After reading the other reviews, not sure I can add anything more - just further confirmation. This is indeed a fantastic rental, reasonably priced, great location, open and bright, beautifully appointed. We loved our stay (and it didn't hurt that we had 5 straight days of sunny, warm weather - which in Seattle in May is not the norm). It doesn't get much better than this.

The rental is a delight. It is the upper unit of a bungalow with fabulous views—Olympic Mountains during the day and city lights at night. Situated in a quiet residential neighborhood, it is within walking distance to Fremont’s business district. Our visits to, among others, PCC Natural Markets, Flying Apron, and Pete’s Fremont Fire Pit were definitely worthwhile. Ballard with many wonderful restaurants and bakeries is only a 15-minute drive away. Some of our favorites were Cafe Besalu, Honore Artisan Bakery, and La Carta De Oaxaca. The unit is very clean. The furniture is functional and comfortable. The well-equipped kitchen would please even a professional chef. The owners are friendly and attentive. We had two minor problems involving a smoke detector and a range-hood light—they fixed them right away. We highly recommend this place!

As nice as they are, the pictures do not fully do justice to the high-quality finishes and equipment in this bungalow. The kitchen was very well appointed with every appliance, pan, dish, and cooking implement we needed and a good gas stove with ventilation. The bed was comfortable with very soft sheets and a variety of pillows. The shower pressure was perfect. The woodwork throughout the house looks like it was done by a master carpenter. The giant windows on the west side overlook the shipping canal and the Magnolia/Queen Anne neighborhood on the other side of the water, with mountain views in the distance. Sunsets were spectacular and the sun drenched the house with light as it set. The sun became pretty intense around 5pm until sunset in August since the house faces directly West, and it would have been nice to have some curtains or shades to keep out the heat, but it was an unusually warm summer this year and all that sun would bring welcome warmth in winter. It would have been nice to have another bed for guests - the loft has a mattress but climbing up there would be challenging for some. This house was a great choice for working remotely for a month, with both wired and wireless reliable, fast internet and access to the cable modem to reset it if necessary. The deck off the kitchen has a table and chairs that I used every day to enjoy the ever-changing views while working. The deck was perfectly shaded until mid-afternoon and it was entertaining to see the different types of watercraft plying the canal, from huge barges to single-person kayaks. Squirrels and a variety of birds cavorted in the trees surrounding the deck, providing a relaxing atmosphere for reading and working. Seaplanes passed overhead regularly, a pleasant reminder of just how much water surrounds the city. The neighborhood was quiet and friendly with a large grocery store, restaurants, and coffee shops within easy walking distance, including the main commercial area of Fremont. It was a great central spot for exploring Seattle by bike, with Green Lake, Discovery Park, Golden Gardens, the Burke-Gilman trail, and Lake Washington Blvd South down to Seward Park within reasonable riding distance if you don't mind a few hills. Nearby Recycled Cycles had comfortable bikes at a reasonable price for long term rental with helmet, lock, air pump, and tire repair kit included. I highly recommend the bungalow as a cozy place to get a good feel for what it is like to really live in Seattle.

