Stunning oceanfront home on Pacific. View is spectacular. Perfectly located between Honolulu and the North Shore. Kids loved the pool and the nearby beaches (Kailua and Lanikai). Would definitely return.

We spent a fabulous week in this spectacular house. It met and exceeded all of our expectations. The view was breath taking! The house is so comfortable and inviting. We slept with the windows open and the sound of the waves crashing the shore. The location was exceptional - close to the beautiful sandy beaches in Kailua, easy drive to Honolulu and North Shore. Everything we needed from beach towels/toys, pool toys to spices/utensils in the kitchen were on hand. Laura with Trinity was so helpful and responsive. We can not wait to return!!! To the owners... Mahalo for sharing your beautiful home!

For a premium rental, I would expect newer tv's and not the old 27" CRT ones. On the master bedroom tv there was a label that the dvd player was broken and did not refer to the old dvd that was in the covered portion of the cabinent. I would love to see the pool heated more. All it would take was a cover, avail at Home Depot for $70.00, to keep the heat up.

Our expectations were met and surpassed. You should not pass up the opportunity to stay in this lovely home. A comfortable and elegant property in a great location. The management company was very accommodating and informative. We also received a wonderful welcome basket upon our arrival from the owner. We usually rent homes instead of hotels and this is one of the finer properties we have exprienced.

The view from this house truely has the WOW! factor and will wake anyone's senses. From the ocean's 24 hr luliby to the shades of blue as the ocean parts the shore and meets the sky will not soon be forgotten. With our teenage son and his friend, we settled here for a week and the house met our expectations on every level. I recommend it to anyone seeking an esthetically beautiful

Location is a little out of the way for Kailua/Lanakai but I believe it's priced right for that. Neighborhood is nice, although there are some very "tired" homes nearby, most are well kept and friendly neighbors. Public access nearby to tiny rocky beach, mostly good for access for SUPs or Kayaks. House was redone in 1999 and is as well kept as it can be based on that. Pool is refreshing, could be cleaner on the sides, a little algae. Oceanfront is gorgeous but absolutely notswimmable.Quiet location but some minor construction was going on in house next door. Bedroom layout is good for family with three kids, one king room is semi-private with shutters only. The Chinese day bed is not really intended for sleeping. Would stay again if price was a factor, but would always prefer more central Kailua location and swimmable beachfront. Having the pool helped a lot though.house at water's edge in the land of aloha.

Trinity Properties were very helpful and made the rental process effortless. The house was very beautiful and in a great location. Only disappointing factor was there wasn't a 2nd floor deck facing the ocean. Otherwise property was great!

My family stayed at Kaimalino Kai when my son returned home to HI after being deployed for nine months. What an ideal location for some R&R for him, and some quality family time for all of us. The ocean and mountain views are incredible. Be sure to get up early enough to watch the gorgeous sunrise from the deck, kitchen, or living room. You won't want to miss it! If I had to find something to remark negatively about, it would be that the refrigerator's ice maker and water dispenser weren't working. We were constantly purchasing bottled water and making ice to keep up with the family's needs. Also, some minor/normal wear and tear of the living room sofa and rug was noticed. However, even with those minor things mentioned, they in no way negatively impacted the joy we experienced at Kaimalino Kai.

Thank you for sharing this incredible home with us! We spent three fabulous weeks with our five young children this past july and august. The home is just as beautiful, if not more than the pictures presented on this site. It is immaculate and well maintained . Sounds of crashing waves can be heard throught the home! It is a dream.... You would most likely benifit from a rental car while staying at this home, as the center of Kailua (including it's beach) is about a ten miniute drive. Kailua, a beautiful beach community, has been voted the best beach in America. It is also a reasonable under thirty miniute drive to Waikiki Beach (Honolulu) through the most beautiful mountain road you can immagine. You can also drive up or down the coast to find your own stunning, usually empty beach. The North Shore is probably around a 40 miniute drive, but no one looks at the time, the view is too spectacular. I would highly recommend this property!!

