The sprawling fingers of the lake with many islands and coves covers 9000 acres and has 200 miles of shoreline. A great majority of the lake borders national forest or is owned by Tennessee Valley Authority and is undeveloped. Lake Chatuge is known to have good bass fishing and is regularly stocked.
