We came down to Galveston for a family wedding and "mini" family vacation with the three kids and my mother-in-law. The home was neat, clean, and comfortable. The neighborhood was quiet and the bay is beautiful during sunrise and sunset. We loved the upper deck area and our middle son spent most of his free time in the hammock. Overall, our experience was wonderful. We would love to come back for a longer visit. Thanks!

Had never stayed in a "canal" home before, but now we are hooked! Sunset Bungalow is immaculately maintained. Perfect family outing, has everything you need. Owners very friendly and helpful. Took their suggestion and rented a paddle boat....best thing we could have done for the kids and the adult kids enjoyed it as well.

My family and I stayed a glorious week where the weather was around 75 degrees and partly cloudy so we didn't get too hot or sunburned.We ate some great seafood and just when we needed a break from seafood Terry replaced the grill and we had porkchops to everybody's delight. The house is real cute and cozy and we even caught a crab and a huge flounder! We really enjoyed riding the cruiser bikes through the nice neighborhood homes and to the beach. Like I said in the comment book Terry;you and Galveston R-O-C-K and I told my Dad thanks for starting this new family tradition!

Winter Weekend

The property is large and well-stocked and extremely clean (especially for a pet-friendly home). The house has everything you would need to accomodate up to 10 guests comfortably. The owners are fabulous and very easy to work with. The location is wonderful and the neighborhood is safe and very quiet. The neighborhood even has a great park for children to play just down the street. My family had a fantastic time this past weekend and we will definately book this place again in the future!!!

Thanksgiving Holiday 2011

We had a wonderful time. The location was awesome and the sunsets can’t even be explained. The turkey was delicious and the memories are beyond words. Seven Sea's grocery store is just a few miles and has everything you can imagine and very good quality. You are close enough to enjoy the sites but far enough to feel like you are in paradise! The house was very clean, and the photos just don’t show how cute it really is. The deck was a great extra place to hang out and watch all of the birds fly to and from the sanctuary. The fishing lights were also a great added feature as the fun didn’t have to stop because the sun went down. How awesome to have been able to include our dogs with in our plans as they are a huge part of our family as well. What fun we had and can’t wait to go back again!

Was the most relaxed, calming trip to Galveston ever!! We invited a few family & friends down for the weekend and it was just perfect for all of us. The home was super clean and very well equipped with everything that was needed. We mostly stayed on the huge, wonderful deck that looks out over the wetlands. And the sunsets, OMG.... the last time I saw a sunset so brilliantly orange and absolutely beautiful was in Maui. All the people we met in the area were all so friendly, everyone waving and welcoming! It was also very comforting to see the Jamaica Beach police roam the area each day making sure the community was safe. We did alot of fishing, crabbing, eating, laughing and just great times being made. Received my deposit back within 3 days (including mail time) and the owners are so nice and honest. I will be back and it will be to the Sunset Bungalow, I recommend it to everyone coming to Galveston!

We were very pleased with our choice of the sunset bungalow. We stayed for a long weekend with 2 families and had small children along and all of us enjoyed the home. It held up to our expectations and we all had a blast!! Kids and adults alike loved the fishing right from the home and the crab trap! The short distance to the beach was perfect and the beaches on that side of the island were far more superior to the other beaches we've previously visited in Galveston! We were very pleased and hickey recommend this property!

Terry, wanted to let you and your wife know that I did receive my deposit back for Sunset Bungalow. Thank you for being so prompt. I would also like to take a moment to thank you both for allowing my family to the use of your lovely house for our family to use for our get-together. There was plenty of room for all, and the decor and lay out was perfect for us to come and go without tripping over each other. Liked the recycling of boards from old house into new ceiling. Overall, I can't think of anything that would have made our stay any better.

We had an absolutely wonderful vacation thanks to Terry's hospitality. The accommodations were beautiful with an open floor plan that was light and very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the dock and patio areas. We were able to fish and swim from the dock while our dinner was grilling. It was definitely home away from home.

Terry and Jeanne, we had such a wonderful stay at your home! All eight of us fit very comfortably. The separate downstairs bedroom and bath were perfect for my parents. That way, the kids weren't constantly bothering them! I loved staying on the west end of the island - it's so much more peaceful there. The beach was very easy to get to, and not crowded at all. We enjoyed fishing and crabbing right off the deck, even though we didn't catch much! Maybe next time, we'll do better. :-) The house was very clean, and the kitchen had everything we needed. Can't wait to come back!