Dear Chong family, we cannot thank you enough for opening up your beautiful home to us. It was in every way perfect! We spent three wonderful weeks in this spectacular home situated in the lovely beach community of Kailua. The house is immaculate, easy to care for (no clutter), is decorated with beautiful paintings painted by the owner's daughter and has out of this world views. You can hear the waves crashing throughout the house ! The grounds and pool were well maintained and came with an abundant amount of pool and beach toys (the kids were thrilled). Nothing was missing from the well appointed kitchen and even those who do not like to cook will want to cook in this kitchen with it's dramatic views and ocean sounds. The house is just as beautiful as the pictures suggest, if not more in person. We also love the town of Kailua, this being our second trip here. Kailua Beach was voted the most beautiful in America. It has ample beach sport equipment rental possibilities as well, such as Kyaking. It's a dream to go jogging down the beach here at sunset. The only downside is that it can be a little windy, that being the reason why you can boogie board and participate in wave/wind related activities. My three year olds prefered the calmer waters of Waikiki Beach. Kailua is a wonferful small town where you can find anything that you would need (Whole Foods, Macys, Longs Drugs etc.) Kailua as a location is also fantastic. We always rent a vehicle in order to explore the island. It is ideally located less than 30 min. away from Waikiki Beach/Honolulu and probably the same distance to the North Shore. You can jump in your car and beach hop all day to deserted beaches driving northward or southward, they are all beautiful, it's hard to pick a favorite. If you are interested in surfing, my 9 year old twins, seven year old daughter and I took lessons from Faith Surfing School in Waikiki ( located at the Outrigger Waikiki Hotel) and I would highly recommend them. We had the time of our lives! We were quite saddened to leave Oahu, Kailua and this home! We hope to be able to return soon. Thank you again, sincerely the Cecere family (Montreal, Canada)

Owner response: We're so pleased that your family enjoyed the stay at Kaimalino Kai. Please come back someday and stay with us again. Thank you for telling us about your experience in Kailua.

We had the pleasure of staying at Kaimalino Kai for 10 days in July. We were three adults and one toddler. The house was everything we expected and more. I cannot express how breathtaking the view from the upstairs is. The pictures don't do it justice. Wake up early and enjoy the sunrise over the horizon. We enjoyed the open nature of the kitchen/dining/living room. We would have music playing over the built in speakers each day which made the upstairs an oasis. The rest of the house was just as nice. It was obvious the owners took great care in the design, construction, and furnishings throughout the house. The little touches were there which resonate well with me. Soft towels and bedsheets, mattress toppers, high quality cookware, pool toys, gourmet kitchen, strong water pressure. Each of the bedrooms had it's own air conditioning unit if you wanted to escape the humidity. Otherwise, opening the windows gave you that nice sea breeze. We all slept very well. The kitchen was stocked very well for families ready to cook during their stay. All the spices and basics were there. There was a Safeway supermarket 1 mile away and a much nicer Whole Foods about 4 miles away. If you wanted to order food for takeout, the kitchen is stocked with menu's and recommendations. The pool was well maintained. About 4 feet deep. It was a great alternative to the beach. The owners kept a nice collection of beach and pool toys including boogie boards, noodles, and pails. It saved us the hassle of renting stuff. When we went to the beach, it was only a 5 minute drive. Kailua beach has 2 parking lots which were never a problem to park in. Lanikai took a bit more thought. The waves were fun yet gentle in Kailua. A great place for children. North Shore is a bit more dangerous for young children because of the strong undertow. Aside from not being on a swimming beach, location was excellent. The shoreline is sharp and rocky behind the house. You can enjoy the sound of waves crashing on the rocks back there. The house is also near a little cove of shallow water that sea turtles frequent. We saw at least 8 milling about. Pretty cool, especially for my toddler to see. For sightseeing, the drive to Honolulu was 30 minutes, 1 hour to the North Shore, 20 minutes to Hanauma Bay. I had 1 minor issue. Wifi was inconsistent. Salt corrosion seemed to be the issue in the connector. Time warner fixed it promptly. Bottom line is the house is terrific and you won't be disappointed.

