When we have a few days available in the next 2 weeks, or receive a late cancellation, we have rather MAKING SOMEBODY HAPPY by renting at a VERY LOW RATE than leaving the apartment unoccupied.
The apartment is located in a charming square, the “Place Emile Goudeau". In 1920-40, our building was the furnished “hotel du Poirier” (Pear tree hotel). Many famous guests lived in (MODIGLIANI, Albert CAMUS, Max JACOB …). PICASSO and other painters artists lived across in the “BATEAU LAVOIR”.
On the left is the Abbesses district, on the right is the Old Montmartre village. All the rooms enjoy a view of the square. The square is planted with big Spanish Oak trees. One also have a view of Paris from the bedroom window. The area is very safe and calm.
We are in the same block as the fruit and vegetable stand featured in the famous movie "Le Destin d’Amélie Poulain.". The Abbesses subway station is 2 mn walk and the Sacre Coeur Church a few hundred yards. Most interesting places in Paris may be reached in 15mn.
The apartment has been entirely renovated in summer 2002. It has a living room and kitchen, two bedrooms, and a bathroom. Located at the third floor, it is very bright and has many windows (six in total). All our guest have enjoyed it very much.
The furniture is typical, vintage, wooden, French furniture. Some of it has value. We trust people to respect it.
We are living on the fourth floor, just above. We are here if you need help, but do not worry, we will not be intrusive.
Just a point, important to us. We decided to rent the apartment on a short-term basis because customers are mainly foreigners. We enjoy meeting foreign people and believe this is a way to meet nice people as well as getting some return on the apartment. We want people to enjoy their stay as much as possible.
Here is one of the last mail we received from one of our guests.

Objet : MilXXX family's Paris Visit
Bonsoir Jean, many thanks for the superb vacation primarily due to your lovely apartment and the spectacular location.
We also left some butter and eggs as we thought they might be of use to someone and it seemed a shame to throw them out.
The family really enjoyed the Montmartre experience and its lively street scene. Again thank you for your wonderful hospitality and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
John MilXXX

Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 18
The apt is on a famous square, formerly called place du Bateau Lavoir, where PICASSO had its studio. We live in Montmartre since 1992 and will never leave the area. Montmartre is really a village. One easily meets people around here. Not like in a big city.
We are living in the apt uptstairs and have bought this other apt with the idea of transforming ours in a duplex once kids will become teenagers.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment
We feel on holidays everyday. Light, charm, nice people around, and No cars, No stress.
Destroyed by a firte in 1970 it was rebuilt by the city and now receives artisits in residence.
One of the 2 last wind mills of Montmartre. Montmartre used to be an industrial area in the 18ies. No less than 35 windmills were built.
Very nice gardens. Do not forget to climb onthe top of the sacre coeur. Incredible sensation to walk on carved stairs of the stone roof.

Thanks for the nice comment. Just mention that we systematically send in advance a comment on taxi drivers together with an easier address for them to find.
