Leigh and I have named our vacation condominium 'ALMOST HEAVEN'....because it is. Please come and enjoy 'ALMOST HEAVEN' just like we do.
We now have two(2) 20% ownership interests available.
ALMOST HEAVEN is a 1st floor 2 bedroom/2 bath vacation condominium and is located across the parking lot from the Soaring Eagle lift in the Snowcrest building. Next door, in the Soaring Eagle Building (see map below), is the only 5 star restaurant (and our favorite) at Snowshoe, The South Mountain Grill. The nicest take out shop (gourmet by the way), The Market Place, is next to South Mountain Grill. In the Top of the World building (see map below) is everything you need to begin your vacation; ticket sales desk, ski shop/ski rental, resort information desk etc. Hoots Bar and Grill is in this building as well. If you wish to tour the resort, the “Free Shuttle” stops at the Snowcrest door and in front of the Soaring Eagle Lift every 15 minutes.
ALMOST HEAVEN'S 2 bedroom layout will sleep 6 adults comfortably, or 4 adults plus 2-4 children. The master bedroom has a queen sized bed with an en suite enhanced bath including a hair dryer and 1 X 5 wall mounted mirror. The 2nd bath is identically equipped. The 2nd bedroom has a queen size bed. We have a wet bar, fireplace, patio and fully equipped Kitchen for you to enjoy.
ALMOST HEAVEN is located on the first floor, and the balcony offers a picturesque view(?) of the WV mountains to the east. ALMOST HEAVEN opens to a large atrium courtyard. The building has indoor hot tubs, game room, fireplace, lounge, numerous sitting areas, and laundry facilities. The parking lot is private, open only to owners and their guests.
The building looks fantastic! This is a quiet building with on site security that will afford you the vacation you deserve. If you want to stay connected, there is complimentary high-speed wireless internet access and a phone for incoming and local phone calls. With a calling card, you can also place out-going calls. AT&T is the only cell service available. There is a cell phone for your use.
After the best day of skiing east of the Mississippi, return to ALMOST HEAVEN and cuddle up in front of the wood burning fireplace (free firewood). If you’re not done yet, ride the “Free Shuttle” to the Village which has a great selection of restaurants and entertainment. If you have children, take the family to the Big Top and enjoy a variety of activities from Rock Climbing to watching a movie. If you prefer you, can prepare dinner in our gourmet equipped modern kitchen, and watch a DVD or movie on the cable TV. Another option is to walk to the Market Place next door, which offers gourmet meals to bring back to ALMOST HEAVEN.
Renting ALMOST HEAVEN is an easy process that can be handled entirely over the internet. We accept PayPal or credit cards (we never need to have your credit card number - you enter it on a secure payment web site). There is no mailing of keys, the door utilizes a electronic locking syustem. Once your vacation begins, you have access to an on-site owner's representative to assist you or address any questions that might arise.
Truly a slice of ALMOST HEAVEN in the West Virginia Mountains. The best year round resort in the east.

Comfortable stay for six people. Kitchen is tight, but fine as long as you keep people out while you are cooking! Easy transportation for wherever you want to go on the mountain. Well kept up for an older condo. Owners extremely nice and easy to work with for reservations and information!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children.

This was one of my most fun ski trips to date. The condo was very nice and the location made it very easy to enjoy my time on the mountain. Everything in the condo worked well and any questions we had about the condo or the surrounding activities prior to going were answered promptly so we could enjoy our trip without any worries. We sent our adult children for a week as a Christmas gift, they could NOT stop talking about how fabulous the condo was and absolutely perfect location, this is a TRUE ski in and ski out condo. This was the best idea we ever had and could not ask for better owners to help me out, thank you so much for ALL your help. We would totally recommend this condo to anyone, I knew nothing about the area and they went over and above in order to make a memorable experience for our family.Owner response: I'm more comfortable with "Walk to the Slope" but it's just across the parking lot so I won't quibble. Leigh and i go to great lengths to make sure all of our guests have a great time.

My family and I enjoyed staying at Almost Heaven. It is a delightful 1st floor condo in the perfect place (South Mountain). It is quiet. My children could play in the arcade and I was comfortable that they were safe. Everything was perfect. We had a great time. Can’t wait to get back.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, people with disabilities, families with young children.

Everything was just as advertised. I have stayed in several different places in the Snowshoe area and I would definitely go back to Almost Heaven. Allen was very easy to work with, whether it was over the phone or thru email. Highly recommended!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children.

WHI FI was not really working to the building. We got on the phone with Allen and call dropped or broken up and they had a phone there for local calls but Allen did not seem to get it when we left the number for the landline. After 6 calls of this he finally called back. The cleaning person came at about 8:00 pm and did change the sheets and towels, did a little in the kitchen but no real good cleaning such as vacuuming or whipping things done. He stated he would be bak tomorrow but never showed. Almost Heaven is not a good theme for the place. The overall inside was fine but could use some updates for the wall paneling and couch. The nice thing is the hot tub being inside and close. It is not ski in or out and if you want nice skiing the bus takes you to center city and you get off, have to wait for another bus and get on to get there. I did ask Allen for a slight refund for cleaning ordeal but after emails he never responded. When I got back and first called him on the problem he did say the maintenance guy did say they did not clean the room but how could that be because the cleaning person said he did not even come because of a problem he had? Good LuckOwner response: I don't know who "Tony" is. I rented the condo to Mr John Troeschel. I do know that Mr Troeschel and his party occupied the condo shortly after lunch (check in time is 3:30 PM), before the housekeeper arrived, changed into their ski clothes and left. Each time the housekeeper went to the condo to clean, they saw that it was occupied, and with no one there to ask, left. At 7:01 PM I answered his 1st and only voice mail and was informed of his situation. I called the housekeeper, he made a special trip back to the resort with fresh linens and offered to clean the unit. Mr. Troeschel took the linens and refused the cleaning....didn't want to be bothered. The next I heard from him was an email asking for a discount 4 days later. The building manager and other guests have had no problem with the WIFI or anything else in the Snowcrest building.

We loved our stay at "Almost Heaven." It was the perfect condo for our family...so clean and comfortable! It is a great place to come "home" to after a long day on the slopes. The access to the slopes was amazing! About the owner: My name is Allen Walker, Jr and my wife is Leigh. We are a young retired couple living in Salem, Va. Snowshoe is about 2 hrs, 45min from Salem and we enjoy the resort atmosphere. The restaurants and shops are a lot of fun, not to mention the skiing, fly fishing, golf in the warmer months and all sorts of other outdoor activities. Please come visit Snowshoe any time of the year and stay with us.
Why the Owner Chose Snowshoe:
This building, Snowcrest, has no commercial activity. It is strictly residential. This, together with excellent building management and security, make it the ideal vacation condominium. All of the facilities for winter sports are next door in the Soaring Eagle building. This means we have all of the peace and quiet of Snowcrest with the convenience of the facilities at Soaring Eagle. The 'Free Shuttle' stops at the door every 15 mins. It's perfect!