I stayed at the Baker Avenue Bungalow with my wife and baby daughter for several months, and it was the perfect home away from home. We were looking for a nice place where we didn't have to worry about anything, and it turned out to be ideal. The Pacific Northwest is known for being a bit rainy and grey, but every morning was a little bit better being able to make some local roasted coffee and look out of the view from the huge windows in the kitchen. There is a great craftsman feel to the house, with beautiful wood flooring, but at the same time it has been completely renovated with big screen TV, wired high speed internet and WiFi, and great heating system and hot water. Did I mention that the stove is gas and the BBQ has a propane line? Experience the Pacific Northwest without having to be cold and wet! When it is sunny, the gardens are kept beautifully, and I found it very relaxing to walk down to the lower lawn. It's also nice having trees around the house and birds chirping while being minutes away from downtown for work. I turned the upstairs loft into an office, and we also occasionally had a friend sleep up there on a spare mattress. There are board games and books if you ever get bored. Fremont is a short walk away, with several bars, restaurants, and coffee shops. We also became very familiar with the Ballard Fred Meyer which has every grocery item you could need, and a huge selection of local beers and wines to sample. Tom and Jody are amazing hosts, and were like our extended family while we were here. Jody offered to find us babysitting for our daughter and Tom offered his truck when we needed it. Like I said, we came looking for a nice place where we didn't have to worry about anything, and we found it. Every detail is taken care of in this beautifully restored house, and expect to be complimented by people passing the house on how beautiful it is. The pictures are actually what it looks like. I had to say several times "thank you, but we don't own it!" If you stay here once it will become your home away from home in Seattle too.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in both units. We stayed in the Garden (lower) unit for a week and in the Main (upper) unit for a year. Both spaces were wonderful and look exactly like the photos! Everything you need is in the unit and the property is well maintained with access to a gorgeous, mature garden, gas BBQs and decks overlooking the canal. We shared one car and this was no problem as the Burke-Gilman trail is a few blocks away and gives you <10min walking access to groceries, restaurants and chic boutiques. We would recommend this place to working travellers, vacationers or anyone else looking to stay in a clean, spacious and bright space.

Spending a few days with family in the North West, coming from Germany - staying at this house was certainly one of the ingridients to make it a just wonderful experience for the whole family. The house is just lovey, even exceeding pics and the description. Everything seemed like new and super clean (even as to German standards if there are any :-)) so certainly did not regret getting this place for a minute. The locations is perfect for downtown activities (took us less then 10mins to Pike Place), as well as has great connection to I5 going North or South. Definitively rating this 5 stars and if would come back, certainly want to make sure we get into the house again. Thanks!

On the hillside overlooking Ballard, clean, comfortable and private, quiet neighborhood with no traffic sounds made for a good nights sleep. The adjoining outside deck has a gas grill and has multilayered views of the Ballard Bridge, hills beyond and the Olympic Mts. The comfortable open floor plan, WI/FI, big flat screen t.v., vaulted ceiling, little touches like heated towel bar made this a great Seattle getaway. We walked up to a little coffee shop each morning to start our day. This place feels like home!

I stayed at the Baker Avenue Bungalow for almost 2 months over the summer of 2009. The house was perfect for my needs. The location of the bungalow is perfect. It's close to downtown and the U of Washington, but located in a nice and quiet neighborhood. The high speed WiFi let me do lots of work without leaving the bungalow, which was great. I loved the wood in the bungalow, and got lots of use in the fully renovated kitchen. Also, I thought the value of the bungalow was really high compared to other properties I considered. I was sad to leave the bungalow when my stay was over, and hope to be able to stay there again in the future.

Had a great stay at the Bungalow in October and it made my business trip to Seattle real comfortable. So nice that it is in the neighborhoods, but close to both Ballard and Fremont downtown areas. Really enjoyed hitting up the Burke/Gillman bike trail almost every day and getting lighthouse Coffee right up the street.

About the owner: Tom and Jody are longtime Alaskan residents with strong ties to Seattle. Tom has been actively involved in the commercial fishing industry in Alaska for over 30 years. After raising two boys Jody now spends her summers in Ketchikan, Alaska working for a kayaking company. Tom and Jody are outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy skiing, hiking, biking, kayaking and gardening.

                      Why the Owner Chose Fremont:
The Ballard Bungalow is near the fishermen's terminal and located in one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in all of Seattle. It is located very close to the Burke Gilman Bike Trail and right along the Seattle Metro's Route 28. It's within easy walking distance to the zoo and a five minute walk to Fremont's shopping district and Ship Canal. Several coffee shops, Fred Meyer and Trader Joe's are all very near. It's an approximate 20 minute drive from SeaTac Airport, 10 minutes to downtown Seattle and 10 minutes from The University of Washington campus. Its location makes the bungalow a great option for people with or without a vehicle.

The Unique Benefits at this Bungalow:
The bungalow is an urban retreat in the heart of Seattle. Its located on a large lot that feels comfortable, and the bungalow itself has been completely remodeled. The friendly neighborhood and great neighbors will make you feel right at home, and the great southeast exposure provides plenty of sunshine.
