Difficult to decide in the winter whether to sit on the sofa and read a book as you look out at the stunning scenery from the nearly floor to ceiling picture windows, step off the back porch to cross-country ski, snow-shoe, or put on your boots and walk over to the nearby ski lifts. This meadow location is perfect for a relaxing, inspiring getaway. (South Lake Tahoe and Minden, Nevada are just a 45 minute drive away for those who want the more active evenings.)
Exposed pine wood throughout, open architecture, roomy at approximately 1450 square feet, Lost Cabin is one of Kirkwood's treasured properties. This meadow-front property is your perfect snow vacation getaway. Ideal for children and adults alike complete with a cabinet full of family games. Additional photos available upon request.
Base level is a two car garage, porch, and mud room. Middle floor contains the master bedroom with large windows, natural maple framed queen bed with pillow top mattress, and a generous sized master bath with jacuzzi bath tub and two sinks. Television with DVD/VCR player and cable television. Guest bedroom has two twin beds, dresser, large window. Separate bathroom with shower. The top level contains a small balcony overlooking the ski mountain, small 1/2 bath, full kitchen generously stocked with amenities and herbs, large dining table for 6 or more, opening out into the family room area with a gas stove, 40' high def television with HD digital cable, hi speed internet, sleeper sofa, love seat, and an upholstered chaise lounge (also good for sleeping - you will fight over this!). Raised ceilings and oversized windows reaching almost wall to wall and floor to ceiling give stunning views of the meadow and Red Cliffs mountain.

Year Purchased: 1999
About the owner: I am a retired school teacher, with both children off to college and living their own lives. I'm a passionate skier, hiker, nature lover. I come to Kirkwood to play, relax, enjoy the splendor, and breathe. I think of my renters as my personal guests, and do all that I can to make them feel welcome and comfortable. Also as I do puppy rescue, I welcome owners with dogs.
Why the Owner Chose Kirkwood:
Lost Cabin provides the balance of the best location and best designed property in Kirkwood. When my children were younger, we found ourselves only skiing at Kirkwood. Found it consistantly had the best snow, was the closest location, the safest mountain, well maintained, and amazing terrain. We still feel this way! Avoid the crowds and traffic of other Sierra Nevada resorts and come to Kirkwood!
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Perfect location - set back from the main drive and mountain so most of the snow grooming noise that can be so sleep depriving at night is avoided. Stunning views of the meadow. And yet still a very short walk to the lifts. Open, spacious architecture give more of a home feel than a small ski condo.
