The apartment offers a rare view on a charming square planted with spanish oak trees, the “Place Emile Goudeau'. In 1920-40, the building was the furnished “hotel du Poirier” (Pear tree hotel). Many famous guests lived in (MODIGLIANI, Albert CAMUS, Max JACOB …). PICASSO and other painters artists lived across in the “BATEAU LAVOIR”.
This unique apartment sleeps 4. Located at the third floor, it is very bright and has many large windows (four in total). All our guests have enjoyed it very much.
The apartment has been largely renovated in 2012. It is located on the 3rd floor (Fr standard). It offers a living room with 2 large windows, an open kitchen, one bedroom, and a bathroom.
The furniture is a mix of antique wooden French furniture and pictures, and modern pieces as the bed, comfortable convertible sofa and closet.
We are living on the 4th floor, just above. We are here if you need help, but do not worry, we will not be intrusive.
On the left of the building is the 'Abbesses' district, on the right the Old Montmartre village. All the rooms enjoy a view of the square. The area is very safe : we are in the same block as the fruit & vegetable stand featured in the famous movie “Le Destin d’Amélie Poulain”. The Abbesses subway station is 2 mn walk and the Sacre Coeur Church a few hundred yards. Most interesting places in Paris may be reached in 15mn.
As a bonus, Phone calls to land lines in France, and to US, Canada and australia are generaly free. It is also true for more than 50 countries. More over, calls to cell phones towards specific countries (often US & Canada) may also be free. Ask us for detail as it may vary with time and policies of operators.

Nice, comfy and charming apt in a Butte Montmartre

The apartment was really comfortable, we(two adults) stayed about 10 days in February. The heater (equipped in each room) is warm enough. The explication on website is accurate. The kitchen and bathroom are not so huge, but equipments(coffee cups, dishes, glasses) are more than sufficient for 10 days, and we had no problems for water pressure/hot water. The stairs in the apt are a bit narrow, it was not an issue for me, but huge suitcases are not appropriate. If any problem happens, Jean Noel and other member of the team solve the problem in a timely manner. We enjoyed life in historical Montmartre so much.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We just wanted to let you know we had a wonderful time using apartment Douis in Montmartre. It suited our family of four perfectly. I was able to go to the boulangerie just outside the building for baguettes and croissants as well as the shops on nearby Rue Lepic for cheese and other supplies. We loved Montmartre and the rest of Paris, which was easily accessible from the Abbesses or Pigalle metro stops. We certainly had an opportunity to work off some of the great food we were eating, by walking up to the building and then up the stairs to our apartment. Overall we had a great experience in Paris and we were happy that we found no "surprises" when we got to the apartment. In fact it was bigger than expected. Hopefully we will be able to come back some day.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

I would be happy to recommend the apartment at Place Emile Goudeau. While in Paris we took a train out to Versailles. A six or five year old girl was holding on to her dad's arm in one of the palace rooms and said, "I'd like to live here!" I thought that was simply the spirit of the place and feel that same about this apartment. The apartment is clean, well furnished, all the things that you have in your own homes, where ever that might be. I hope I can come back for a longer stay!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

Thank you for letting us stay at your apt. The place Emile Goudeau is in fact not one of, but to us the nicest place to live in Montmartre. We really felt as Montmartrais and loved the atmosphere of the apt Douis high over Paris. We felt at home! Thanks you also for the deposit. It has already arrived.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We loved our stay in this charming, quirky old building. The neighborhood is outstanding. I loved drinking my coffee in the living room and listening to the French accordian music wafting up from the cobblestone streets below. It was thrilling to look out our window and see the actual studio where Picasso worked. The bathroom took some getting used to - there was no curtain on the window so, well, Hello Paris! The shower is small and so is the hot water heater but if you go easy on the water pressure you can have a reasonable shower. For such a busy neighborhood this apartment is very quiet and peaceful at night. Also super close to metro. It's up three flights of little awkward stairs and no elevator so make sure you're reasonably fit. I fell in love with Montmartre in this charming little apartment!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: As you know we refurbished the apt a few weeks before your stay. The workers forgot to put the curtains back in the bathroom. I did it the WE after you left as you can see from the photo.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2000
About the owner: Just a point, important to us. We decided to rent the apartment on a short-term basis because customers are mainly foreigners. We enjoy meeting foreign people and believe this is a way to meet nice people as well as getting some return on the apartment. We want people to enjoy their stay as much as possible.
Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 18:
The apt is on a famous square, formerly called place du Bateau Lavoir, where PICASSO had its studio. We live in Montmartre since 1992 and will never leave the area. Montmartre is really a village. One easily meets people around here. Not like in a big city.
We are living in the apt uptstairs and have bought this other apt with the idea of transforming ours in a duplex once kids will become teenagers.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
We feel on holidays everyday. Light, charm, nice people around, and No cars, No stress.