Owner response: We're so happy that your family had a great experience. Kailua is our home away from home. Please come back someday with your family. Sincerely, the Chong Family.

My family rents homes once or twice per year, typically on the water in places such as Lake Tahoe, Hawaii, Chesapeake Bay, the Carolinas, and the Puerto Vallarta area of Mexico. We also own condos in Maui and Puerto Vallarta. So, it takes a lot to impress us. Kaimalino Kai is beautiful inside and out, and has a to-die-for location on a rocky beach in Kailua -- a much more laid back part of Oahu, very near where President Obama and his family sometimes vacation. Our vacation habits typically revolve around reading, entertaining, long walks, and sampling new restaurants. If you like the sound of the ocean waves, and demand a comfortable, impeccabily furnished and maintained home, this is for you. It is suitable for up to 6 adults in our opinion, with three bedrooms and three baths. The bedroooms are all on the first floor, along with a living room, as well as extensive outdoor decks facing the ocean. One of the bedrooms opens onto the living room area, but it can be closed off for total privacy (there is a separate entry door into it from the main hallway). One of the baths is upstairs. But it is the upstairs great room that will bring us back. The pictures do not begin to do it justice. This, combined with an additional outdoor lanai area overlooking the very private front (yes, front) yard pool and BBQ area, are to die for. The pool area is wonderful in its own right. We entertained three other couples one afternoon/evening, and they all were very impressed. One of the men brought his kayak, which he was able to alunch on a sandy beach area nearby -- the entry to which is about 200 yards from the home. We BBQd in the front yard while the ladies waded in the warm pool, then retired to the great room for a wonderful meal surrounded by the sounds of the waves on the beach and with a view of a beautiful sunset. Due to the high quality of this home and its furnishings we do not think it is suitable for young children. All rentals we have visited are lovely, but there is often a drawback or two, such as a cramped master bath or furniture that is showing its age. Nothing of that sort will greet you here. We will be back.

Owner response: Thank you for the wonderful review. Nothing pleases us more than hearing that guests staying at our house really enjoyed our home and all that it has to offer. We put a lot of time, effort and money into maintaining an oceanside home which is constantly battered by the elements of the sea, so hearing that any guest appreciates all of this work really warms our heart. We're so glad that you came to stay with us, and you are certainly welcome to come back soon.

this home is the best place to stay on holiday! starting from the cup of coffee on the front deck waiting for the sunrise, listening to the sound of the waves pounding the rocks , to walking the beach and seeing the turtles in the bay. Move on to walking the beach on the fine white sand lined with tall palm trees with the cooling breeze and warm water lapping. Great place to stay at home or have a base to explore the island: very peaceful and homely. Return home to that gorgeous view of the ocean! You don't get over that Wow factor! Take a trip to Waikiki beach and paddle out on an outrigger to catch the waves or go bodysurfing on the North Shore! Cool off back at home doing a few laps of the pool and sit with a glass of wine in the garden with the scent of gardenias amid the lush vegetation. then sit out on the lei in the evening with the stunning views of the mountains which seem to rise up from the end of the garden. we will definitely return! indoors when you want a change from eating out the kitchen is the sociable hub of the house, or barbeque out by the pool. just amazing!

