This was our 2nd time to stay at Stoneybrook over Easter weekend. Our favorite part is the outdoor pavilion and fireplace because we could host family gatherings. We liked the location near Mt. Pisgah.

Perfect for a mountain getaway with kids

This home is the PERFECT place to vacation with young children (or without them!). We have 4 kids between the ages of 5-11 and they did not want to leave the house! We played baseball, badminton, and volleyball in the huge backyard. But most of all my kids loved the running stream in the back yard. They spent hours climbing through the stream and swimming in the water. The home itself was spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained. We ate dinner out on the porch every night with a roaring fire going. Thank you so much Elmer and Ruby for an unforgettable vacation. We will definitely be back.

I had made a reservation for another home, but there was a mix up and I ended up losing it. I called a bunch of places the night I arrived in Asheville and they were all booked! Luckily, I called the owner of the Four Seasons Home and it was available so I booked it right there, the owner was very helpful and understanding even though it was late at night. My friends and I enjoyed everything this home has to offer. It's very peaceful, beautiful, and was the perfect place for my friends and I to relax in the mountains away from what we're used to...the city. :)

Enchanting cottage and setting

This charming, impeccably clean, spacious and well appointed cottage exceeded our expectations. The grounds are also lovely with many flower beds; we played croquet and badmitten, and enjoyed walking out the back door and into the forest. nice to leave the car at home and walk to several different trails. The owners are delightful and seemed to anticipate our needs. see if they'll share their home grown tomatoes with you!

Our first trip to western North Carolina. What a transition, to come from a climate where the native foliage is mostly barren and dry to a climate where everything is green and lush everywhere. And Stoneybrook is a storybook location to enjoy the amenities the Asheville area has to offer. We stayed here with our nephew and his family while attending a family wedding at Claxton Farm (also a beautiful location). The pleasant surprise at Stoneybrook was how completely and thoughtfully prepared the cottage. We found everything possibly needed for our stay, including a discount card to a local supermarket!!! The owners, Elmer and Ruby Watts, are truely delightful folks who are anxious to make your stay a completely enjoyable event. They paid us a visit on our last night here and we enjoyed their company at our post-wedding family BBQ. I truely look forward to coming here again! Now if I can only find an excuse!!!

Wonderful cabin

Loved this place! Everything was clean, it was extremely well stocked and comfortable. Location was peaceful - we loved sitting outside and listening to the creek, as well as enjoying the outdoor fireplace. Have stayed in other cabins near Asheville before, but this is the one we'll be coming back to.

This was by far one of the best rental properties we've ever stayed in and each detail was perfect. From the large well- equiped kitchen to the comfortable bedrooms, comfy living areas, outdoor pavillion, and the large back yard, every single piece of this property was well worth every penny and minute spent there. MY OWN BACKYARD

Just returned from a 4 day stay at Stoneybrook and am already homesick to go back. This place is wonderful and one could not ask for anything more. Just like the ad; clean, spacious, well equipped and just like being at home. The outside fireplace was wonderful as well as the “inside one”. Very nice and cozy. Loved the "hike" on the snow covered road up towards the Parkway. Well worth the 25 minute drive from Asheville; why drive for days when you have Stoneybrook in your own backyard. I LOVED IT!!

Winter Wonderland

A couple of us stayed in the rental for 4 nights through Christmas. What a wonderful experience!Everything was exactly as described and a person couldn't ask for more. The home was decked out in Christmas themes which included a Christmas tree, and it was such a lovely touch and really brought the holiday home. The home is well taken care of and very clean and comfortable. We got lots of snow on Christmas day and even though we didn't get to use them because the snow was not packed enough, they have sleds to be used! This home really is such a great place to stay if you want to get away, and is big enough to accomodate several people. We will definitely be looking to stay again. Thanks Elmer and Ruby for opening up this home to us, and giving us a great vacation experience.

