  Our family of six – parents and four adult children – spent Christmas week at Villa Sofia and had a terrific time. Everything was exactly as described and the landlord was friendly and responsive. The house is beautifully and idiosyncratically decorated. Hudson is a walkable town and the shops and restaurants of Warren Street are only five minutes away. With so many good restaurants to choose from, we did not use the Villa Sofia’s kitchen as much as we might have, but everything needed was there. Too bad it was winter and we could not take advantage of the porches. The radiant heat kept everything toasty and on the day it snowed the sidewalk and front porch were cleared without us even noticing. We are a device-heavy family, but the Wi-Fi supported everything, including Netflix movies. Villa Sofia is a great house in a great town and we would certainly go back.

  We recently spent a relaxing and enjoyable week at Villa Sofia. The house was exaclty as advertised. Very nicely finished, comfortable and inviting. Spent the week taking day trips into the surrounding area, including hiking in the Cascades, visiting the local organic farms and just plain relaxing. Spent several pleasant evenings relaxing with a bottle of wine on the deck, overlooking the valley and eating food collected from the local farms and prepared in the well appointed kitchen. Owner was great to work with, very responsive both prior and during our stay. Sandwiched this stay in between two four day stays in NYC, it was a great break from the City!

  Thank you for renting your wonderful home to us this past weekend. Our daughter was married on Saturday June 9th, at Oak Hill in Hudson and we stayed at your home and used it as a base for the wedding. It was wonderful and everything my daughter had hoped. She particularly liked having all of her bridesmaids get ready in the large master bathroom. She wanted a house with a pretty backdrop for all of her “getting ready” pictures, and your wonderful home worked perfectly for that. It was also quite comfortable for the rest of the family as well. Thank you so very much.

  What a wonderful weekend we had in this beautiful home. Every room's decor is the perfect inspiration to run into town and buy from all the antique and furniture shops for your own home. Just steps from town, its great to not have to get into a car if you don't want, yet totally secluded down a quiet side street.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

  We had a great visit in Hudson and want to thank you for sharing your home. It worked perfectly for us! Our family, my husband and I, our three grown daughters, their spouses and an infant, stayed at Villa Sophia while in town for a family wedding. The kitchen and common areas were great for family gatherings yet there was ample space for us all to spread out in various areas of the house. The outside space was well used. The weather was wonderful...hot in fact..and we made good use of the deck. The house with its high ceilings on both floors is beautifully decorated in every room. The beds were extremely comfortable and had great linens. Three bathrooms! A luxury for a family of girls. It sits in a fairly quiet neighborhood, yet the location is great for walking into the city of Hudson with its corner cafes and shops and friendly people. We even walked back to the house late at night after the wedding reception at Helsinki on Columbia Street. Also, it was fun learning about the history of the city and looking at the different types of architecture all over. We will certainly recommend Villa Sophia to our friends who visit Hudson.

  This house was the perfect getaway from NYC! My husband and I stayed here over New Years Weekend with 2 other couples and our dogs. It is not only beautifully decorated, but extremely comfortable for 3 couples. Each bedroom has a full or queen sized bed and having 3 bathrooms seemed like a luxury for those of us who live in NYC apartments. The kitchen was gorgeous and well equipped for cooking big family meals (although I would suggest to the owners some cookie sheets and measuring spoons). We thoroughly enjoyed eating together at the big dining room table too! We had planned to go one hikes and ice skating, but we were so happy with the house, that we ended up hanging out there pretty much the entire time! The dogs loved the fenced in backyard and we could tell that the deck would be perfect for the summer months. When we did decide to leave the house, we were close enough to walk to Warren street where there are plenty of cool shops and good food. The house was clean and the Homeaway description is accurate. Juan, the owner provided very good customer service and responded to my emails right away. It is obvious that a lot of hard work and love went into revitalizing this house, I would not hesitate to stay here again!!

  I live in New York City and wanted a change of pace and actual space to gather the whole family for Thanksgiving. The drive from the city was 2 hours and those people who took the train to Hudson said the ride was beautiful especially if you sit on the side of the train closest to the Hudson river. The whole family had such a great time in Hudson! The architecture is fascinating. Take a drive over to Olana. What a lovely place. The locals were very friendly and are rightfully proud of their town. The house Villa Sofia was amazing. The owner really has an eye for colors, furniture and objets d' art. The lighting was perfect. The kitchen cozy functional and a nice place to hang out. Every one in our group was really impressed. The house was restored beautifully. The high ceilings, crown molding and wood floors were beautiful. Everyone was comfortable and all the bedrooms were huge. So no need to feel bad about one person getting a better room than someone else. There were many places for people to gather comfortably. My Mother In Law loved reading outside on the front porch and I sat on the back deck and sketched We took advantage of the large comfortable dining room every night for dinners. We ate at a couple of restaurants a short walk away Swoon and Casa Mea. We also pre ordered our Thanksgiving dinner at a catering and marketplace called Gigi a short drive away. The house has menus to look through. Also you can easily find information online about all the wonderful restaurants so I won't go into detail. The shopping was great. I liked a Turkish store called Otto that has beautiful ceramics. We all had a great time and would go back and stay there again in a second.

  As we pack up to leave after our one month stay I will truly miss this house and Hudson.. The listng description and photos cannot capture how wonderfully decorated and how nice a home this is. the antiques in the home are beautiful but it is also a comfortable place. The deck outside kitchen and dining room is were we ate most of our meals amidst the beautiful plantings and more antiques. It is and extremely clean and well kept property and I loved the kitchen which is very well equipped. The owners are very helpful and called a few times while we set out the hurricane to make sure we were ok and comfortable. I would recommend this home to anyone and there is so much to do in Hudson with great resturants, music, galleries and shops. We also enjoyed the surrounding towns and a few of the golf courses.

  We had a wonderful week in hudson which was made even more fabulous by staying at Villa Sophia! The house is beautiful..While its is impeccably decorated and maintained, it was so comfortable that we didn't want to leave..they really did a great job of blending the two and can't wait to go back. Its so close to all of great spots of hudson but you may never want to leave this lovely home.

  Our stay in this well kept home was totally perfect. My family and I had ample privacy and were able to comfortably sleep and enjoy the many beautiful rooms in the house. The deck was perfect in the evenings and the kitchen a fun place to cook and have breakfast. I highly recommend staying here and hope to visit again myself!
