This unique 2 bedroom apartment sleeps 6. It is located on the 3rd floor(Fr standard). The apartment opens on a charming square, the “Place Emile Goudeau". In 1920-40, the building was the furnished “hotel du Poirier” (Pear tree hotel). Many famous guests lived in (MODIGLIANI, Albert CAMUS, Max JACOB …). PICASSO and other painters artists lived across in the “BATEAU LAVOIR”.

On the left is the Abbesses district, on the right is the Old Montmartre village. All the rooms enjoy a view of the square. The square is planted with big Spanish Oak trees. One also have a view of Paris from the bedroom window. The area is very safe and calm.

We are in the same block as the fruit and vegetable stand featured in the famous movie "Le Destin d’Amélie Poulain.". The Abbesses subway station is 2 mn walk and the Sacre Coeur Church a few hundred yards. Most interesting places in Paris may be reached in 15mn.

The apartment has been entirely renovated in summer 2002. It has a living room and kitchen, two bedrooms, and a bathroom. Located at the third floor, it is very bright and has many windows (six in total). All our guest have enjoyed it very much.

The furniture is typical, vintage, wooden, French furniture. Some of it has value. We trust people to respect it.

As a bonus, Phone calls to land lines in France, and to US, Canada and australia are generaly free. It is also true for more than 50 countries. More over, calls to cell phones towards specific countries (often US & Canada) may also be free. Ask us for detail as it may vary with time and policies of operators.

We are living on the fourth floor, just above. We are here if you need help, but do not worry, we will not be intrusive.

Just a point, important to us. We decided to rent the apartment on a short-term basis because customers are mainly foreigners. We enjoy meeting foreign people and believe this is a way to meet nice people as well as getting some return on the apartment. We want people to enjoy their stay as much as possible.

Here is one of the last mail we received from one of our guests.

Bonsoir Jean, many thanks for the superb vacation primarily due to your lovely apartment and the spectacular location.

We also left some butter and eggs as we thought they might be of use to someone and it seemed a shame to throw them out.

The family really enjoyed the Montmartre experience and its lively street scene. Again thank you for your wonderful hospitality and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Montmartre - Abbesses View on Paris -2BR-Where Picasso Lived

Year Purchased: 2000

Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 18

The apt is on a famous square, formerly called place du Bateau Lavoir, where PICASSO had its studio. We live in Montmartre since 1992 and will never leave the area. Montmartre is really a village. One easily meets people around here. Not like in a big city.

We are living in the apt uptstairs and have bought this other apt with the idea of transforming ours in a duplex once kids will become teenagers.

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment

We feel on holidays everyday. Light, charm, nice people around, and No cars, No stress.

A
Le bateau Lavoir - Picasso Studio

Destroyed by a firte in 1970 it was rebuilt by the city and now receives artisits in residence.

B
Le moulin de la Galette

One of the 2 last wind mills of Montmartre. Montmartre used to be an industrial area in the 18ies. No less than 35 windmills were built.

C
Sacre coeur Gardens

Very nice gardens. Do not forget to climb on the top of the sacre coeur. Incredible sensation to walk on carved stairs of the stone roof.

Charming Accommodation and Great Value

This is a lovely apartment in a picturesque neighbourhood. Terrific location: very close to Abbesses metro station and lots of great shops. The apartment is spotless, very comfortable and well maintained. It was well appointed: it had everything we needed and all appliances worked very well. The weather during our visit was chilly and damp, but we were cosy and warm in Apartment Douis. We would definitely stay here again!

Our recent trip to Paris

Date of Stay: 07/11/11 Review Submitted: 08/29/11

On our recent trip to Paris, we rented apartment DOUIS (07/11-07/25/2011). Because I was travelling with my teenage granddaughters (ages 15 and almost 17), the accommodations were perfect and comfortable (two bedrooms). We were close to the Metro, so our transportation was very convenient and efficient. We ate breakfast in the apartment every morning, and most evenings we pick up prepared food nearby for dining “at home.” The convenience of the in-house laundry facilities was a real bonus as well. The temperature in the apartment was always comfortable because of the shade provided by the huge chestnut trees outside the windows. Our sightseeing activities were enhanced by the fact that we could look forward to a relaxing dinner and evening spent “at home” after an exhausting day of exploration. My granddaughters took themselves to Disneyland on our last Saturday in Paris and had a wonderful time riding the Metro and trains on their own. Our Paris experience was awesome and we will return!

Hi Jean Noel, My friend and I loved our stay in Paris; it was perfect in every way. We loved the apartment; it was especially fun facing the court yard and listening to the music and the sounds below, that was truly enjoyable. We would definitely love to come back and stay in the same apartment. Thank you for making yourself available and helping us when we needed it. It was delightful meeting you and your wife. We loved the area. Thank you again and we hope to see you again some day. Our regards to you and your family. Take care, Marina

My Wife and I are home and have wonderful memories

My Wife and I are home and have wonderful memories of our week long vacation in Paris. The studio was perfect size for us,the appliances worked without any problems and the studio was spotlessly clean for our arrival. What made this studio memorable was the location.Montmartre is the BEST place to stay in Paris. The studio was a very close walk to several metro stations.Anyone staying in your rental would have no problem finding any kind of shop, bakery, butcher shop, grocery store, cafe, restaurant, post office or any other shop one might need.It was like living in a tiny, beautiful village. My Wife and I were completly,100% thrilled with everything the rental had to offer. If we are ever blessed enough to see Paris again I would only go if your rental was available. Mark and Cynthia USA

We had wonderful stay in the apartment at Place Emile Goudou. The location could not have been better, with a fantastic patisserie just across the street, and really easy walking distance to shops and sights in Montmartre, and the metro to get to the rest of Paris. The apartment itself was comfortable and airy, with great views out onto the plaza and plenty of space for our toddler to romp about. The owners were really helpful -- one night, there was music playing that kept us awake, and the owners promptly and effectively took care of it and the rest of our stay was quiet and peaceful. We appreciated the flexibility of letting us have some friends from London stay with us one night, and in general found the apartment to be a perfect Parisian home away from home. We would definitely stay there again.

I would be happy to recommend Place Emile Goudeau. While in Paris we took a train out to Versailles. A six or five year old girl was holding on to her dad's arm in one of the palace rooms and said, "I'd like to live here!" I thought that was simply the spirit of the place and feel that same about 16 Emile Goudeau. The apartment is clean, well furnished, all the things That you have in your own homes, where ever that might be. The stairs up and down substitute for a health club, but no matter, the view is worth it. I hope I can come back for a longer stay!

Hi Jean Noel, We just wanted to let you know we had a wonderful time using your apartment Douis in Montmartre. It suited our family of four perfectly. I was able to go to the boulangerie just outside the building for baguettes and croissants as well as the shops on nearby Rue Lepic for cheese and other supplies. We loved Montmartre and the rest of Paris, which was easily accessible from the Abbesses or Pigalle metro stops. We certainly had an opportunity to work off some of the great food we were eating, by walking up to the building and then up the stairs to our apartment. Overall we had a great experience in Paris and we were happy that we found no "surprises" when we got to the apartment. In fact it was bigger than expected. I think your photos make it look a little smaller than it actually is, although it is quite cosy by North American standards. Thanks again. Hopefully we will be able to come back some day.
