This hacienda is definitely a keeper for our return trips. We 3 were attending the Taos Fiber Marketplace this last weekend which was only 3 short blocks away. The house was also well within walking distance to the Plaza and Kit Carson Park. The house is well furnished and very comfortable. Also we felt very secure with the Police Station 2 houses down. But the best part was the owner's and caretaker's concerns over our comfort and ease of use. They really made us feel welcome and feel like returning. THANK YOU!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The whole family went to Taos and stayed here. The size of the house is great. We had more than enough space for our daughters. It also has a nice enclosed yard so even the dog was happy. It also has a lot of closet space which is unusual for a rental property. The location was perfect for the skiers of the group to take the car and the others were able to walk to the square and a lot of restaurants and shops. The owner was pleasant and easy to deal with. It is also a bargain of a price.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, sightseeing.

I rented this property for a trip with girlfriends. The house was fantastic and steps away from Kit Carsen Park and the Plaza area. The next time I plan a trip to Taos I will definately book this house. The bathrooms were roomy, bedrooms spacious, big kitchen and nice living area to wind down at night in.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

This house could not be in a better location. It is across the street from Kit Carson Park, two blocks from the Plaza, and several restaurants are within a short walk. There are grocery stores within a mile of the house. It is large and comfortable. It made our stay in Taos most pleasant and affordable.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Truly outstanding place to stay. Within walking distance of the plaza and great places to eat. Older, sturdy house, but well kept and clean. Comfy living room with dining room and kitchen. Washer/dryer also availble which we took advantage of. Three bedrooms, but there's also a one bedroom cottage out back that's also available for rent. Two baths, so little crowding. Owner prefers two-nite stay, but will consider a one-nite stopover (as he did with us) if it fits into his rental schedule. He will also consider pets with advance notice. Owner and local contact were extremely responsive and helpful. Try the Gorge Bar & Grill (within walking distance) for sandwiches and beer. Also highly recommend the Gutiz about three miles north on the main highway (obviously not within easy walking distance.) Outstanding breakfast at the Gutiz. Recommend your considering this on your next trip to Taos!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, sightseeing.

Great location near plaza and other historic landmarks. As other reviewers have noted, front bedroom is noisy from street traffic as is living room if front door is open. Some routine maintenance would help, such as several lightbulbs were burned out and no replacements were supplied. As a friendly reminder to anyone who does VRBO's, take the local contact information with you when you leave the site; we thought we were locked out (there had been a power failure which may have impacted the situation). Eventually got into the home, but...good lesson learned. Definitely recommend the home to others. We enjoyed day trips to Ghost Ranch, Ojo Caliente, and Bandelier Nat'l Monument.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

we stayed aug 26th thru sept 1st. the owner was very pleasant to deal with on the phone. the house was as advertised. the property was clean., but the fridge was full of leftovers that other folks had behind. should be cleaned out entirely after all visitors. i threw out anything we didnt use before we left the property could use a little tlc. a lot of the kitchenware was broken or had missing parts etc. we couldnt keep the front door open for the noisy road. couldnt hear the tv. thats ok.. we didnt watch much anyhow being on vacation. . i would however recommend this place to others. its within walking distance to shops and restaurants. the ally cantina was my favorite for nacho's.. yummy. and graham's grille is the place to go for a higher quaility meal. .delicious , delicious. thanks for giving us the opportunity to stay at your house at such a great value.. hope to come again .Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway.

With a family of 4 we had an excellent stay of 4 days in this house. Everything worked out fine, and the house is comfortable to stay in. The kitchen gear could be extended, as was indicated by the owner. In fact, we liked the house that much that we could have lived there...Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family just returned from a 2 week stay in Taos. We had a wonderful time. Our stay in the Packard house was one of the high points of our trip! The house is charming and VERY spacious. We were thrilled at how large the rooms were. The house in right in the middle of everything you will want to see and do in Taos. The kitchen was great and really all you need to take is food. The swing on the back porch makes a wonderful place to watch it rain. We also used the casita (which was also very nice). The hostess was very helpful to us and a pleasure to visit with. I hope the Packard House is available the next time we go to Taos!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners.

I live in Albuquerque and came up to Taos for a seminar. This house was absolutely perfect for our stay! The owner is very easy to work with and his caretaker was warm, friendly and hospitable. The location was most excellent for us as we could practically walk to our workshop...close to the plaza, restaurants, shops and the Taos Inn for local music and drinks. Living in New Mexico, I have an appreciation for history and adobe architecture. Staying in this house is a unique opportunity to be directly in touch with those things; sitting in the living room looking out the window and imagining times past, walking down Bent St and gathering lilac blooms from the garden for the dining room table. The house does face the main drag through town. During the day, you can hear the cars. This all ends around 9 pm when folks are home and in bed; the nights were peaceful. If you are wanting an out in the country, middle of no-where experience, this isn't it. If you like being in the middle of it all, then this house is a most enjoyable place to stay! We will come back again! Thank you!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

The owner was very easy to work with and the property lived up to it's description. It was very comfortable and we loved the location. The bedrooms are large and comfortable. We loved the fireplace. It was in walking distance to all the great shops of Taos. We would definitely rent this property again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, sightseeing.

