Once again Jeff and Janet provided a clean, comfortable apartment for our colorado visit! We were out early each morning to see the elk just outside the property, and the aspen leaves changing colors were picture worthy. The whimsical statues scattered around the grounds provided our grandson great delight! New this year was a chance to see a chef at work creating our own sushi to try, very tasty, in the owners kitchen, such a delight! We highly recommend this place to anyone, and plan to return next year, the weather is awesome in September!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children.

Centrally located, only 15 minutes out of Fairplay, with easy access to Como, Breckenridge, Leadville, Buena Vista, and Salida. Quiet, private, spacious, clean, plenty of clean linens, and many other amenities, this apartment was great!. We were greeted with a plate of mini home-made cinnamon rolls, and gracious hosts/owners. And, if you are interested in a gourmet meal on the patio, the option is available. Between marveling at the surrounding landscape and enjoying the wildlife that visits the property, your stay will be truly invigorating and satisfying. We had a great stay, and highly recommend this property!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

My wife and I were in the Park to do field work and laboratory analysis for a month. We looked for accommodations near our work, this fit the bill nicely. We were pleased with the cleanliness of the apartment and the furnishings. The hosts Janet and Jeff were gracious but gave us plenty of room. At the same time they were available when we needed some help. The location of the property, at the base of the mountains was wonderful, we saw much wildlife including three kit foxes emerging from their den - very "Disneylike." We would certainly recommend this property to friends and family. As a matter of fact if we continue our research next year we will plan on staying there. The only negative that we encountered was no washing machine and dryer - since we were staying a prolonged period it did come into play. For others staying shorter period it would have no real effect. We had a wonderful stay. Thanks Janet and Jeff. Jeff and Janet are the most friendly, helpful, down to earth people I've ever had the fortune in meeting. We had so much fun and to top it off Janet's mother Joan had made the trip from Florida for the week. The guest quarters were excellent with all amenities provided as described. All I needed were my clothes and food for the week. Whether it's a trip to the Buena Vista area or up to Breckenridge, the location is just far enough from the crowds but close enough to be very convienient. I highly recommend a vacation at Jeff and Janet's for anyone who needs to relax and take in the fresh mountain air along with the fantastic scenery.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing.

We had an excellent time staying at this property. Janet and Jeff were the most accomodating of hosts that you could hope for, answering all questions and helping us out with items that we forgot. The scenery is beautiful and peaceful, the apartment is well stocked for a weekend getaway and is clean and well maintained. They are also very pet friendly! Ask them about their customized meal plans! I would strongly recommend this property. We'll definitely be back!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

My husband and I stayed at this most charming guest house this past weekend. Wow!!! The pictures really do not do this location justice. It was incredible. Waiting or us were the most delicious plate of home-made cookies when we arrived. Jeff and Janet are the ultimate hosts and this place is impeccably designed and furnished. We were able to do some cross-country skiing and hiking just around the bend. This is the ultimate getaway to de-stress. We have been to many cabins in the Colorado high country, and this ranks among the top. Highly, highly recommended!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, sightseeing.

Our Hosts were so genuine, respectable, accomidating. We got a flat on the way in & they fixed our tire early the next AM for us! Extremely nice. We were VERY comfortable and had FANTASTIC views of the mountains. We had more than enough room and everything in the apt. was very comfortable. We didn't need a thing. Everything we needed + was there. It is a great property with some wildlife. It was very private and comfortable. The town of Fairplay is very quaint, also known as the famous "South Park". It is not very big, but has everything you could possibly need, also some great eat spots and places to grab coffee. Also...Breckenridge is not that far of a drive away and you are there before you know it, due to all the scenery. There were a few days we just stayed in and relaxed, watched the mountains, wildlife... All in all... It was clean, exceeded our expectations, owners were VERY helpful and we plan on renting again. We stayed this past Mar2011.... Looking forward to going then again. A GREAT PLACE TO GO! -The Texans;)Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

Wonderful area, the apartment is absolutely perfect. Jeff and Janet are there if you need them and quite helpful. All of the extra touches are there. Day trips are available to many areas. Enjoyed the Java Moose for coffee! I could actually enjoy just sitting outside, reading and hiking and taking pictures. All the creature comforts of home are there. My husband and I stayed here in August, 2011. To say that we were made welcome is an understatement. The owners made a special effort to help us feel comfortable and happy in their guesthouse. The listing description and photos are very accurate. The property was very, very clean and well-maintained, and pretty and well-decorated. The owners were very helpful and considerate. Very friendly people. We have recommended it to our family and friends as a great place to stay. You are a 30-40 minute drive from Breckenridge, with all of its shops and entertainment and ski area. You are a 5 minute drive from Pike National Forest, which has beautiful scenery, trails and is where the Weston Pass is located. This is a historical route that takes you across the mountains. There are places to fish and picnic across this rugged road. You really feel like you're getting the Colorado experience. The town of Fairplay has a cute downtown area, with historic buildings. The views from the guesthouse are awesome. We really loved it and plan to return.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2006
About the owner: Janet and I have always loved the mountains. This picture is our first 14-er we hiked Mt Sherman. We are from Florida originally, 5ft above sea level. Each year we would vacation out West. We found our piece of heaven in Fairplay Colorado and built our home in 2006. Our dogs adapted to the elavation better then we did. They love the outdoors and don't mind sharing it with other 4 legged friends.
Why the Owner Chose Fairplay:
The mountain views are breath taking, especially at 10,200 elv. Beautiful views of Buffalo Peaks, Weston Pass Mountain Range and Pikes Peak. This is Mother Nature at her finest. We always feel like we are on vacation.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
The wildlife that we see almost everyday is unbelievable. Moose, Bear, Coyotes, Foxes, Deer, Porcupines, Badgers and Elk. The Hummingbirds in the early spring through early fall. Amazing how such little creatures can migrate the distance they do and always seem to have so much energy. We enjoy them every year.
