Our family was looking for a cabin that was secluded, but not so far from the city of Chattanooga. We found it here at Laurel Lake. The pictures do not do this cabin or property justice. The property is beautiful, well maintained, the cabin is clean, cozy and has everything you need. The lake is amazing and we loved that it wasn't a "commericalized feel" like other cabin rentals. We felt safe with our kids being on the patio and the lake is far away enough that we didn't have to worry about them going by themselves. We grilled, used the fire pit on the patio for roasting marshmallows and the night sky filled with stars is beautiful. We went to Rock City, Ruby Falls, watched hang gliders, ate at the Canyon Grill (yum) and hiked at Cloudland Canyon State Park. We did it all. We can't say enough wondeful things about the property managers and owners, Sue, Charles and Jimmy and of course Ozzy and Georgia!. They just make you feel like your at home and that you've been their neighbors for years. We loved getting to know them and we all hated to leave. Our family will definately be back for many years to come. Thanks Laurel Lake for wonderful vacation memories!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: It's obvious from their review that this family enjoyed all we have to offer at Laurel Lake Cabin, and we totally enjoyed them! Great kids!!! We do work hard to make our guests feel at home and comfortable in the cabin and on the property. It's a shame the fall colors are running late this year and they missed the peak of colors, but things are really beginning to brighten up now. We're clearing and marking more trails since the weather has cooled off (good fire place weather), and hope this family will return to enjoy our new "kid friendly" trails.

This place has everything for a great weekend getaway. Comfortable beds, soft sheets, lots of towels, working TV with Direct TV satellite, a good variety of board games, fishing on the lake just out the front door, a well stocked kitchen for making meals, and a large outdoor grill. For the guys there is Hang Glides just a few miles down the road and for the girls there is a great spa 10 miles away to relax your worries. It was so peaceful! We will defiantly go back soon!Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We were so fortunate to find this place. Our son and his friend stayed here for 4 months and never did I worry. The owners were so gracious to watch over the boys for us. They enjoyed fishing, hiking, and hunting while staying at the cabin. I highly recommend contacting the owners and for a visit and I hope my family will be able to visit again in the future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: These guys were attending the lineman school in Trenton, and we were all fortunate that they found us! They were great guests, and everyone enjoyed their stay. We would love to have others who are attending the school if our schedule permits. This cabin is truly "home friendly" and lots of folks don't want to leave. You have everything you need to feel at home -- yet on vacation -- plus the amenities mentioned. We hope they will be returning for a vacation soon, and we hope you will consider spending some great time in our cabin by the lake.

This is my family's 3rd time this year to go the the Laural Lake Cabin. We really enjoy the peace and quiet there and the homey feel of the cabin. The cabin is furnished with anything you would need for your stay. Seems like we leave something there every time we go........first time, a corkscrew for guests to use, second time, a Starbucks mug, and this visit, we left some food in the fridge that the next guests can use and another mug and some plastic cups and some Truvia.........it's like a home...........if someone else can use the items.....then that is great, if not, then it will be there the next time we go!Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, adventure seekers.
Owner response: These folks are our friends! We enjoy them enjoying the property about as much as they enjoy it. And their little gifts are great. Being local they're fortunate enough to be able to run up for visits, and yet we have folks who travel 8-10 hours just to get here. It really is worth the trip, and we invite those near and far to visit and take advantage of all the near-by attractions, as well as all the activities they can enjoy right here on the place.

We stayed a little over a week at this cabin and enjoyed it very much. The surrounding property is beautiful and so peaceful. The cabin is cozy and comfortable with many extras and a fully stocked kitchen, the only gadget we needed that we didn't find were measuring spoons. They may have been there somewhere though. We arrived earlier than expected and Charlie and Sue were very accomodating and let us check into the cabin early, for which we are very appreciative. The kids really enjoyed the games in the game cabinet and took advantage of playing games when they could. We would definately stay again. Wish we would have had more time, it is just so lovely. The pictures do not do it justice, the surroundings are beautiful and the rooms in the cabin are bigger than they appear in the pictures. We highly recommend!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: This family was busy!!! Since they were here for a relatively long stay, we stopped by a couple of times to see if they needed anything, and they were always out and about. But we do think they had a great time. There's just so much to do -- both on the property and near-by attractions. We hope they can return.