We stayed in Four Seasons for the first time this fall 2010. The home is spacious enough for 5 of us and perfectly clean. Its a wonderful place to get away from the cell phones but still have all the comforts of home. We enjoyed the creeks, mountains and the outdoor pavillion too. We will be back. Fireside Fun

We just returned from the Asheville area. We stayed at the Four Seasons Home for 3 nights and it was absolutely delightful. The house was everything it was described to be in the listing. It was very clean, bright and had everything you would need to be very comfortable away from your home. Our favorite part of the house was the outdoor patio fireplace feature. I think we spent the majority of our time there. The evenings were chilly and we had so much fun sitting by he fires laughing and enjoying our friends. I would recommend this property to everyone and would definitely stay here again. Very easy to find too!

charming country home

we were 3 couples who shared the cabin for 4 nights. it was wonderful !!!!! it is not just a cabin but a beautifully loved, stocked and cared for property. everything was in perfect order with plenty of room. the outdoor room with the stone fireplace and comfortable furniture was our favorite place. we also enjoyed walking in the woods behind the house. 15 min to ashville and 15 min to hendersonville. a perfect location. but best of all was Elmer, and Ruby. Considerate , helpful and generous. a wonderful get-a-way for couples, families or friends.

This lovely home was perfectly located for our "girlfriends long weekend get together". It was convenient to the interstate, Biltmore House, downtown Asheville, Blue Ridge Parkway, and great hiking trails. With so much to see and do in such a short time, the convienient location was a real plus. The home was immaculately clean and very comfortable. The outdoor pavillion was a great place to enjoy our coffee and have our morning chats each day. The landscaping was beautiful and we enjoyed the abundance of flowers and birds.When returning to Asheville, I will definitely stay at Stoneybrook.

Wonderful Place to Stay

We went to this area for my daughter's graduation from Montreat College and did not want to stay in a hotel. We decided Stoneybrook would be convenient to Black Mountain as well as Asheville. We have rented mountain cottages in North Carolina for more than 10 years and sometimes there are surprises and not all of them are pleasant. Stoneybrook was better than described. It was roomy, very clean, had great grounds, plenty of parking, woods for walking, and a great pavillion. The pavillion, with its comfortable furniture, gas grill, beautiful hanging baskets, and big fireplace was our favorite. We started our day under the pavillion with our coffee, listening to the streams and the birds and finished our day sitting by the fire and playing cards. We stayed 6 nights in this lovely home. My daugter received her masters and also received an engagement ring during our stay. We had a very memorable stay and could not have asked for a better place for a vacation. We would highly recommend Stoneybrook. Thank you Elmer and Ruby for sharing the home, Chip, Mavis, Jen, and Chris.

Wonderful Weekend Getaway

My family and I are from Charleston, SC where we rarely see snow. My husband and I wanted to take our 3 children for a weekend in the snow. Mr, Elmer was so kind to rent us his lovely cottage at the last minute. We has the most wonderful time at Stoneybrook. It was exceptionally clean and felt just like home. The road across the street was deserted so we spent most of our time sledding down the driveway. The outdoor pavillion and fireplace was peaceful and beautiful. Mr, Elmer had the wood stacked in the fireplace when we arrived. All we had to do was light the match. We had the most wonderful weekend. Thanks, Mrs. Ruby and Mr. Elmer. We will return.

