceries and supplies at the old-style grocery store and go to the old mill store to purchase some genuine milled southern food. Also, all the hiking you can ask for at the nearby gorge. The owners are excellent at communicating and answering any and all questions. Just try to make sure you get as many questions answered ahead of time since for the most part you'll be out of cellphone range, which is actually a blessing of sorts. Have already recommended this property to a very good friend who is also a cabin afficianado and he's really looking forward to scheduling a stay there, too. We fully intend to go back again since we enjoyed ouselves so much and got that laid-back, relaxed vacation you envision anytime you create a mental picture of the perfect mountain getaway retreat!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+, girls getaway.

My wife and 2 dogs rented this house for a week and all 4 of us enjoyed our stay. The back and side of the house sit at the base of the mountain range and has a creek running along the side of the house. We brought our dogs and they loved the backyard (flat area for them to run), creek and lake. The house itself had all the creature comforts of home and well decorated. We used this house as a base camp and explored the surrounding area doing hikes and eating great food. We will go back.Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: We are glad that everyone enjoyed their stay and welcome you all back at any time. Thanks, Carol and David

We spent our 6th wedding anniversary at this cabin and will definitely stay here again. The setting is quite private, the creek next to the house is stunningly beautiful, and the cove on Lake Seed where the boathouse is located is very quiet, beautiful and brimming with fish. The house is awesome - wood everywhere inside, with lots of personal touches and artwork to enjoy. It is beautifully decorated and better equipped than the houses most folks live in - there were two of just about every item you would need or want in the kitchen. The owners have lots of info on things to see & do in the area, restaurant info, maps, etc. If you stayed there a month you still couldn't go through all of the games, books, DVD's, etc., provided. We've stayed in a lot of vacation rentals all over the country for a lot of years, and this is one of the best yet. We will be back, probably with family in tow - it would make a great family reunion venue. Our kitten, Josie, who accompanied us, also gives it 2-paws up :>))Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

We had such a wonderful time at Seal Creek Lake House. There was plenty of room in this beautiful lake home for nine adults. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed and more. We enjoyed grilling and eating together at the table that was large enough for all of us to have plenty of elbow room. Evening found us around the table again playing cards and board games. The bedrooms were comfortable as well. Family room was great also for TV viewing, hanging out or reading. We also enjoyed fishing and swimming at the boat house, a perfect place to tie up our boat. The boat ramp was within sight of the boat house. The surrounding area is beautiful also. We hiked the trails and road our bikes. Plenty of sight seeing areas in the vicinity also. Wish we had been able to stay longer and hope to return again. The owner was quick to respond to all inquiries and sent addtional info and pictures when contacted about the house.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again! Thanks, Carol

My family and I spent the 4th of July at this wonderful home and it couldn't have been more perfect. The lake is the perfect temperature and the boat house has everything you need. If you rent a boat from the local marina or bring your own the boat ramp is 100 ft from the dock. The house has so much mountain charm and spacious enough to escape young kids. The covered porch has great oversized chairs to relax in while you watch a rain storm and there is a fire pit to roast some marshmallows on. The kitchen is gorgeous and we were able to cook every meal and have every utensil we made need which made our trip even more enjoyable. The running stream along the side of the house is so peaceful...what a wonderful oasis.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, age 55+, girls getaway.
