Flying Leap is a spacious 4-bedroom, 2.5 bathroom mountain lodge nestled in the forests of Zephyr Cove, Nevada. We're on a private little half-acre, overlooking our own little gateway to Tahoe's vast National Forestlands. You can see the ski slopes of Heavenly Valley from the living room, office loft and both back decks.
The house is professionally cleaned between each visit and stocked with fresh linens, towels and even little hotel soaps. You don't have to sacrifice privacy and intimacy with nature to be near downtown South Lake Tahoe. The National Forest starts in your backyard, with trails that run from the house all the way up to the peaks and beyond. Despite being nestled up against the forest, we're just minutes from downtown, with its casinos, ski resort, golf courses and beaches.
In fact, in just 10-15 minutes, you can walk down to Nevada Beach State Park to take a dip in Lake Tahoe. That beach has some of the best combined lake and mountain views you'll ever see, along with a nice assortment of bike trails, BBQ pits, picnic tables, kayak rentals, and other fun activities. Or you can drive about 8 minutes over to Zephyr Cove beach, where they have a fun bar, volleyball, sailboat charters, jetskiing, para-sailing, paddlewheel tours to Emerald Bay, and much more. In addition, there is a Safeway just 3 minutes from the house, so cooking for your friends and family will be simple.
Our comfortable home features a living room, dining room and kitchen that run together to form a Great Room, perfect for entertaining your entire group. With views of the forest and ski slopes, two large outdoor decks, a huge kitchen, a two-car garage, a loft with home office, a washer/dryer, high speed cable internet, private WiFi network, bar with fixed stools, two and a half bathrooms, and a dining room that seats 12+.
The house is available for rent throughout the year at affordable prices for families and other groups. It's a gorgeous, well-loved mountain lodge that you make you feel right at home, without ever letting you forget that you're on vacation.

What a great house and the setting is incredible. The national forest is right in the back yard and the slopes of Heavenly are only a 5 minute drive. The house is huge. The open layout was perfect for relaxing after skiing. There is a great combination of shared and private space so you can get a break if you need to. And the upper-deck is a sun trap! I was able to lounge out there in shorts and a t-shirt in March. Thanks. We'll be back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/1

Great location very convenient to the supermarket and rental store, and just a few minutes from Heavenly. Would definitely rent again. The owner was very easy to deal with, and I could see myself coming back here year after year.Recommended for: Adventure seekers.

I stayed here on a ski trip with my boyfriend and some of his friends. This is a great spot for relaxing and cooking huge meals with your friends. House has a lot of cool little features like a double headed shower in the master bath. Awesome kitchen is open to the dining room and living room for nice social space. Definitely the nicest place I've been in Tahoe.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks Annie, I'm glad you enjoyed the house! We look forward to having you guys back next year.

About the owner: My name's Ryan and I'm the owner of Flying Leap, a beautiful mountain home in Zephyr Cove, NV. I haven't been able to spend as much time as I'd like at my second house due to a hectic work schedule this year. So I'm renting it to let others share in the magic.
Why the Owner Chose Zephyr Cove:
It's been my dream to own a house in Lake Tahoe since I first went up there as an undergraduate at UC Berkeley. With the collapse of home prices over the last couple of years, Flying Leap's market value fell by almost two-thirds, bringing it within my price range.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
* Privacy and intimacy with nature: the house faces the National Forest which starts in the back yard and continues for 10 million acres * Ski resort views: You can see the slopes of Heavenly Valley from the living room, office loft and back deck * Classic architecture with style and character: Lofty ceilings, gorgeous wood beams, and lots of hardwood in a sweeping multi-level layout * Minutes from downtown South Lake Tahoe: 5-10 minuets will take you to gambling, skiing, beaches and everything else the area has to offer * Walk to the beach: A 15 minute walk will bring you to Nevada Beach State Park, with its gorgeous sunset views over the Lake. * Safeway is around the corner: Although the house is nestled against the forest, a giant 24-hour grocery store is just a few minutes away.
