Suches cabin description
This Cabin in the North Georgia Mountains is Located on a Beautifully Wide, Easily Accessible part of the Toccoa River. The Cabin is Cedar on the outside and Pine on the inside, giving you the True Uniqueness of the"Cabin Experience". The cabin can sleep up to 6 people and the upstairs Loft has its own Private Balcony overlooking the Pond. The Front Porch overlooks the Pasture area and the Back Porch faces the River that is just steps away. Firewood is provided for the fireplace and there is an outdoor Fire Ring for summer Marshmallow roasts.
The Kitchen is well equipped, down to the spices. You do have to bring your own Linens (sheets, pillowcases and towels)and leave the cabin Clean. I am up frequently to see that your accommodations are in perfect condition.
Located on more than 20 acres, the grounds are beautifully maintained with plantings that attract birds and butterflies. We keep cans of feed for the birds, deer, and fish and ask that our guests keep the critters fed. It is not uncommon to wake up and find a pasture full of deer!
You can walk over creeks, pan for gold, and picnic at the river or relax on the swing by the catfish pond under a gazebo, roofed with honeysuckle. Feed the Trout and Catfish and be amazed at their feeding frenzy. The catfish pond is catch and release, the trout pond is feed only. But you can fly fish or fish from the bank of the river for more than 1200'. This is a section of the river that is open year round so you can keep all you catch. There is also a "Beach" area where even small children can splash and play in the river. Bring a float and you can float from the bridge down to the cabin.
While the mountain has its own trails, you can also hike the Appalachian or Benton McKaye trail or walk to close by waterfalls. Within a 30 minute drive you can visit Lake Winfield Scott, Dockery Lake, Lake Nottely in Blairsville, or Lake Blue Ridge.
The pasture areas will contain your pets if they have never been off leash . Bring your Frisbees or tennis balls and rackets. There is a barn within the fenced area and we offer this accommodation for people who want to bring their own horses. There are hours of riding trails right from the cabin.
There is a firm 3 night minimum. $130 for up to 3 persons, $10 for each additional person. $7/pet or horse. Please see my web site for more information and lots of pictures. I do not have a calendar on line, because I like making initial contact with my guests and if I don't have availablity, I can make referalls.

A friend and I just spent a week at this wonderful cabin. The cabin was clean and cozy. The property was just beautiful and so well-maintained. My two dogs loved playing in the river, running like crazy in the fenced pasture, and climbing the trails on the property. It was so quiet and peaceful, no one around. The cabin is perfectly located so you can easily drive to the charming towns of Blue Ridge, Dahlonega, and Helen. It was a perfect week and the owner was so kind and easy to communicate with. Highly recommended!

Our family loved this one of a kind gem!
Our family loved this one of a kind gem!
Our family loved this cabin on the river; it was amazing. We hiked, biked, floated, swam and had a wonderful time. It was fun to feed the catfish & hummingbirds or go to the trout pond. We have stayed at quite a few cabins near the Shallow Ford bridge area and thought this cabin might be a bit far up stream, but it was not. Our family was very excited when we pulled up the driveway to find this gem. Bring your own tubes for floating; this location of the river is very kid friendly and has a private beach. It was safe enough to let our 12 year olds float up and down the property by themselves. For a longer float, if you have one vehicle and a bike, drive to deep hole, leave you car then bike back to the cabin and float with the family back down to deep hole, great float! Avoid the $7 barbeque sandwiches at the grocery store on the way back though; a bit expensive for crock pot pork. This is a great biking area also. You almost have a private road going up to the state park; very few cars. I would recommend this cabin to any family, who wants their own private park like setting, for an awesome outdoor experience that is one of a kind. We did not mind brining our own linens or a few bugs.

Me and my husband, along with our 2 sons (ages 15 and 12) and dog enjoyed a wonderful vacation here, The property is private, yet not so secluded that you feel isolated. There is plenty of nature including trout, chipmonks, squirrels, deer, turtles and lots of birds. The grounds are perfectly manicured, with lovely flower gardens, ponds, swings, a fire pit, etc. The cabin was comfortable, clean and well stocked with everything we could need. We are looking forward to our next visit, as 6 nights just weren't enough!!

Year Purchased: 2000
About the owner: Retired Agricultural teacher, now doing land development in Central GA for the discriminating horse owner. Also developing a small Angus Cattle operation
Why the Owner Chose Suches:
I spent summers at Lake Winfield Scott and fell in love with the area at an early age. While rapidly growing, the nearby towns of Blue Ridge, Blairsville and Dahlonega are not considered "tourist traps" and have wonderfully friendly people
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We bring our horses and pups and it is great to see THEIR enjoyment. They love the trails and the summer coolness, especially. We mainly work to keep the grounds "estate-like" and continue to upgrade the cabin.