My very young boys and I (along with our dogs) rented this home and we found it to be just as in the pictures and absolutely perfect. It's quiet and peaceful. The views are breathtaking. Jamaica Beach is a fantastic community with a great park for the kids to play on within walking distance. The owners were reachable and responsive. I accidentally left clothes in one of the drawers and they priority mailed them to me! If only all VRBO properties were this fabulous. (And I never write reviews, but this time, I had to highly recommend this home.) Really appreciate all the helpfulness of the owners! We look forward to renting again soon!

This house is a perfect weekend get away from the busy city. The house itself is very beautiful, clean and well maintained. The location allows for amazing views of the sunset over the island nature reserve. The property owners were friendly and professional. Easy to stay, but difficult to leave such a relaxing home.

We came in with a group of 10 guys and had more than enough room with the addition of a couple of our air mattresses. Terry was on time and was availbale when I had any questions during and before the trip. It was further our then we expected BUT after searching online it was the closest house from the main strip and the best priced. 5 out of 5 stars from our group.

1-3-11 We came down from Houston with our 9 year old son to spend New Years weekend. Sunset Bungalow was exactly what we needed. This home is perfectly appointed and has everything you need for a weekend, a week, or a month. My son was fascinated with the crab traps and the hammock. We all enjoyed the views of the water and wetlands, especially the sunset. The Hudson's have put everything together for a beautiful home. I rented this house with a family weekend in mind and I'm so glad I did! The house is "very" clean, spacious and has comfortable beds. The kitchen is well stocked and the washer/dryer came in handy. They even stock movies, games and a small library - wow! The decks are huge and the views are amazing. We spent a lot of time downstairs in the sitting area, grilling and fishing. The fish were literally jumping in the canal. This is the perfect house for relaxing and creating wonderful memories!! I would recommend for all ages!! Terry and Jeanne are a delight to work with!

Guys' Weekend - Great House, Great View, Great Time

The location is very quiet with great views of the sun setting over the bay and the beach is just down the street. The house is well kept and unique with a great deck and lower area on the canal. We set crab traps (provided at the house) and caught stone and blue crabs just below our deck. We had great meals cooked on the grill and prepared in the well appointed kitchen. The bedrooms were nice as were all the bathrooms. It was a great place for all six of us to stay for a four day weekend of golf and fishing. Things to do: Golf at Moody Gardens (just a few minutes from the beach house) great course. Fishing with Captain Galen (cowboybootsandbathingsuits.com) We all caught trophy-size bull redfish and shark. Go to Woody's - A great bar just down the road built on piers over the beach. great view and open deck to have a cold one on.

we stayed the weekend of Sept 17th - 19th, and even though it rained on us and we didn't get to see the sunsets, we had a great time at this house. Very accomodating for our family, 4 siblings and spouses with a couple of grandbabies, the house was very comfortable for all of us. We had a great time fishing off the lighted dock, and having our boat right there was really nice. The house was well stocked, coffee maker, blender, dishes, and a washer and dryer. Also there are movies, books and several board games. And we loved being right on the water, and also loved the wetlands right across the street. Nice place!!!!!!!

This house was perfect for our Girl's Weekend. It was super clean!!!! The sunsets were wonderful. We enjoyed sitting on the deck at sunrise with a nice cup of coffee. We have made coming to Galveston something special. No kids and no husbands. This house was just what 4 tired Mom's needed.

Clean and Cozy!

Our family had the best time at this exceptionally clean and cozy beach home. The kids loved the crab cages at the boat dock just outside the door. There was plenty of comfortable seating and beds. Loved the washer and dryer convenience. Because of our numbers (7 adults, 2 kids) we really needed a larger skillet to cook with and a few extra towels, but other than that it was perfect. Thanks Jeannie and Terry for checking in with us during our stay just to make sure all was well. Would absolutely love to stay again.

What a wonderful vacation spot for anyone. The house is so cute and roomy. And it has everything you need! Terry and his wife are willing to help with anything,they showed the kids how to use the crab cages, and even took us on a boat ride.The beach is close by along with a cute little grocery store. Our family had a great time staying at Terry and Jeanne Hudson’s Sunset Bungalow. We enjoyed spectacular sunset & water views from the two huge decks. The listing photos don't do the property justice, you have to see it to believe it. The kids used the lighted boat dock everyday fishing and crabbing. We were just minutes to the Jamaica Beach beach. We will most definitely recommend this property to our friends and family. The house was great and immaculately clean. Everything we needed for a great stay was supplied, all we needed to do when we showed up was unpack our clothes. For the money this was better than any island hotel we could have stayed at.

We stayed at the Sunset Bungalow for 3 nights & enjoyed ourselves alot. The house is wonderful & so were the owners! The dowstairs "bedroom" with the trundle bed was a bit musty, but overall the property was Very well taken care of. Just bring your food & clothes & settle in. Also we got our deposit back in 2 days of leaving!