We stayed at Stoneybrook for 3 nights recently and found it to be exactly as advertised on the website. It was immaculately clean when we arrived and everything in the house was in great shape. The house itself is just beautiful, but our (5 ladies) favorite part was the outdoor patio with fireplace. We all want one of those at our own homes! Thank you so much for opening this home up to us. We wanted to leave a comment regarding our wonderful experience with the owners of this lovely property, Ruby and Elmer. My husband and I live in Scotland. We reserved another VRBO property in Chimney Rock for three weeks Sept/Oct. We reserved it 9 months in advance. When we arrived, the other property was in terrible shape. It was such disapointment after having traveled 4500 miles. We had to stay in a hotel for the duration of our stay. While we were still in the Asheville area, we logged onto this VRBO site, as it was one we had considered 9 months prior, but couldn’t reserve as the dates were already taken. We contacted the owners through the site, and then called them to inquire about reserving for next fall. Well, the owners could not have been nicer! They told us we could drive by the property, but unfortunately could not see the inside as it was booked solid. We drove by and were overjoyed at the beauty of the home and grounds. It truly is lovely. We booked right away for next year. When we arrived back home after our trip, we learned of an upcoming family event and had to cancel our plans. Ruby and Elmer refunded our deposit right away, wishing our family well. They were so very understanding and kind to us. What a beautiful home and property. Stoneybrook has everything you could want, including a gorgous pavillion with a fireplace that we spent a lot of time at! We highly recommend this cottage! It was very clean and everything that you could want was provided. The listing description is very accurate. We brought our parents along on this vacation and the 3 of them really enjoyed the cottage also. The pavilion was awesome! We grilled supper on the gas grill, ate 'al fresco', lit the stone fireplace, and enjoyed sitting around the fire. We truly hated to leave, but hope to return again.

My husband and I stayed at Stoneybrook the first week in August. We took are motorcycle to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway. the house is not far from the entrance. It is a really nice bike ride up the mountain just getting there. The house is really nice,it is immaculate and very well stocked. a perfect place to stay and enjoy. The outside pavillion was super!.We enjoyed it everyday. We are going back in November with are friends, to visit the Biltmore Estates for Christmas lights. also we booked it for next year. We were celebrating my parents 50th anniversary in Asheville and this was a great place for family to get together and spend some quality time. Everything was even better than described. Wow! Our group of Converse College classmates gets together for our own little reunion twice annually, and this was the first time we rented a house for our gathering. How spoiled we all are now! Terrific food (Early Girl Eatery was superb) and a divine spa visit (cannot recommend Spa Theologie highly enough) in town with this terrific retreat to return to at the end of our days made for one great reunion. This is a property which is obviously treasured: it is beautifully updated, immaculately clean and wonderfully landscaped. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer and visit more. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Watts for so generously sharing this gem with us.

Stoneybrook was a magical secluded haven of rest for our family. The homeowners have not only met, but exceeded every need. The spacious floor plan was great for our group of 8 and so child friendly. The outdoor pavillion was the perfect place to cozy up to the roaring fire while listening to the rushing stream waters just steps away. What a slice of heaven! We really enjoyed our visit here at Stoneybrook. The house was beautiful, just like the pictures! Oh my goodness, the beds were so comfortable after a long day out site seeing. WE LOVED THIS HOME!! The home is so clean and the owner's leave nothing to chance. Plenty of towels and wash clothes. Books, movies, magazines....the list goes on and on. We visited the Biltmore Estate during our visit. It was only about a 20 minute drive from the rental house. Thank you, thank you for your attention to detail. We will definetly be coming back!! Oh, and the covered porch area with the fireplace was AWESOME!! We didn't have a chance to use it. But, we would've only had to strike a match. The fireplace was ready with wood waiting.

What an exceptional property! My husband and I have stayed in several VRBO homes across the country, and Stoney Brook far exceeds all the others. For one thing, this house just might be the cleanest one on the planet!! Additionally, the decor is perfect for a mountain retreat, the fully equipped kitchen is terrific, the outdoor pavillion is a wonderful extra, and the quiet, relaxing mountain setting is simply sublime. I had to work several days during my stay there, and it was a pleasure to get back to the peace and quiet of Stoney Brook at the end of those long days! What a marvelous place to stay!!! We have stayed in several different vrbo homes, and this one by far exceeded them all. It is so clean and beautifully decorated. My family stayed at Stoneybrook for the first time in 2004. We fell in love with the entire space - inside and outside! We love it so much we go one or two times per year. This is our "home away from home!" The owners, Elmer and Ruby, are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. The house is immaculate and very clean. The appliances and utensils are an added benefit - we don't have to bring anything but food! We spend a lot of time outside under the pavilion - grilling, making smores, reading, listening to music, watching wildlife, etc. I highly recommend Stoneybrook to anyone who is ready for some R&R!