This house is everything it is advertised to be and then some. It is roomy and clean and charming in character. The location could not be better! Everything is convenient to walk to. Even though it is on the main street, it is not noisy at all. We loved the charming fireplace in the living room as a cozy place to relax after skiing and sight seeing. The bedrooms are large and comfy and the kitchen is well equipped also. Yavanne, the lady who takes care of things is very helpful in telling about how to get around in town and where to find what you need and the owner is very friendly and helpful as well. If we ever get to come back to Taos, we would love to stay here again. Thanks!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, sightseeing.

Our second stay here, and we stayed 10 days this time. It is never long enough. We walk in, and we feel like we have returned to our own home! I love being so close to "town", and we seldom moved our van this year. My husband uses a wheelchair, walker and scooter, and getting him in and out of the house is a bit difficult, but worth the trouble. The back bath is nearly completely handicapped accessible, and we appreciate that. Yavanne is wonderful to help with any questions you may have, and David, the owner will sure work with you to see you have a great vacation. I have mixed emotions about writing a review for this property, because I don't want everyone to find out about it!!! I want to keep it to myself! We LOVE staying here, and will always try to come back!!! Just as the pictures do not adequately capture the true beauty of this home, I fear our words will be inadequate as well. First, the owner and caretaker were both so very hospitable. The process simple and stress free. But the home? The home is amazing. It is a five minute walk to the plaza, a two minute walk to Michael's Kitchen (not-to-miss huevos), and a convenient drive to everything else. The fact that it's on the main drag offers two equally pleasing options. You can watch the parade of people and cars in the front, or relax in the back on the swing and escape from it all. Inside, it's home. It is beautiful, of course, but not showy. It is a home comfortable within its own walls and it welcomes all to sit and relax and enjoy. We regret that it was not fireplace weather because I think we could spend hours in front of that fireplace reading, talking, enjoying. We were here for a 50th anniversary and didn't think we'd have time to cook. But the great kitchen was too inviting. We cooked and dined and wished we could just stay for good. Of course we highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a fabulous deal. But we recommend it most to those travelers who want a place that offers an authentic Taos experience wrapped in the warmth and comfort of home. Thank you for allowing us to stay. We will most assuredly be back. M'y husband and I and two chihuahuas stayed a week. I almost refused to come back home. From the minute we stepped inside, we felt we had gone home to Grandma's house. It just "feels good" there. We have stayed a number of places in and around Taos, but this is my favorite. I could walk anywhere I wanted, and did, a lot! Took the dogs out in their stroller. A good safe neighborhood. Loved to watch the traffic and people go by. Big rooms, comfortable homey furniture, personal touches everywhere. Big, BIG bathrooms! I am ready to go back, but have to work a while so I can afford to! I almost did not write a review, because I don't want everyone to find out about this gem. You can walk to Michaels for fresh baked goods or a wonderful meal, you can walk to Bent Street for great shopping and food, you can walk to the square for people watching. One of our favorite things to do was get hot chocolate, sit on the square and just observe. You could also just stay in the house and be perfectly happy! Washer/dryer was great to have, internet let me stay connected to family and job, kitchen well supplied. Can't say enough good things. Some friends have heard me rave, and they plan to check out my pictures, hoping to book for a visit. Great house and price, but be careful when making a reservation, that he really understands that when you request a date to rent that you mean it. He rented it out for my dates after he said we could rent.Owner response: Yes sometimes people say, "what a great house, I want to come again next year" or "can I rent it again next year" and I'll respond "would love to have you, call me when you're ready to book it, I'll give you the same rate" and then I don't hear from them untill much later and yes, I've already rented it. I do need to make sure people understand it's not reserved untill they make a formal reservation and place a deposit to hold it. I will improve my communication skills on this front.

This house was amazing and really just made our vacation! The pictures are great on the listing but did not do justice to the beauty of this house. We had so much room and everything we needed! My best friend and I basically lived out back on the patio until it was time to eat or sleep lol. The weather was gorgeous and the chairs and porch swing were great for being outdoors! I can't wait to return!! The location was perfect as well, it was right on the main road and within walking distance to the plaza and other restaurants, shops and our favorite place, the alley cantina! We had the pleasure of staying in this home in October, just as the leaves were changing in Taos. What a beautiful time of year in New Mexico. The location is not to be beat, just a block away from the center of Taos. Although it's near the main street, the house is very quiet and we heard no noise at all. We enjoyed sitting in the main room, cozy as could be, watching people walk to and from town. My young daughter loved playing at the jungle gym across the street. We walked to the coffee shop in the mornings, did some window shopping in town, and visited the Agnes Martin Gallery at the Harwood Museum of Art which is not to be missed. We chose to cook most meals at the house and were amazed at how well stocked the kitchen was with utensils, pots, pans etc. The house has incredible charm, is well appointed and maintained, and all the rooms are very large in size. It would be a great place to stay in the winter if you were interested in skiing during the day but wanted to be closer to the action and restaurants at night. David was very responsive and helpful, even letting us stay an extra night at the last minute. I can't wait to go back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: I just want to say to everyone, Thank you for all of the kind words! And Thanks to our wonderful Grandparents and Mother who left us this wonderful property! I'm really just trying to keep it as occupied as possible to be able to pay all of the bills and so I try to meet everyones need for an affordable place to stay. It's so funny the way people are naturally incredulous, which I fully understand, but then are so pleasantly suprised by the quality of their stay, and gush with appreciation afterwards. That feels good and fun too. I just wish I could meet all of you great people who've graced our place these past few years.