Terry, Thank you for the call yesterday. That was very kind. I must tell you, when I first booked our vacation, I thought I was booking a waterfront home and I didn't realize until I looked up the address that it was a home on a channel instead of the waterfront. However, I think it was one of the best mistakes I ever made. Having stayed in waterfront homes in the past, I am so glad I was on the channel this time. It has so many advantages over being on the beach. Being able to fish right out the back door without all the mess of tracking through the sand, etc. is worth a lot! Plus we had the shade from the deck during the day, the advantage of the chairs being right there, plus a restroom only feet away. How much better could we have it? It was GREAT! We highly recommend that anyone wanting to vacation in Galveston take a serious look at your home. It is so much better than being on the beach. Plus, the beach is within walking distance if someone really wants to go to the beach. Your home was very comfortable. The large kitchen has plenty of room for anyone wanting to save money by cooking meals at home instead of eating out. The large living room has nice comfortable sofas for someone who just wants to kick back and relax, with plenty of books to read, games to play or movies to watch on the home theater system. It was set up very nice, and your wife did an excellent job of decorating every room. This is a very nice vacation home and for about the cost of most motels, anyone can stay here - which has much more to offer than a motel (and much less noise too!). Thanks again for your hospitality. The local boat tour was a very nice treat no one else offers that I know of. Being a local resident, you are very knowledgeable about all that is going on in Galveston. I appreciated the informative tour of the area, and really enjoyed looking at all the nice homes from the water view. That was a nice extra touch to our vacation! All in all, we really enjoyed our visit and look forward to doing it again real soon. We hope to keep in touch and we will let you know when we can book another week or two with you! Terry & Jeanne, What a great house and a wonderful place to vacation! You have made this vacation home feel like home in so many ways. All the little things like games, books, movies, snacks waiting for us when we arrived made our stay that much more enjoyable. My husband and all the kids loved the fishing and crabbing off the dock and sometime when we were here, a magic sand dollar appeared and really made the kid's day. Thanks again; we will return!

We have rented several houses in Galveston--always on the beach. This time we decided to give the bay side a try. Wow, were we delighted! My husband spent every spare minute fishing from our deck. The views were absolutely beautiful. I especially enjoyed the great variety of birds. We have rented many houses off VRBO; this one was without question the cleanest. Terry Hudson bent over backwards to make our stay comfortable. We would definitely stay at Sunset Bungalow again.

Our family has stayed in countless galveston & Bolivar beach properties, and this one takes the cake! The accommodations were immaculate, the view amazing and the extra details did not go unnoticed. We had a nice family reunion coming in from Dallas, Chicago and Jacksonville. What a perfect place to relax and get together! The house is so pretty and the views are incredible! It was pretty amazing that I was driving along on the West End & Goggled for "beach rentals" and this place came up and we called. Mr. Hudson was very nice and met us here so we could see Sunset Bungalow. It was as advertised... but, better! Thanks Mr. and Mrs. Hudson for making your house available to us on such short notice. We will tell our friends and we'll be back later this summer.

"We had only a few days of vacation and wanted to spend it in a quiet laid-back place with a beautiful view. Wow! We found what we wanted at Terry and Jeanne Hudson’s Sunset Bungalow on Galveston Bay. The immaculate and newly-updated beach house has many luxuries you don’t usually find in an island resort town—very comfortable beds, lots of pillows and towels, bright happy colors, modern appliances and more. But the best part is the incredible, unimpeded view of Galveston Bay. From the spacious (and private) wooden deck, we watched the sun rise and set over the water just a few feet away. At night we could hear the waves gently touching the clean, sandy shore, and we saw the stars shining brightly overhead. In the morning, we awakened to the sounds of seagulls diving for breakfast. It was a breathtaking experience! We will certainly recommend it to our friends, and we plan to return often to Galveston Island and to the Hudson’s Sunset Bungalow." D. Booth Irving, TX

"We loved the beach house as we (my husband, two small daughters) stayed there to bring in 2010. It is a great layout for a family and entertaining. The beds are very comfortable and the furnishing are very cute. The house was immaculately clean! We entertained a great deal at the house, as we used to live in Galveston and still have family there. The view onto the estuaries is incredible. especially in the mornings and evenings. We rented a golf cart and had loads of fun trolling to the beach and around Jamaica beach. The kids fished in the canal, water a little to cold, but fun none the less. Having rented numerous beach houses on Galveston Island, I would definitely rent this again. The price is right and the house is great!" Amalie M, TX
