Our property is conveniently located near the Snow Summit area on the mountain side of the boulevard where there is a natural slope to the mountain, in proximity to beautiful trails for hiking, biking, snow shoeing, and wilderness exploration. The roads are maintained in winter so you will not have difficulty accessing it. Our property is surrounded by pines and offers beautiful views of nature.
It is propped up above the road level for added privacy and views, with interesting mixtures of pine, oak, manzanita, lilac, and other native vegetation. Our kids love the interesting mounds and gentle slopes for sledding, snow ball fun, and nature exploring. The lighting is perfect, with many windows capturing the lovely mountain light cascading through the trees.
We completely remodeled the property and it resembles a cozy Colorado mountain cabin inside, with maple wood floors and flagstone stacked fireplaces. The kitchen is amazing and joins several family spaces. The open layout is what we enjoy so much with the den behind the kitchen and the living room and dining area adjoining, all visible from the kitchen. The layout is easy and single level with three rooms off the living room down a convenient hall with a common full bathroom and a private full bathroom off the master.
We use our cabin a lot for our own family and have taken great care to preserve it for our own enjoyment as well as our guests. All the windows are new, double paned, and insulate well, with wood trim that frame in the great outdoors at every turn. You will instantly relax upon walking into this great space and enjoy the many conveniences of its location to restaurants, the Village, the lake, and the ski areas. Come and enjoy our home away from home, as yours as well.

Nice cabin, easy to get to and from slopes using side streets. We were even able to do some sledding on the street which was nice instead of having to have to drive somewhere. Everything is clean, nice and well kept. There was no internet so we had to adjust a little bit to keep the kids entertained but it was nice to not have distracting technology around :) Look forward to staying here again!!Recommended for: Families with young children.

About the owner: I grew up in the mountains in Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico, so it was important to have an escape from Los Angeles for me and for my family. I wanted my kids to appreciate the great outdoors, learn to ski, and to know what it is like to live in a small town environment as an alternative to the big city. We did not buy the property with the intent to rent it, but rather to use it as much as possible, which we do, so we do not look at this as an income property, but more as a quality of life enhancer that we are happy to share with other interested families to help offset our overall cost of ownership.
Why the Owner Chose Other Big Bear Lake Properties:
The location is great! Near everything, yet private in an area where the surrounding homes are attractive, with plenty of trees and views. The house is perched up which gives it a treehouse like feel inside, but it is not on a steep slope which is common in Big Bear. The kids find the land very interesting with many bushes to play hide and seek and gentle slopes for sledding in winter. I think it is great that you can walk up the street to the many mountain fire trails that are perfect for biking and nature walking. In the summer, we can walk to the village which is about a mile and a half away which is fun for movies, site seeing, and eating out. Snow Summit is only a few blocks away making access to the mountain for skiing very easy - my wife can drop us off and pick us up in just a few minutes without any hazardous driving. There are many properties in big bear that are not on maintained roads or are difficult to get to. Fortunately our property is on a well maintained street and does not have a steep or difficult entry - this is very important in the winter. Many renters do not realize how important this is. So it has the right balance of convenience, access, privacy, and beauty.
