  There truly isn't enough to say about this place. If you're looking for a perfect place to stay out in Madaket, look no further. My boyfriend and I decided to stay at topside because we absolutely love Madaket for the laid back feel it has, the beach/sunsets are amazing, we love to fish and staying at a home on Hither Creek was just a no brainer for us. We jumped on it as soon as we found it. Little did I know my boyfriend had other plans in mind It was our ideal Nantucket home- simple, but giving you the gift of everything (that we personally love about Nantucket). The unique, natural beauty, the ability to step outside and be completely blown away by the sights and even the peaceful sounds. The house is just wonderful. and it accommodates a large family, but since it was just the two of us, we only used the second floor which consisted of the living room, dining room, kitchen, master bedroom/bathroom and the two beautiful double doors which led out to the spacious deck. We could not get away from that deck! We could sit there for hours not even speaking to each other- just in awe of the view. On this trip to Nantucket, in this lovely house, overlooking Hither Creek, the most perfect thing happened. Whenever we weren't out exploring the island, if we were back at Topside, we were planted on the deck. After our second day there, we took our places out on the Topside deck to watch the infamous Madaket sunset. My boyfriend got down on one knee and proposed to me right then and there, sun going down over the water, from the best place in the world. It was the most perfect moment of our lives. He later told me that when we had found this house to rent, he instantly knew this would be the place where he'd propose. We've been to many places and although Nantucket is our favorite place, this is the exact spot he chose for something so important. To me, that says a lot about this home! Topside is now a very special place to us. Thank you so much for such a great experience! My fiance and I enjoyed our stay and look forward to vacationing at Topside again!

  We stayed at Topside for a lovely week in August 2011, the property was clean and well furnished, and right on Hither Creek. Chris, the owner answered all our pre-arrival questions and gave us great suggestions for island activities. The house is walking and biking distance to the perfect family beach of Madaket, a small General Store and a fun restaurant, Millie's. But the best part of Topside is the amazing view of Hither Creek from the deck! We spent hours out there watching the water birds, the wildlife and the various boats quietly entering and leaving the creek for fishing excursions. And sunset from that deck is every bit as special as the owner states on the website. Since the Master bedroom/bathroom and living room/kitchen area is up a flight of stairs, this would not be a good house for senior citizens I think. I would especially recommend this simple cottage for a family that enjoys fishing or going out to explore the creek or anyone like me who just has to have a "water view" on vacation!

  Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.