Thank you so much for having us. It was so wonderful and peaceful. I love the beautiful views and the private lake. I didn't want to leave. I recommend this cabin to all. It was a great place to get away from the city life. It was absolutely quite. On the way back from eating out, we saw a deer in the drive and then when we pulled up by the cabin we saw wild turkeys. That was spectacular! I enjoyed the fact that the cabin was pet friendly. My dog "Lily" enjoyed it too. She enjoyed going for walks without a leash. Also there is so much to do. We went to Rock City, Ruby Falls and the Incline Rail Road. And it was all right there. Not a far drive at all. Rock City is also pet friendly. Me and my husband enjoyed it so much that we will return again some day. Again, thanks for having us and thanks for letting us enjoy your place...It's wonderful!!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: How great that this couple got to see some of our "pets". Also glad they had the opportunity to see some of our local sights. They were fantastic guests, and we look forward to having them back again ASAP. We're glad they had the opportunity to visit our local restaurants. Folks drive up here from Atlanta just to eat at Canyon Grill, and we also have a neat little "country food" restaurant nearby. Thanks for your kind words.

Thank you for the comfortable home, lovely surroundings, and your concern for our comfort. I absolutely would recommend this rental to family and friends. The house was perfect for my husband and I and our two teenagers (plenty of floor space and comfy couch if more space needed). The two bathrooms were good, laundry awesome and the well-stocked kitchen was nice even though we only cooked hotdogs and s'mores over the open pit fire -- a fun feature that we used both nights! The patio area was so pretty and serene both in the morning for our coffee and at night for our fire. The bluff view with the hammock was enjoyed by the men while us girls enjoyed playing with the "rental dog" Georgia that we fell in love with. The walking trails and little creek my daughter and the dog played in were great as well as the lovely little Laurel Lake with its comfy seating and peaceful feel. One more day and night would have been great so we could explore more. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Geneva's and given more time would have gone back again for breakfast (the restaurant is much nicer on the inside than it looks on the outside and the staff was very nice.) Be sure to order the okra, it was so good. Did not get a chance to try Canyon Grill but heard great things about it. After experiencing a fun day at Rock City, the Incline and Ruby Falls we had some great breadsticks, tasty muffins, nice salad and thin crust pizza at Rock City pizza - yum. The only thing I would have done differently was to have a better understanding of the layout of Lookout Mtn before getting there (when getting low on gas we thought we might have to leave the mtn area and head for downtown Chattanooga when a gas station luckily appeared.) There are Lookout Mtn maps at the attractions that are free, be sure to pick one up (the owners said they would try to provide that for the future) having the GPS was nice but being able to see the map was much nicer. (Leaving the area we made the drive to the Unclaimed Baggage store in Scottsboro, AL and had a fun time there as well. Had less fun at the Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel due to the expense and slightly rundown feel -- we had higher expectations. Very nice aquarium downtown and had a good meal and beer sampler at the Big River Grill) Had a wonderful time! Thank you Sue, Charles and Jimmy (bought a cookbook that Jimmy had published as a souvenir, so looking forward to trying those recipes and reading the stories!)Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: This family really made the best of their trip! They were great guests, and we look forward to their return. There are so many fun things to do within a 30 min. drive you can stay busy for days and still not see it all; or you can stay on the property exploring and not see all of it. The trails are great any time of the year, and are mountain bike friendly if you prefer to ride. The golden lab, Georgia (the rental dog :-) loves to play, and will chase a ball or stick as long as someone will throw it. We also have a nice dog pen if you prefer to be alone. We take pride in the cabin and property, and work hard to make each guest feel special, so we really appreciate the kind words from Ohio.

This was our third visit to the cabin and probably the best so far! We went with our two kids and another couple. While all the girls sat around and enjoyed relaxation on the patio, the guys were out catching fish. They caught so many it was unbelievable and had a blast the whole time. Having all of the supplies for a great steak dinner was wonderful. The beds are comfortable and the place was very clean. This cabin is well worth the two hour drive from Birmingham and we plan on going back as soon as possible. It's so affordable you can't turn it down. The owners are very nice and really strive to meet all of your needs! We love you guys......SEE YOU AGAIN SOON!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: WOW!! This family stayed busy having fun the entire time they were with us. Since it was their 3rd visit, they feel like family to us now, and we look forward to their promised return soon. Cute couples, adorable children!
