Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay this past weekend. The cabin was decorated beautifully and as always the scenery of the nature and river was amazing. My fiancé and I really enjoy staying at your cabin and just wanted to express our appreciation for what this exquisite location has to offer. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone that wants a romantic getaway or just a weekend away with the family.....Christie and Brenda will not disappoint!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We absolutely loved this cottage. I own a hotel in Georgetown (Super 8) and was looking for a close overnight getaway with my wife and two young kids. Brenda the owner called me right back and was very helpful from the outset. She was a breeze to work with and was as friendly, helpful and hospitable as you could ask for and then some. Being in the hotel business, I can quickly tell if accommodations and service are going to be up to par or not and this cottage far exceeded my expectations. The cottage itself is cozy and clean with a great deck overlooking the KY River Palisades. It is stocked with everything you need for an overnight trip or a week long stay. We grilled sausages for lunch on the electric grill and barbequed chicken and corn on the charcoal grill for dinner. Brenda and her husband Ralph stopped by later in the evening and offered to take my family on a pontoon boat ride down the river. We brought them some food we had made and enjoyed an evening talking with Brenda and Ralph on the boat while the kids did some fishing. The kids loved the hot tub and have been asking if we can go back since we left. What else can I say? The cottage is great, Brenda and Ralph are awesome and the location is perfect! We will definitely be back and I would recommend this cottage to anyone.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

The property was as advertised and more. It has a beautiful view of the river and the bluffs across from it. The owner is very helpful and accommodating. Our group wanted to do some biking but did not have access to bicycles. That didn't stop our helpful owner. She went out and bought some for us and future guests to use. Now that is going above and beyond. The property is also in close proximity to the Bourbon Trail (45 minutes) and Lexington (10-15 minutes). I'd strongly recommend it for young adults, families, or those seeking a romantic getaway.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My friends and I just made our second annual trip to the cottages. Again we were very pleased with how we were treated by Brenda with open arms---she is more than accommodating. It is the perfect getaway for my friends and I because it is so close to the main road, but is ideally nestled just far enough off of the beaten trail. We did a lot of fishing while there and had an extreme amount of success. It was very convenient to launch our boat just 200 yards down the river from the cottage and was able to leave it docked during our entire stay. We found a creek that fed into the river where we were able to take the boat into and caught several nice largemouth and small mouth, several bluegill, and even trout! We also decided to set a trot line at night and were greeted with several very nice blue cats and channel cats on our line-- we even had a few lines broken! We ended the trip with over 25 catfish in our possession--and another great thing about this place is they have a built in holding tank for bait fish and fish that you are keeping. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get away for a bit, even if you don’t enjoy fishing---but for us the fishing aspect sure is a huge plus.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

The cottages are clean and comfortable. All the pleasures of home with a beautiful view and relaxing atmosphere. Second time staying at the "Cottages" . Our first stay was to check out the Kentucky Horseshoeing School for our son. Our second stay was to visit our son enrolled in the Kentucky Horseshoeing School And to celebrate Easter with him and his class mates. Brenda was more than generous and felt like a long lost relative. The Old Southern Hospitality is alive and well at the Kentucky River Cottages. Looking forward to another stay at the Cottages for a more extended visit.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Amidst the chaos of the holiday season, my extended family rented all three cottages and found ourselves in a peaceful escape that was only minutes from shopping and dining. We had a wonderful, bonding experience and were alble to take advantage of the fire pit, the jacuzzi, and the surrounding nature. The cottages are immaculate, tastefully decorated, cozy, and welcoming. Instead of being cramped in a hotel, we were able to relax and unwind in a homelike atmosphere--the cottages had everything we needed and wanted and will always be a part of our fond memories.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What a beautifully clean and well decorated place to have fun and relax! Upon arrival we were greated by Brenda, the owner. She was there working hard to make sure everything was nice, clean, and cozy, and told us we could call her 24/7 if we needed anything at all, but of course we didn't have to call her. The pictures on here dont do this place justice. I picked this place out after reading many reviews for here and other places, and the people that we went with kept telling me what a really good job I did picking out the place, and mt husband said I couldn't have done better. We are already talking about going back for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Now I couldnt really tell you anything about what else is around the area because we only left to get food, everything else we needed was already there. We fished, sat on the decks, built an bon fire, played corn-hole, got in the hot tub and outdoor jacuzzi, cooked out, had a water balloon fight in the big yard, and so much more. The hot tub was amazing, not sure how many it was suppose to accomodate, but we fit 3 adults and 3 children just fine. When we were leaving the children kept thanking us for a wonderful time, and when asked if they would rather go back there or to Myrtle Beach, they said they liked them both the same, and that says a lot for the place because my family could be beach bums. Well I could go on and on about this place, but if you are looking for something in this area you wont be disappointed here! Cant wait to go back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This was the most amazing place to stay for a vacation. First, Brenda (owner) is now part of our family. She is like a mother, always making sure that everything is just perfect, which it was. Christie (manager) walked us through everything when we arrived and it was just like coming into our home, which for the week, it was. The views are incredible, not to be missed. When we say right on the river, thats exactly what we mean. The photos don't to it justice, so you'll have to see for yourselves. Every last detail was taken care of, right down to coffee in the refrigerator! (and we love our coffee). There's plenty of wood for the HUGE fire pit and the hot tub was just right! There's also a gas fireplace and a jetted tub on a private deck off of the bedroom! When we arrived, Brenda and Ralph were working on installing a new washer and dryer downstairs. It was VERY convenient. I just want to give answers to the suggested review questions: 1) The listing is VERY accurate 2) The photos are perfect and show EVERYTHING about the units. Nothing is hidden! 3) The property is IMMACULATE. 4) Brenda and Christie answer all questions very promptly and are easy to reach. 5) I would easily recommend this property AND we already have! 6) There is SO much to do in the area, great arts/crafts, music, horses, distilleries, etc etc ... so much that we are considering moving to the Lexington area. We liked our stay so much that we will be returning sometime in January/February for an exptended 3 week stay!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

