BEST LOCATION IN WILD DUNES

Just returned from our 3rd stay at the wonderful home. We love the decorating and layout (also great new frig!). Our Charleston friends always want to come and visit while we are there. We stroll over to the pool and lounge area, enjoying the sunset over the ocean. Thanks for being great to work with. Cant wait to come back!

Great Long Weekend!

We wanted to see historic Charleston during the off-season. This was the perfect launch pad for our adventure. Easily reached via rental car from the airport. Delightfully quiet cottage along the shore where the sound of waves put us to sleep each night. The beach is just a short walk down a path from the cottage. We found this unit comfortable, clean and spacious. We stayed in a lot more than we intended because it was so comfortable! Kitchen gives way to dining area which flows into the living room. Primo screened porch off the living room. Charleston was an effortless drive down the coastal road, and one day we traveled the other way and ate at some of the roadside crab shacks. Everything about this off-season trip was easy: the owner, the car rental and driving, the check-in and the sightseeing. We loved it and will go back!

Relaxation +++

Date of Stay: 02/24/11 Review Submitted: 04/01/11

We visited in late February, decidedly out of season, in search of a quiet long weekend and a chance to visit historic Charleston. This place fit the bill perfectly! It was easily reached from the airport in our rental car and the check-in was fast and seamless at Grand Pavilion. Very few of the nearby homes were occupied and we had the place nearly to ourselves. The beach is down a short path through towering shrubs, very close. Impeccably clean, spacious quarters were to be found inside with generous kitchen and living room. Delightful screened porch off the living room where I read for hours. King bed upstairs gave me some of the deepest sleep I've had in years. We spent a day touring Charleston (easy drive) and another cruising the coast. Many choices in dining not far up the road in either direction. Out of season this place is very quiet and peaceful but not far from the gaslight of Charleston or local crab shacks along the SC seashore. The owner was a delight to deal with. Bottom line: we look forward to returning.

Erase the winter doldrums

This past February we stayed at this beach condo, which I now refer to as my sanctuary. I recommend visiting in the off season as a great way to break up a nasty Midwest winter. I live in Ohio and our winter this year was terribly cold. My week at the condo was relaxing and rejuvenating plus I felt right at home. Charleston was very easy to get to from Isle of Palm and we spent a sunny, warm day touring the historic city. I am looking forward to another visit.

Great location:

I recently rented this property with my family and we had a great time. The location could not be more perfect! It is a quick walk to the beach and the pools. The owners buy a recreation pass that allows use of the pool and reduced rates at the golf courses. Plenty of room and the garage is large enough for extra storage. The door locks and unlocks with a code, this way you do not have to worry about keep track or losing keys. We also ate at the Morgan Creek Grill, highly recommended.

I cant imagine how you do this with a house full of new fun in the sun folks coming in every Saturday! The location is perfect. The ocean front pools, and the whole Grand Pavilion ocean front entertaining area is the best I have seen. We never wanted to leave. This is our 4th time at your sweet home and we will be back again this spring. You make it so easy and are really nice to work with. Your rental rates are always good too!!!

We love this townhouse! It decorated very nicely and up to date, clean, and well maintained. The screened in porch was a favorite. My husband and I would start the morning off with coffee and end another lovely day listening to the waves at night. Wild Dunes is a dream- upscale, lush, charming- we cant wait to get back . Also the location of this beach house is perfect, right in the heart of the resort, about a minute to the ocean. The ocean front pools and lounge area is fantastic!

We LOVE THE LOCATION of this cool beach house. It is right in the center of the Resort. The smaller children played on the large green lawn just below the screened in porch. The teens hung out at the ocean front Pavilion with the nice new friends they met. We enjoyed the short walk to great places to eat, the beach (of course!), tennis, golf, bicycle rentals, Deli, and shops. We love the style of decorating, and its clean. We will be back soon!

Thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful home -Palm House. Everything was perfect - big comfortable home. All the amenities like being at home. The close proximity to the beach was very convenient and beautiful. The deck was perfect for relaxing to the sound of the surf. We will definitely be back next year.

The best of both worlds....the seaside golf and tennis resort of Wild Dunes and the city of Charleston only 20 minutes away! I love this house! We stayed here twice already and I am making plans to go back in the Fall of 2010. The living area is awesome, and decorated with a beach theme. And I loved the screened porch. I had breakfast out there and relaxed with an evening snack while listening to the ocean. My dog loved looking out to the courtyard at the passers-by with their dogs, or an occasional squirrel scampering by. The upper deck is right off the master bedroom and is great for sunning. At night I opened the bedroom windows and let the roar of the ocean lull me to sleep. The house is just a few steps to the beach and ocean, - great for getting up early and going for a morning walk to look for shells or taking pictures of the sunrise. The Grand Pavilion is right around the corner with two pools, food and drinks, and entertainment at night. It is also within walking distance of The Boardwalk Inn, a great deli, a restaurant & tennis courts. Charleston is just a short drive, with great shops and restaurants galoreI Be sure to take a horse drawn carriage ride to see the sights! And check out the Sweetgrass basket stands. I can't say enough good things about this house. The owners are extremely nice. They also have two lovely homes in Corolla in the Outer Banks, NC, and I have stayed there as well. And, all their homes are pet friendly! I would recommend this house in a heartbeat to anyone looking for a great seaside vacation. 10 stars!!!

Very Tired Rental

Guest: crazypants (new england)
Date of Stay: 08/18/07 Review Submitted: 07/28/08

I have stayed at Wild Dunes more than 10 times and this was the first time I rented directly from an owner because I wanted to bring my dog. Upon arrival the house was so very dirty, that I insisted that the cleaning people show up the next morning. The furniture was old and the kitchen was run down and lacked adequate cookware. The sliding glass door was falling off the track. Given that the rental rate is quite close to the rate charged by the central booking service, plus the "dog charge", I was literally shocked at the condition of the unit. The owner did not have passes into the general pool area which are typically required for entrance to the oceanfront pools.

Owner response:We were crushed to read your review that you wrote nearly a year after you stayed at our 1.5 million dollar home at the beach. In Response: -Had you let us know that you needed any piece of cookware we could have easily had that sent over. The "run down" kitchen is all tile and had a $2,300 new Jen Air stove. The refrigerator and microwave are both about 3 years old. -Old Furniture?? As seen in the photos, there was a new leather sleeper sofa, coffee table, wing back chairs, and expensive entertainment center. We replaced the dining room chairs and bar stools a little over a year ago. The bedroom furniture is expensive and in great shape. We continually update furniture as it is one of our passions. -The pool passes just need to be picked up. -We had the sliding glass door put back on the track. As we mentioned at the time there was a new french door on order and it was installed . Its beautiful. - We were very unhappy that the home was not cleaned properly and of course had it redone immediately. It is a problem that in a 4 to 5 hour window of time the entire Island has litterally hundreds and hundreds of homes to be cleaned. We make it clear to are guests that we want to know if they need anything, so that we have the opportunity to make there stay delightful. Every 7 days guests bring as many people as possible, including children and often a pet, all ready to party. Week in and week out it takes a huge toll on the beach properties. Is it always perfect? No, but this home is dear to our hearts and we work on it constantly with continual maintence and updates.
