Gordes farmhouse description
Magnificent Farmhouse with swimming pool, acres of unspoilt farmland with Olive trees and Lavender fields. Incredible views over the Luberon Valley and nearby village of Murs.
The “Mas de Roquejeanne” is a magnificently restored French Farmhouse settled on the hillside in acres of its own unspoilt farm land boasting lavender fields and olive trees in the heart of the Luberon National Park only 7 kms from Gordes and 40 kms from Avignon. The Farmhouse, once a sheep farm, is surrounded by thousands of acres of oak forest with exceptional views over the Luberon Valley. As you drive up the lane, through the typically Provençal garrigue woodland dense with wild oak and olive trees, to the property you will be amazed to discover a lush green lawn below a majestic and ancient oak tree giving shade at the rear of the farmhouse. Fields of lavender in long straight lines proudly await you and the splendor of this incredibly beautiful domain will strike you as you walk down towards the pool deck and front terrace.
Built and restored in local stone on two levels, the Farmhouse is fully furnished and beautifully decorated with pretty Provençal furniture, charming objects and bright paintings. The terrace and courtyard are accessible from the kitchen, dining room, library and lounge and the property is equipped with all modern amenities. As you walk into the entrance hall you immediately feel at home in this charming old farmhouse. The kitchen is a gourmet Chef’s dream, huge central island with zinc work top, stone work tops, battery of utensils for cooking, plenty of high quality plates, glasses, platters and cutlery. 5 gas top stove and a huge stone sink, dishwasher. You also have access to the quaint cool little rear terrace with it’s round stone table and barbecue area with views over the mountains. There is plenty of cupboard space and a pantry to the rear of the kitchen with American fridge, coffee machines, robots and everything you would need for preparing delicious meals. The laundry room is adjacent to the kitchen with washing machine, dryer and ironing facilities.
The long wooden dining table is great for informal lunches or evening meals and an impressive stone fireplace warms the cozy armchairs in the little sitting room next to the dining area, a perfect spot for relaxing and taking an aperitif before dinner. The ceilings are à la française and the stone slab floors sober and natural. The library and second lounge continue on along the ground floor with views over the garden, terrace and pool area. Another stone fireplace awaits you in the far lounge and the library has comfortable sofas to sit in for reading quietly, listening to music or watching TV.
The shady outdoor covered terrace has pretty tables and chairs ideal for bubbly evening meals and summer lunches. You can spend hours sitting in the shade relaxing and talking about the different markets you have visited in the week whilst tasting one of the many delicious rosés that are produced in the Luberon. The flowered courtyard is protected from the Mistral and many herbs grow wildly but orderly between the old stones.
Upstairs are three spacious sunny double bedrooms, each with its own luxurious bathroom (two bathrooms have both bath tubs and separate walk in showers, washbasins). The bedrooms all have spectacular views over the gardens, grounds and valley and are decorated in natural soft colors and fabrics. Beautiful curtains drape the windows and pretty bedspreads lay over the beds, adorable decorative objects adorn the dressing tables and walls. The floors of this superb farmhouse are a mixture of bleached wood and terracotta tiles, the natural stone walls and light colored furniture provide a pure cheerful atmosphere. Three bedrooms have king size double beds and are in the main building. The fourth bedroom has a queen size bed and en suite shower room and is accessible via the courtyard, ideal for young or older couples liking more privacy.
The Farmhouse swimming pool is set in a teak "beach" with olive trees and lush lawns. There are many sun loungers around the pool and parasols. The views from the pool and surrounds are breathtaking and you will think that you are on top of the World up here. If you come when the cherries are ripe you may pick as many as you wish from our cherry trees and also gather bunches of lavender when the summer sun has turned it blue and mauve.
This entire property is completely secluded and private, a haven of peace for those who wish to enjoy a lazy relaxing holiday in the Provence region and not too far from all the amazing perched villages with their lively markets and pretty little streets definitely worth the detour before coming back “home”.

Spectacular views from house, patio and pool
Dear Beverly, The photos don't do the house justice! The views from the house, patio, and pool are spectacular. We especially loved the smell of lavender from the surrounding fields that permeated the air. The house is beautifully decorated, very spacious, and well equipped. We were also delighted to have Cosette cook for us several nights. Her cooking was appreciated by the entire family and it was great to eat in the house enjoying the views and fresh air. I would highly recommend her. We visited many of the towns and markets as recommended but there is so much to do in the region that we'll have to come back again next year to visit more towns and for more of Cosette's cooking. Many thanks to you and Samantha for making a memorable vacation so easy to arrange. Best regards, Deborah

Hi Beverly, Just a note to let you know that we had a wonderful time staying at the house. We all had a really enjoyable stay. The house is very comfortable and very well equipped, and we had a great time making day trips to all the surrounding small towns. Please let Valerie know that we really enjoyed the wonderful meal that she prepared for us. Thanks for all the care you took of us, and we hope to meet up again in the future. Warmest regards, Elaine

