View from large terrace, constant breezes, soothing sound of surf
Location: Bathway Beach, Grenada, Grenada, Caribbean (Northeast Grenada, 75 minutes from the Airport)
Accommodations: House, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths (Sleeps 6)
TRADEWINDS in Grenada! A private villa on a hillside a few minutes stroll to the beach, Tradewinds offers comfort and simplicity. Three bedrooms (queen and full and twins), 2 baths, fully-equipped kitchen, and spacious living/dining area are immaculate and nicely appointed. Our terrace affords an incredible yet peaceful view of the beach, sea, and islands. Kitchen and both bathrooms recently renovated to the highest standard.
We are next to Grenada's Levera National Park, a conservation area including beaches, an international turtle nesting and protection program you can visit (eggs are laid and hatch between February and June), a fresh water pond, ruins of a 17th century British fort, and an extinct volcano. Just off-shore is an uninhabited island with a delightful coral reef. The main beach, Bathway, is formed by a natural rock barrier that creates several hundred meters of lagoon. The area is virtually deserted most mornings, and never crowded even on a holiday Sunday. Mountain hiking, historic sites, plantation Great Houses, and many natural wonders are within 30 minutes.
We do not offer TV/VCR or Air conditioning but the breezes and fans keep the house very comfortable. A rental car or hired driver is necessary to take full advantage of the area, but we can also arrange a cook if you want to stay put and enjoy every moment on the terrace or at the beach. Please check out our website for pictures and more info.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1987
Tradewinds has been our family's vacation home since 1987. I retired as a prep school educator in 2005 and spend most of the winter in Grenada, and each of my four children visit most years. Tradewinds is available for 1-2 week rentals all winter and for longer stays (at special rates) between May 1 and December 1.
Why the Owner Chose Bathway Beach
We wanted the opportunity to live in the local culture and feel like a genuine part of the community. We dealt with poorly paved roads and erratic electricity and limited shopping for the first 15 years but all the services are much improved now. We love the warmth and opennes of the Grenadian people, the unspoiled beauty of the area, the lack of tourists, the safety and health of the environment, and the serenity.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Tradewinds is magical. The view of the sea, the beach and islands and the occasional boat is enhanced by the steady gentle breeze. We sit on the terrace and dream and eventually feel pulled to the beach. Then after being on the beach and glancing up the hill we feel drawn back to the terrace. We can do nothing else for days, but we can also take hikes to the next beach or to the top of the extinct volcano or into the rainforests to waterfalls. We can visit friends, go out to eat (we now have 4-5 restaurants in addition to the beach food stalls), or visit nearby attractions like the Grenada choclolate factory or Belmont Estate, a beautiful and fun way to learn about Grenada history and agriculture (including many exotic tropical fruits). In the evening we can walk the beach where sea turtles nest as long as we keep a respectful distance. More info is available.