If you need a place to escape and leave your worries behind, this is the place. The cottage is perfect in every way. Brenda and Ralph have made this a place to call your own while you are there. No detail has been left undone. I have never felt more at home anywhere. Sitting on the deck early in the morning watching the sun rise and burn the fog off the river, enjoying the view of the Palisades as the water cascades down the rock face, listening to the ducks call to each other as they fish in the river, every kind of bird imaginable flitting through the trees overhead, what more could you ask for! Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful place of tranquility. I can't wait to go back!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Stayed 3 nights in April. The most restful, peaceful place you will ever stay. The cottage is warm and inviting, clean, with ever amenity you could possibly need. The view of the Kentucky River is gorgeous. Set among the trees along the Kentucky River, you can sit on the deck in the morning drink coffee and watch the river flow and leave the rest of the world to take care of itself. Brenda will make sure you have everything you need to make your stay as comfortable as home. She is a gracious and warm host. I will definitely be back soon.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We loved this cottage! Great views of the river, peaceful sounds from the waterfall, yard for the dogs to play in, and wonderful owners. We arrived stressed and tired and left relaxed and refreshed. It was well decorated and outfitted (with every supply you could need). We have stayed in numerous rentals all over the country -- most of which were more expensive -- and this was the best of all of them. Do not hesitate, go get the peace and quiet you deserve! Perfect for a couple, family, or friends wanting to get away.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My then soon-to-be husband and I wanted to spend the 4th of July close to Lexington for family reasons but still be on the water for fishing, kayaking and swimming. This home is right on the river and couldn't have been more ideal! The view really is amazing, taking it all in would automatically relax anyone! We had everything we needed there from spices, dishes and soap to bug candles, music and corn hole! Christie, the property manager, not only greeted us there but offered to have the refrigerator stocked for us prior to our arrival if we liked! It was very private and the view was gorgeous! Unfortunately, we did not get to partake in the hot tub connecting to the master bedroom patio due to remodeling on the first floor that affected our hot water supply but I'm sure thats all been taken care of. The owners and staff take excellent care of this property, treat it like it's their own home and are extremely friendly. I would definetly rent this home again. It surpassed my expectations so much that we invited the rest of my family up last minute for the 4th of July cook-out. The gas grill, huge main deck, river deck and fire pit all lended to a really great time! The only thing you'd have to bring of your own are kayaks/canoes and the stairs down to the water aren't for the older or the faint of heart! Thanks for the memories Christie, we'll be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I had the fortunate experience to discover this home away from home on the Kentucky River. The epitome of southern hospitality was extended to us before and during our stay. The thoughtful personal touches were an unexpected surprise and truly appreciated. We enjoyed the Kentucky Horse Park and other local sights in summertime. I look forward to seeing the views this fall when I return to the river.Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway.

I surprised my husband by taking him here for our anniversary. We stayed on the second floor. It was VERY clean, had everything we needed for the night including free drinks/snacks. The owners are AWESOME. They gave us a bottle of wine and lit the fireplace for us!!! We will definitely stay here again soon!!!!!! It really was the perfect place to stay...very close to Lexington but not in the traffic jams!!!!!! Our stay was in January so it was still cold. Upon arrival, the owners had us a fire in the outdoor firepit going. I have nothing but good things to say about our stay!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
