Why the Owner Chose Brookings
Our home is not only right on the ocean, it enjoys balmy summer weather with warmer temperatures unlike ANY other on the Oregon coast (called "the Chetco effect")! It is a wonderful escape from "valley fog" in Medford, even when it is raining in Brookings! We have a beach that is accessed only by ourselves and our neighbors because it has two large rock outcroppings where folks cannot easily access. People are friendly and there is lots to do, which unfortunately keeps us out of the lawn chair! It is a safe, low crime community with clean air and lilly fields, and there is all that wonderful FISH and crab!
The Unique Benefits at this House
Laying on the deck watching the ocean is probably our favorite, but there is rock climbing, tide pools, beach bonfires, boating, biking, wading, golf ~ and did I mention fishing and crabbing??

Owner's Map of Brookings
Mike is from Oregon and so we came to Medford 30 years ago to raise our sons. One of our favorite family outings as the boys grew up was to go to Brookings, camp at the beach and get up (very) early and go fishing. Our guys would get so seasick, but they would keep on fishing for those big salmon and red snapper! Sometimes we would camp in the Redwoods, drift down the Smith River in an inner tube, or get up early for more fishing! Some days we would take a picnic to Harris Beach and our hearty guys would surf, climb the rocks, talk to the seals and explore tide pools. In 2003 we were blessed with an opportunity to buy our awesome ocean front home which seemed too good to be true! Now our family, friends and visitors enjoy a MUCH more comfortable way to make wonderful memories!

Our family of 4 stayed on the Oregon coast for a week last year and we didn't think we could top that vacation...but we did! The Ocean View Cove beach house was the perfect place for our family to create wonderful memories. It has an open split bedroom floor plan, lots of windows with beautiful views, a relaxing hot tub, super comfortable beds and the best beach ever! My kids (9 and 5 years old) went wild over the tide pools and the creatures that live in them. Charter fishing, the Rogue River Mailboats in Gold Beach and Ocean World in Crescent City were fun too!

We stayed a week. You are at the edge of a small bluff over a pebble beach. Excellent views of surf, storms and sunsets! The home was clean and well appointed. We would like to return next year for another week.
Owner response:Your review means a lot to us, as it does to others who are checking out our site, so THANK YOU! We look forward to seeing you next year and be sure to remind us of your "free night" or "free hot tub" as our return guests!

We had a wonderful, relaxing week at this beach house. Our three little girls loved playing on the back porch and at the private beach down below. We also enjoyed short day trips up through Boardman State Park and down into the Redwoods in California. We saw so many whales, including quite a few spouts just out from the house. The house was clean, neat, comfortable, and had everything we needed.

Let's talk winter, as in January 2009, at the "Beach House". 1st, you should know the Redwoods and lots of "daytrips" are close by and the beach house makes an excellent base. Did I do any of this? Of course not! This trip was about reading books, watching and listening to the sea crash over the rocks and race to the sand, mucking about on the shore for newly arrived treasures, living the sunrises and sunsets. Sitting in the rocker and dosing off in the early afternoon. Oh yes, this is the stuff that recharges your soul! The down comforters are just splendid, the beds oh so comfy, and the kitchen is well appointed. Mike and Cathy have taken the Beach House and done something special, it can be your destination or just a great place to stay. The Beach House is on my "A" list. As General McArthur once said "I Shall Return"!

From email: "We just wanted to tell you what a wonderful weekend we had earlier this month at your lovely home on the coast. It was a perfect set up for our family, and the views of the ocean were splendid! As you know, it was a last minute decision to escape our valley fog -- from the beginning, the timing of it all felt meant to be, and finding your house just reaffirmed that. What a blessing the weekend was for all of us."

From email: "Our family enjoyed the amazing ocean view from your rental vacation home. We were excited to see seals on the rocks right from the living room window! We could also see the St. George Reef Lighthouse. Your home was decorated great for a rental on the coast. One of the things I enjoyed was the books you had available for guests. Even though it rained, we still hiked the Redwood trails, went deep-sea fishing, and visited some beaches. Finding unbroken sand dollars was a treasure, and I loved your outside lighthouse."

From a "thank you" note: Your place was all it was promised and much much more! Reading your guest book just said it all over and over! We had sunshine, daffodils and came home to snow, so we will see you in the off-season again! Thanks for the experience, Bud and Ginny Z, Spokane, WA