This place is great for families. The living room has three walls of glass with panoramic ocean views. To the right you can see the talcum power sand of Kailua Beach and beyond that you can see the Moka lua islands. The louvered windows let the ocean breezes in and the entire kitchen/living/dining area takes on the feeling of a huge lanai. We didn’t even need the A/C, the ocean breeze kept us so refreshed. The pool was bathtub warm, the kids didn’t want to leave. Don’t worry about mosquitoes; there wasn’t a single one the entire week. Be sure to walk down the beach access path about 6 houses over. The water is shallow and calm. You are sure to see some turtles in the water. Bring snorkel gear. Families will appreciate Safeway, which is about 2 mins away. After taking my family to Oahu, after visiting Maui and Kauai. We think Oahu is superior for a family vacation. Why? Dining options and variety. We like to sample the local cuisine; you can’t find places like Ono’s, Rainbow, Side Street Inn, and Leonard’s in the other islands. And both my 5-year-old boy and 10-year-old girls loved Pearl Harbor and the attractions there. Side note: Ever since I first saw the Moka Lua Islands 25 years ago I have wanted to swim there. This time I did it. It is a perfect island to beach swim. You can see the bottom the whole way, the on-shore currents gently nudge you along and you can hire someone from Kailua Sailboards to follow you back. The island itself is worth the trip, it is a bird sanctuary and you can see the indigenous birds up close as they nest on the ground right off the beach. Takes only 15-20 minutes in a two man kayak out, then put on a pair of swim goggles and have someone follow you back. The staff at Kailua Sailboards is very supportive and for a tip they will do it with you, just ask them. Plus you get bragging rights for the rest of the day! Claudia from Trinity made the swim too as I understand so you can ask her about it.

The pictures on the website are beautiful but when you are here in person it is absolutely amazing. The feeling you get just by being in the home is so wonderful! I felt like I just spent a week in heaven! :) My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The beds are so comfortable!! You can't swim out back but beaches where you can swim are just a short walk away! We loved hearing the ocean so close and at night we even heard whales. Anything you can think of they have there! Beach towels, pool floaties, boogie boards, they even had tons of spices and various kitchen appliances! The house was meticulously maintained and very clean. I wanted to cry when we had to leave. :( Until next time....

The house is exceptionally well-appointed and conveniently located: beach front (rocky, fun for kids to explore sea life and tide pools), close to Kailua dining/shopping. But you won't want to go out because the house is so spectacular and comfortable! Spacious enough for a family of 4-6 to enjoy each other but also get "privacy." Satellite TV, wi-fi, kitchen is suitable for gourmet home chef. Lap pool set amidst a lush, well-tended tropical garden. Enjoy the sunrise from the great room, a cocktail in the evening on the breezy lanai facing the mountains, order take out from a local restaurant to enjoy by the pool, fall asleep to the sound of the ocean. We had a wonderful time, first with extended family and then just our immediate family on a return trip. We'll definitely be back!

My wife & I had the pleasure of staying in this Kailua oceanfront house for one week in December. We shared it with two other couples. The weather was idyllic; warm and sunny. The house is sited directly on the Kailua coast with absolutely stunning sunrises and coastal views. I'm an architect, so of particular interest to me was the magazine article describing the major addition and total renovation of the house. True to form, the addition/renovation took maximum advantage of views and siting, while successfully integrating the other necessary living functions. Further, the salty coastal exposure, while soothing to the human soul, begets a high maintenance condition. Rapid corrosion of metal parts and building materials creates an unending need to replace, repair and repaint; a headache of ownership. From my observation, his house has been successfully maintained. I recommend this lovely home if you are looking for a truly rejuvenating, relaxing, and memorable vacation in Hawaii.

Original review posted at http://www.trinitypropertieshawaii.com/FOR_RENT/OAHU/Kaimalino_Kai.php Elizabeth K from Phoenix, AZ recommends this property Stayed 6 days in September, 2009 The home was beautiful and the view was spectacular. Everything we needed was there from kitchen supplies to beach towels. The photos were a little misleading as to the layout of the house, but in no way were we disappointed. The pool is in the front yard and all the bedrooms are downstairs. The guest room with the sitting area is actually open to the living room and separated by a folding door. The lanai on the second floor faces the frontyard/pool area; we loved having breakfast out there every morning looking at the beautiful mountains in front of us. Definitely a great experience!

Original review submitted at http://www.trinitypropertieshawaii.com/FOR_RENT/OAHU/Kaimalino_Kai.php "We ( my husband, 2 teen daughters, and I ) were all thrilled with this gorgeous home- the location, the waves crashing on the shore, the decor (each room had a special feeling.) The views were all beautiful and the pool was a wonderful addition. We will be back and we highly recommend this gracious home."
