All of the appliances in the house are brand new. The enormous eat-in granite kitchen can seat up to 10, and there is plenty of space to cook. All bathrooms have marble throughout. One bathroom's shower contains both a hand-held shower and a rain shower head. The second bathroom contains the original clawfoot tub and a modern Dornbracht Tub Filler and handshower. You will find that our home is generously proportioned and cheerfully bright. (None of the negatives usually associated with the usual NYC accommodations!)

We are on the edge of Prospect Heights, so much so that many consider our neighborhood to be Park Slope. The closest subway stops are a five minute walk from the house: Q,B at 7th ave and 2,3 at Bergen Street. Q, B is my favorite because it goes over the bridge and you can see the Statue of Liberty on your way into the city. Atlantic Ave and Pacific St Stations are only ten minutes away, their train lines are D, M, N, R, 2, 3, 4, 5, B and Q. If you are taking the LIRR, the Flatbush Ave station adjoins the Atlantic subway station. There is plenty of free parking on the street outside our brownstone.

It is only a ten-minute walk to Prospect Park. Brooklyn Botanic Gardens' famous cherry blossom festival, great running trails, a zoo, cricket, soccer, football, kite flying and any other outdoor activity you can imagine. During the winter, if you are a fan of cross-country skiing, sledding, or snowball fights, this picturesque landscape awaits you.

The closest cinema is BAM, which is a 15 minute walk from the house. BAM is also a world-class live theater. Joyce's - on Vanderbilt and Park Place – is a truly delicious coffee shop and bakery. Wine Exchange – on Bergen and Vanderbilt – is really friendly and has a great wine and liquor selection. Vanderbilt is one of the best nightlife rows in Brooklyn. A few great bars: Weather Up (589 Vanderbilt, between Bergen and dean); Soda (Vanderbilt and Park); and Flatbush Farm (76 St. Marks, on the other side of Flatbush). James – on Carlton and St. Marks - is a 4 star restaurant. It’s a little bit of a hipster paradise and a little snobby, but truly delicious. The Vanderbilt - also a 4 star restaurant, just opened up a few months ago. It's on the corner of Bergen and Vanderbilt. Other great brunch places include Milk Bar and Le Gamin on Vanderbilt.

Architect/owner performed an awe-inspiring job on this transformation! Lot of space, light, amenities - you name it. In town for daughter's wedding, which was completely hectic, and it was nice to have such a soothing place to come home to at night. Very convenient to downtown Brooklyn and Manhattan. 5th Avenue (Brooklyn) has anything you need - and the subway is just a few blocks. Car service (Evelyn's) is super-fast, and on-street parking very easy in late July. Immaculate and furnished very comfortably. We had 5 adults at one point with no problem. Well-lit street - foot traffic most times of the day and night. Would recommend to friends and family alike - hope to return again!

Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We had such a good time here (and I like to think of it as not being over yet) and on our side, we couldn't have imagined a better place to spend these three months. Before coming here, we were still a bit unclear whether we really wanted to be in Manhattan, but now we are so happy to have chosen your apartment over what I had seen in Manhattan - and your place has made a big impact on our becoming Brooklynites!! We really love the space that you have created through the extension and there is a very nice atmosphere downstairs as well. Our son has grown fond of what he considers his room. Thanks also so much again for letting us use his toys, it was just perfect. In fact, we have bought some of the things ourselves and shipped them to Germany because our son likes them so much. Last but not least, your neighbors have gone out of their way to make us feel at home and help with the little everyday questions, it really is great for you to have them downstairs.

The apartment met our needs very well. The terrace is a major asset. And only 1/2 block from Vanderbilt Avenue, which is very convenient. The stores, coffee & wine shops are excellent. It also provides a short walk to Prospect park with its museum, botanical garden, library, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful house and are asking ourselves if we might prefer a modern open floor plan rather than our traditional one.

It was fantastic. The apartment looked exactly the same as the photos and the location was brilliant. It's close to Prospect Park which is beautiful, and around the corner from 5th Avenue which has great shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. In fact, 5th Ave was one of our favorite places in new york as it had lots to do and it felt like we were the only tourists there. And the area is totally safe. Everyone we met in the area were all very friendly and helpful.

Your place is fabulous (though i am sure you know this). It was perfect and roomy enough for my family. My daughter felt right at home. The location was great being so close to Prospect Park and all the finds on 5th and 6th Ave.

We really enjoyed the space, the height of the rooms the general light and airiness of the apartment. My son thinks you have the best shower on the planet. Your street is very well connected with the city but it was aways good to return to the peace of your sun deck and to the views over the gardens and indeed Manhattan skyline. We wouldn't hesitate to return again or recommend this exceptional apartment.

My stay at 602 Bergen could not have been more perfect. To begin with the neighborhood is fantastic. Quick walk to wonderful bars, restaurants, grocery store etc. Very convenient to the subway and Manhattan was an additional plus. Now for the apartment- it was ridiculously amazing...wonderful morning light especially from the master bedroom and the upstairs bedroom (2 levels up). Yes this apartment is three levels- two of which are quite generous. Best space is the middle level where the is an amazing kitchen with great counterspace, cabinets and appliances that were perfect for cooking and gatherings. Large sliding glass door opens to terrace that overlooks backyard gardens and has a great view of the Clocktower, etc at night. Design of the apartment was great, very modern, and like I said lots of light. A very happy place to be. Wood floors throughout, high ceilings, immaculately maintained, very highly recommended. 10 of 10.

Really beautiful space, and a cozy, comfortable place to stay. The living area is very open and modern, great for entertaining, and the rooms are stylish and comfortable. Also, extremely clean and full of great light, and in the heart of one of Brooklyn's best neighborhoods - chock full of cute restaurants and hip bars and boutiques, and very convenient to the city. The hosts are great, too, very accomodating and helpful with directions and advice. I had a wonderful time, and I highly, highly recommend staying here!

Nice, three story brownstone apartment in quiet Brooklyn neighborhood. Bright, open plan allowing in a lot of light. Main living/kitchen floor opens onto a rooftop deck. The property was clean and had all the necessary amenities. Great location within short walk of subways and local shopping. Street parking is quite easy. The owners were helpful by providing directions and suggestions for local shops and restaurants. Would certainly recommend to others who are not afraid of stairs :-)

Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

Owner response: Thanks so much for the positive review! One of the best things about living in a Brooklyn Brownstone is that all of the buildings around you are just a few stories tall. So you get great views, better light (no shadows from high-rise buildings), and more of a connection to the neighborhood. This creates a unique cultural landscape. But unfortunately, they never have elevators!

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 2008

About the owner: My husband is studying to become a doctor and I am an architect; I designed the apartment. We have a four-year-old son. We enjoy going on walks in Prospect Park or to Underhill Playground, and eat at least one meal a day in the local coffee shop (on a good day, we all eat there together!)

                  Why the Owner Chose Brooklyn:
We love being 10 minutes from the city, it is really convenient for work, and going out if we meet friends in Manhattan. But on the weekends, we enjoy strolling around the neighborhood. And we love that the park is only 10 minutes away. Maybe best of all, Vanderbilt has become more like Smith Street in the last few years, it is home to thriving restaurants and bars. It is one of the best nightlife rows in Brooklyn. Think Williamsburg without the teenagers!

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
There are beautifully landscaped yards visible from our roof deck and bedrooms. Looking out the windows at the back of the house you feel like you're in the country, but looking out the windows in front, you feel like you are in the city. We also have a Manhattan view from our roof deck.