Lovely house and holiday
Hello Beverly--hope you are well, I can't express how much we loved the house and everything in it. To say we were sad to leave is an understatement(!). Thanks for your guidance and especially for recommending Cosette, whom we adored. :-). Thanks so much! Jill

Perfect Home in Provence
Perfect Home in Provence
We recently returned from a one-week stay at this gorgeous property. The home is a quintessential Provencal home: it oozes charm and character, yet is also exceptionally comfortable and finished at a very high level. All of the details have been thought of – from heated floors & warming towel racks to the fabulous kitchen, it was a pleasure to spend time at home, especially with the spectacular setting. The location in the lavender fields with its stunning views is unmatched, as is the privacy and seclusion. That said, it is well located to visit the Luberon hill towns as well as an easy trip to Chateauneuf-du-Pape and the lower Rhone valley wine region. Beverly was an absolute pleasure to work with and we hope to return again soon.

Beverly, We really enjoyed our stay at the house in Murs. The property was impeccably maintained and the location was excellent for a relaxing, enjoyable stay in the region. The house was spacious, well cared for and extremely comfortable. The outside areas were very condusive for meals and entertaining. Your help was much appreciated and insightful. We look forward to coming back to the area and the future and would recommend it for others who planned to travel there in the future – thanks again for your help.

Dear Beverly, We had such an amazing stay at Roquejeanne. It is such a beautiful home - even more lovely than the pictures! Everything about this elegantly decorated farmhouse was perfect - the location, the stunning views, the extremely comfortable beds, and of course the gourmet kitchen stocked with absolutely anything you might need. The house is so spacious and comfortable with plenty of room to relax. There were eight of us there for the week, but it never felt crowded. Every morning after a hearty breakfast with fresh breads from the market in Murs we would spend our days touring the beautiful towns of Provence, come home late afternoon for a dip in the pool and enjoy a glass of wine on the patio. Absolute perfection! The kids absolutely adored the house and its surroundings, spending hours in the pool, exploring the grounds and picking fresh ripe cherries off the trees. The market in Gordes is a must, as is dinner a Le Crillon in Murs. Thank you for those recommendations. We can't say enough about this little slice of heaven - in fact we are already making plans to return next year.

Wonderful holiday in a luxurious and homely place
Hi Beverly, Oh, what a wonderful stay we had at Mas de Roquejeanne! Such a lovely, tranquil, luxurious and homey place... we were sad to see our week come to an end. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring Gordes, the papal palace in Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, Bonnieux, and Cassis but the highlight of the day was always returning home to the lavender and the pool and a cool glass of rose. Our dinner in Murs at Le Crillon was glorious (thanks for the recommendation in your notes!) and we lost ourselves in the splendor of the Wednesday market in Gordes. I truly appreciate your help in organizing this special trip for us and also for offering to print up our boarding passes and dropping them off at the house. I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer. Take care, Michelle

Beverly, I am sad - because we are not still there. Life has been pure chaos since we returned. Nothing bad, simply we are all too extended back here in the States. We are however all grateful that we had the opportunity to experience Roquejeanne. Although it may be hard to believe, the house is even more beautiful than online and the renovations that were done were outstanding. The kitchen is a delight to cook in and the meals made by Jeanette were fantastic in their simplicity and execution. The house was well stocked in my opinion. Everything was in excellent order. In summary though I can speak for the eight of us in saying that a week at Roquejeanne was a fantastic and fortuante experience and if there are ever any people who may be interested in renting but have questions please feel free to give them my email. Thank you for all of your patience and help, it certainly made the stay easier as well. You do a fantastic job with your clients and if we are able to make it back to Provence or any of our friends are looking at a similar vacation I will certainly pass on your information as the first place they should look. We have just returned (albeit reluctantly) from this exquisite and immaculate home which is truly perfect in every way ... location, furnishings, appointments, and amenities! The house provides a gracious and relaxing base from which to tour the many wonderful villages of the Luberon. The kitchen is of unparalleled perfection, the bedrooms and bathrooms incredibly spacious (with excellent beds and linens). The living areas, both indoors and out, were appointed elegantly and comfortably. From the beginning of the booking through our departure -- the experience was wonderful. Beverly was very helpful with making restaurant reservations and providing tips about the local markets and sights. I will highly recommend this property to those I know traveling to this very special part of the Luberon and hopefully will return next year for another stay at the 'Mas'.

We just returned from this house. I cannot get it out of my mind. I found my paradise there. The kitchen and the pantry are loaded with amenities, every kind of dish, pot, pan , glasses etc. The stove, is incredible, the sink, the island. If you love kitchens and love to go to the markets and prepare what you have purchased, you will love this house. The bedrooms are large and the bathrooms larger. The pool is magnificient as well as the yard and gardens. There are two places to eat outside, there is a BBQ, we BBQ'd a lot. Two fireplaces a library and living room. Plus a gigantic laundry room with a full size washer and dryer and a slop sink. We had a ball with this house and I am definatly returning next season.
