This was an excellent experience as the home was in perfect order and so well stocked! Jim, the owner, was responsive and patient to our numerous questions. He was easy to work with during the entire rental process. The trip was a perfect combination of relaxation and exploration. The area is an easy drive to sites in the Verde Valley as well as Sedona. The area is surrounded by lakes and hiking trails in the Tonto National Forest. Morning greeted us with a chorus of doves, Gambel's quail, various songbirds, and toads. The sight of the desert flora in the surrounding forest, amazing desert landscaping, birds bathing in the waterfall and dining at feeders, and the infinity edged pool was awesome. The house is well decorated with authentic Native American pieces that are truly museum quality and exquisite western antiques. Everything about this rental and trip was perfect and fun! Sunshine everyday was SO welcome! We can't wait to return again someday...Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My husband & his friend stayed at the Casita in October and they couldn't say enough positive things about the home & grounds. This got me more & more excited for our short visit this December. When we arrived, and I first walked through the gate, I thought I was in a private paradise! So BEAUTIFUL! The inside of the home was equally as beautiful! I wish I was staying a month! The windows, overlooking the Tonto... We were lucky enough to have a full moon during our stay. It was so peaceful, with the reflection on the desert & all over the stars, just can't explain. What a wonderful, accomandating man, Jim is too. Thank you! So looking forward to our visit in June!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Swimming in an outdoor pool in April was a special treat for the girls. We also want to thank you for your prompt assistance when we first arrived. It was a pleasure to meet you. My youngest said you were the first real cowboy she'd ever met. With the help of your maps we were able to locate the petroglyphs and the girls were able to recognize some of the same symbols they saw ay the Heard Museum. Your kindness was greatly appreciated.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We are extremely grateful for the time we were able to spend at your spectular Tonto Forest Ranch. Hiking through the national forest, admiring your beautiful garden (and watching the birds enjoy it too) and discovering your amazing collection of artifacts made our experience very memorable. Your home, inside and out, is truly a treasure! After returning from day trips to museums and botinical gardens, we fely like we were living in our own museum and beautiful gardenDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

An adolescent golden eagle spent some time with us - overseeing the garden, allowing us time to identify and admire his majectic magnificence. We have so many memories. Friends and family have shared this time with us - staying here or just joining us for dinner. Tomorrow we return to Evergreen, CO. and carry with us the beautiful memories of this place-forever in our hearts. Thank you..Always R & RDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

continued -time and treasure of memory.. walks in the desert, mountain climbing, feeding the birds and their glorious song.. and the song of the frogs. Life in the desert. It snowed and hailed and sleeted and rained..it was was so beautifully warm it soaked into our souls and brought us rest and life. Yesterday, the last of our guests left and we sat outside in the garden. I painted while he read to me and we filled a whole afternoon with art and words and wonder. continuedDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

As the sunset fades on our last day here, we are quiet - reflective and profoundly greatful. What a glorious place of rest..and restorative beauty this is! This is our second visit and there is such joy in the return! I can I came through the gate on our first day here this year, I cried tears of joy as I stood in the garden, looking out on the greening desert beyond. It was good to be back. Now reflecting on this time, overwhelmed with gratitude, I celebrate the moments here - each a gift ofDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

What a lovely time we had staying in the Casita! The little home has everything one might want/need with the added bonus of a wonderful and quite private deck off the master bedroom The grounds are stunning...befitting the location and enhancing the view of the Tonto National Forest. The hiking trails out back are wonderful...we spotted and photographed a diamond back rattlesnake! Jim is the perfect host: unobtrusive as can be, yet very helpful and friendly at all times. We were in the area for events that took place in the Mesa/Phoenix, so it was a bit of a drive to the Casita each time but well worth it for us! The best review I can give is this: We actually cancelled several pre-scheduled events just to spend more time relaxing and enjoying this paradise in the southwest.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Jim! What a blessing to stay in your homes. Your collections, art, antiques are amazing and added so much to our Southwest experience. We all enjoyed the hikes, finding rocks, picking out the cactus spines. We relaxed in the pool, fixed great meals in your kitchen and feel totally refreshed to return home. We hope to return to your spectacular corner of paradise.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Where do I start?? We have traveled quite a bit with our children over the years, but this experience absolutely "tops em all"!! It takes a special person to share his wonderful place with those you've never met. I'am glad to know folks like you still exist. This has been a "moving" experience! My regret is that we can't stay longer....or "move in"! But we look forward to being back in July if you will have us.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
About the owner: I built this home for my family. The kids are grown and we are ready to share it with visitors who can appreciate the seclusion and unique views of the Sonoran desert. From here we enjoy walks on the desert, Indian ruins and petroglyphs, and all a major metropolitan center has to offer with 20 minutes or so.
Why the Owner Chose Cave Creek:
We were looking for a special place to build, on the edge of the desert in the Cave Creek area. We sent out 20 letters to land owners with property on the edge of the national forest and one owner responded, who had ten acres he would sell. Over the years I have enjoyed creating a desert oasis where the birds and wildlife come to feed and water. It is a unique location that any nature lover is sure to enjoy. There is a huge selection of native plants, cactus and trees surrounding the home and casita.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
This is our home. We have enjoyed it every day of the last 15 years. When we have visitors, we know they are enjoying the seclusion, the views and the wildlife as well as the pleasures of the house itself.
