This spacious mountain home has the 'feel' of a cabin, the 'comfort' of a home, and the 'affordability' of a local motel. We want to let you know everything available to you this summer (see below). We are new to the business of renting out our treasured home and we would very much like to share the benefits of building a 'returning guest' list. In order to do that, we price our home low, while offering all the pleasures our guests might anticipate.
Our greatest feature, however, is our location. Although we are located just minutes from Snow Summit, the Village and the lake, we are just outside the 'busy' city, up the hill about 1/4 mile, on a dead end street which affords less traffic, and an elevated view. Adjacent to the end of the street, begins a series of hiking trails maintained by the San Bernardino National Forest.
Imagine entering the 'cabin-like' living room and dining room, then walking through the well-stocked kitchen with an island and breakfast bar, past the stairs leading up to the second level bedrooms, bath and balcony, then entering the master bedroom, complete with king sized bed, wood burning fireplace, large closet space and master bath on the right. Through the sliding glass doors, you see a balcony with an inviting view that can be seen while lounging in the spa, or just sitting around the natural gas BBQ.
Our winter guests will enjoy the convenience of a natural gas heating system, fireplaces in two of the bedrooms, and a pot-bellied stove in the living room. We have a mud room/laundry room with a deep utility sink that you’ll find very useful. The large, two-car garage comes in very handy during snow conditions.
Big Bear averages about five or six good snowfalls a year, and the nearby Ski Slopes manage to keep open between snowfalls. But in case you’re not overjoyed about putting on snow chains, you’ll find that there are many days where the roads are open to all vehicles. So why not take the kids for a two-night stay. After a good snowfall, kids will enjoy great sledding right in our neighborhood.

As you can see on the map, we are on a dead-end street which keeps traffic down. We are close (200 yards) to the 'Town Trail' maintained by the San Bernardino National Park if you are interested in a little hiking. Just down the hill from us about 1/4 mile is Big Bear Blvd which is the main road from the Village to the Ski Slopes and Downtown shops and grocery stores. Our home has the 'feel' of a mountain cabin because when you're on one of our two balconies, you don't even realize that there are neighbors. You're not down in a 'neighborhood' that probably looks similar to the place at home where you're trying to 'get-a-way' from. What can I say? You'll love it!

About the owner: Our family grew up in Southern California. We remember taking advantage of the local skiing in Big Bear during the winter and attending YMCA camp during the summer.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes: In addition to being just minutes from all that Big Bear has to offer, the structure sits on a hill with views extending for miles. We are also towards the top of a dead-end street, so there is very little traffic and we enjoy a sense of privacy.