What a fabulous place to stay! We couldn't have imagined anything better; the house completely exceeded all our expectations. We even saw a black bear crossing the street on our first day! We didn't even have to unpack everything we took, as everything we needed was already there. The entire house was spotless and beautiful! Absolutely peaceful and beautiful. Location is a little far out of town, but the drive is so fabulous you won't mind. Perfectly provisioned with a great kitchen, an outdoor BBQ area (quite a lovely surprise), and hiking trails. The views and the climate are perfect. Stay here, you will not regret it. Very Clean!!!!!

What a delightful spot. I can't remember when I have enjoyed such a restful vacation. Stoneybrooke Cottage is beautiful and just down the mountain from the Blue Ridge Parkway. What a breathtaking spot! The cottage is very homey and well-equipped. We enjoyed the outdoor pavilion. Cooking and dining outside was a pleasure. Thank you. My family and I really enjoyed it! May 4-6, 2007. We traveled not too far, but had parents with us. We wanted a place that would be comfortable for them and yet cozy for my daughter and her boyfriend's visits. This was her graduation weekend from WCU as well as she was honored with an Art showing at the Wentz Gallery in Asheville. This place was comfortable and cozy and yet so very decorated! The house, the yards, the pavilion was all immaculate! We all enjoyed a wonderful dinner together Saturday night and then shared a nice roaring fire afterwards. My daughter and her boyfriend announced their engagement to us this weekend, so we were all glowing and enjoying the comforts of Stoneybrook! So much more nicer than a hotel room!!! We plan to visit again and hope to go on the trails next time! My son loved the rabbits! Thanks for having a place that so many memories can be shared and enjoyed! If you seek solitude and serenity, Stoneybrook Cottage is where you want to stay while visiting Asheville. My husband and I stayed the week of March 24,2007 and wish we could have stayed longer. The cottage is spotless and has everything you need for a great vacation.Light up the grill for dinner and start a fire in the outdoor pavilion fireplace and I just know you are not going to want to leave. Many thanks to Elmer and Ruby for opening up a "home away from home"!

My family stayed at Stoneybrook this past weekend (March 07) and had a wonderful time. The cottage is immaculate and well stocked. The pavillion was such a bonus - wonderful fireplace, grill, and furniture - quite relaxing! We had 6 adults and a 2-yr old and had plenty of room. Will definitely return!

We have stayed in this lovely home yearly and sometimes twice yearly since 2003. We have found it to be a most restful place. The owners provide everything that you would need for a comfortable R&R. We would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants away from the rat race and into the peace and quiet of nature.

We found this wonderful cottage to be the most comfortable and serene place to vacation. The cottage is well equipped with everything you could think of,the pavillion is so inviting and makes for a very cozy evening and mealtimes. This is one of the most inviting places I have ever rented and the area is simply gorgeous along with the hospitality of two wonderful people who anticipated the needs of almost anyone staying here. I highly recommend this place if you love nature and peace.

We have found a place that we will return to time and time again. First of all we love the Asheville area and Stonybrook is the perfect place from which to enjoy the area. That is, if you can manage to pull yourself away from the outdoor combo living/dining room area with a beautiful stone fireplace, and a great yard, with apple trees and lots of flowers. We were amazed with the owner's attention to detail. From pulling up in the yard late at night and immediately seeing everything lit up by the motion detector lights to the stroll down the trails and seeing plant identification tags. The rocking chairs even have blankets draped over the top for those chilly mountain evenings. The house is well equipped and very clean. Even the ten minute drive to the parkway is scenic. Make a thorough grocery list, it’s just far enough out that you don’t want to be running back and forth, though there is a small country store about 3 miles away. Enjoy!
