We enjoyed our time here. The cabin is secluded with a short walk to the lake. We interacted with the owner Mike and he is very nice. The house is situated on a very big lot with a deck, an area to grill, plenty of parking, a fish house, a separate bonfire area and easy access to the upstairs or downstairs to unload your car. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the lot. Mike makes it clear that the pier leading to the lake is a marshy area and you can't swim. We tried to fish off the pier and brought back weeds with every cast. Mike does supply two non-motorized boats to use to go out further and get away from the weeds. I just wish the cabin had air conditioning (it was very hot the last two days we were there) and the bathroom didn't have a mold smell to it. I just think the shower curtain needs to be replaced - easy fix. The biggest bed is a full size and all the other beds are all twins -- so it's not really conducive for more than one couple. All and all, we had a great time. Mike was nice enough to allow us to bring our two dogs (who are very well behaved). They had such a great time exploring the land and all the new smells. One more note: bring LOTS of bug spray. You are in the Northwoods of Wisconsin and will need it!

Owner response: Yes it is a fishermans frontage. 3 acre lots, very wooded. The bed arrangement is set up for Mom and Dad and children and one adult for the lower level bedroom. As far as the main bathroom. Yes the shower curtain was dirty. Finding good cleaning people in the North woods is hard to find.
This cabin and the location were the perfect place for our family fishing trip. The cabin fit our needs especially having the lower level for fishing rods, tackle boxes, tubing tubes, and everything else that we bring along. This lower area allowed us to keep our clutter out of the main living area and it was much more accessible to our vehicle and the lake. The washer and dryer were a huge plus when you have 3 children with you. This saved me a mid-week trip to the laundromat. The boat launch is located just down the road and is within walking distance. The boat launch and the cabin property offer an abundance of wild life. We saw blue heron, turtles (one we estimate about 75 years old), ducks, a porcupine, deer, multiple species of birds, loons, eagles, etc. During the week we were there, June 16 - 23, it rained but that didn't keep us inside. In between rain drops we went fishing and tubing. No matter where we went on the lake we caught perch, bluegill, bass, crappies and one small musky. While on the lake it was made very clear by a male loon not to come close to the mother with her two babies. This is the time I could have used a video camera. The lake offers access to the Manitowish chain of lakes which we used to take our kayaks out for a good portion of the day. You can start kayaking by the cabin pier on High Lake and go for miles down the Manitowish. We chose to go only as far as the Headwatetrs Bar/Grill. If you enjoy kayaking, the Manitowish is a must! If you don't own kayaks you can rent them in town and they will transport them for a small fee. If you're looking for a good swimming beach/picnic area, just go a few miles on Hwy B to Black Oak Lake. They have a clean sandy beach area that is designated for swimming. We went there twice during the week and both times nobody else was there. It was very quiet other than a few cars going by on the road. After swimming we continued driving into Land O Lakes and found the "Dairy Maid" ice cream stand. I would recommend the large root beer float. My son commented that you could almost fit a child's head into the cup they are soooo big. If you enjoy go-karting you must go to Elmer's in St. Germain. We just happen to drive past "Elmer's" while looking for an archery store in St. Germain. Elmer's has the best go-kart track we have ever seen. Prices were very reasonable. If you enjoy shooting, there is a shooting range on Hwy M as you come into Boulder Junction that we utilized

stayed at the cabin in 2011 and 2012 and enjoyed our stay very much. we will be going back again as we enjoyed the peace and quiet very much. the cabin was very clean. enjoyed going out fishing, going out to high lake and fishtrap lake was no problem.going from the cabin to the end of the dock only took a couple of minutes, liked the walk.finding restaurants was no problem.also we had no problems with the owners, they were very accommodating and willing to work with.

This property was truly ideal for us. We wanted to have a place on a beautiful lake where we could fish. The house and property were clean and tidy, and we were able to spend much of our time on the balcony overlooking the woods. We easily caught pan fish off the pier while watching the loon, bald eagle, and heron. It doesn't get much better than that. We also took advantage of using one of the two provided rowboats. We would definitely recommend this property for those looking for a great fishing vacation. Easy access to a quiet highway was an added bonus for running into town for bait or other supplies and driving to a few different golf courses in the . Thanks for sharing this beautiful spot.

Clean Cabin - Lake Access HORRIBLE
Clean Cabin - Lake Access HORRIBLE
I will start out by saying the cabin is clean, good condition and has everything you could possibly need. All of the beds and furniture are pretty uncomfortable, but what do you expect from an up north cabin. The woods around the cabin is beautiful, but SUPER buggy due to the fact you are right off of the swampy area of High Lake. This was a real problem for us for several reasons: 1) The dock to get out to actual open water is about 200 feet long and you are walking through swamp this whole time. 2) The area at the end of the dock is filled with lily pads and muck – definitely not a good swimming area 3) MOST IMPORTANT – We brought our ski boat up with us. This was a problem due to the fact that the launch was extremely steep and shallow and the area you have to drive through to get to open water is a swamp with many logs and weeds to navigate through. Thankfully my husband and his friend are very experienced boaters and worked it out without an issue. When I spoke to the owner prior to arrival I asked if it was okay if we arrived at 12:00pm (2:00pm is check in time). He stated he didn’t think this would be a problem and told me he would contact me if it was. I never heard from him so figured this was not an issue. We showed up at the cabin at 11:30am and the cabin was locked up tight. Since we were a half hour early I figured we would wait a half hour and see if someone would show up to let us in. At noon we were still locked out so I proceeded to call both contact numbers on my receipt with no answer. We sat outside the cabin with all of our belongings until 1:50pm – when the cleaning lady arrived to let us in. That being said if you plan to stay at this cabin – DO NOT SHOW UP EARLY – even if the owner states it is okay……you will be waiting. Be prepared the take all of your garbage with you. You are not allowed to leave it there – which is kind of a pain. We have stayed up north every summer and have never had to do this. Last but not least – the power went out for several hours one night. According to the owner (which I found out at the end of our trip) this happens quite frequently and sometimes for up to 8-10 hours. All in all I will say we made the best of our trip and had a good time, despite all that is listed above. If you are looking for a cabin to stay at for a fishing trip – this is a perfect place, but for us – it was not what we anticipated. We will not be coming back.

Owner response: Yes the pier is long but you are not walking in a swamp area. We have a fisherman frontage (cat tails, trees and lilly pads). We inform renters that we do not recommend swimming off the pier as we do not have a sandy beach area. We were never asked about the boat landing. Check in time is listed on the site and also when we send them and invoice for the deposit it is also listed there. We have asked renter to take their garbage as our cabin is more like a home not a resort we don't have garbage pick up. We do supply a Boulder bag for the renters to take their garbage to the Boulder recycling center. Which is on the way out of town. This is also listed on the first invoice that the renter receives. If you look at the pictures on the site they say a thousand words.
