My family and I stayed in this wonderful home for 2 weeks in July/August. The owners have equipped it very nicely with 2 sizable bedrooms, a nice kitchen, several cozy sitting areas, a sun deck out front, and plenty of bathrooms. The house couldn't be located more conveniently, just a 5-10 minute walk into the center of St. Remy. It is remote enough to be quiet and private (behind a security gate which makes you feel safe and protected) but fabulously close to the restaurants and shopping of St. Remy, including a perfect little grocery store so close you can easily walk your grocery bags home. With the home's satellite TV, dishwasher, clothes washer (AND dryer), large refrigerator, and much more, I really can't imagine a much nicer spot to vacation in Provence. My wife and two kids and I would highly recommend it.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We arrived by train from the Avignon TGV station and had no problem finding the house because of the good directions from the owner. The house is in a perfect location in St. Remy. We walked into the town every night for dinner. It was a short walk on sidewalks and we always felt safe walking even in the dark. Lots of options for dining. The house had everything you would need along with a well put together notebook of any questions you would have. We were able to wash clothes and dry them. Not always available. The a/c worked well and cooled down easily when we arrived home after a long day of sight seeing. Kitchen was very user friendly and was set up for cooking which we did not do. My husband and two teenage sons found the house to be very comfortable and they loved the wifi as I did to check e-mails. St. Remy is the perfect location to be for seeing all the sights around Provence. We headed out a different direction every day and found the roads easy to navigate though I would recommend the Michelin map which shows every road or path! We definitely will be back as there is still so much we did not see!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Large spacious bedrooms and baths, lovely sitting/living room, eat-in kitchen and washer and dryer. Wonderful private patio with parking and views of the hillsides. After spending a few days exploring St. Remy we took off to the surrounding towns,, have some down time and then take the walk in to St. Rem for a glass of wine and dinner. The walk was the perfect length, long enough to give some exercise but short enough so we were not too tired out. David and Jenny were very helpful and were ready to answer any questions about the house and area. I would highly recommend this house and would stay here again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.

The Place Mireille property was just about all one could hope for in a Provence village property. In prior years we have rented several other properties in or around St Remy but none had all the amenties we felt were most desireable. Such as a modern, up to date, well kept, home, In The Village. To us these were most important - especially the last: IN THE VILLAGE ! The 5 minute walk was always interesting because of the day-to-day differences in all you would see along the way. Plus, on those hotter Provence days, the air conditioning was especially refreshing to return to in the afternoon after a day of tripping around the many Provence villages. The house itself was well furnished and well taken care of in all respects. The owner led us through the intricacies of a house in France such as the operation of the various appliances. We truly enjoyed our time at this home and hope to return in the future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+.
Owner response: We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. We continue to upgrade and maintain this property and always spend at least two weeks there ourselves so we know the place inside and out. We just added a new tumble dryer and dishwasher. The wi-fi is working perfectly and also provides cable TV with CNN etc (via the phone line) and toll free phone calls to fixed lines in Europe and the USA.

We miss St.Remy so much. This house is so ideal.. So close to the center of town. My husband and I walked everyday to the cafes/restaurants. We also drove to all the nearby attractions which was so great. Location is everything and this house definitely has it. David and his wife really provide everything for the house. We brought our dog and she loved it. Hoping to return next year.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2001
About the owner: We purchased and renovated a "mas" property in the countryside in 1985 when we fell in love this this wonderful corner of Provence. In the early 90's we opened a cooking school there so that we could fulfill our dream of living full time in Saint Remy. The Place Mireille property which we purchased in 2001 will one day be our retirement home but in the meantime, we are renting it so that others might experience and enjoy living like a local in our adopted home town. While staying at Place Mireille, we welcome you to participate in cooking classes and/or table d'hote dinners at our present home, the Mas de Cornud.
Why the Owner Chose St. Remy de Provence:
Saint Remy de Provence is the quintessential village town in Provence and while its shops and restaurants reflect the fine tastes of its affluent visitors and many full and part time residents with interesting backgrounds, beneath the surface is a town of hard working local people, many of whom have been farmers for generations. It is also one of the friendliest places we have ever lived, on your second visit to any shop or restaurant don't be surprised if they remember who you are. Food and wine does not get any better than here and you are you are experiencing living history from Roman to medieval to the modernistic Gare TGV in Avignon.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
Location, location, location - the Place Mireille just a few minutes walk to the center of Saint Remy yet at the same time you feel like you living in the country thanks to the grove of mature olive trees just across from the canal and you look up and see our beloved Alpilles mountains whose rock formations inspired Vincent Van Gogh who spent a year at the asylum near the Roman antiquities of Glanum, all just meters away from this property.
