Absolutely perfect vacation! The cabin, property, and hospitality were great. Everything about the entire experience exceeded my expectations. My wife and I wanted a beautiful, mountain wedding venue and five ridge bluff was just that. The property made for a great ceremony and amazing pictures. I highly recommend you experience five ridge bluff.

My birthday present this year was a weekend away with my two young children (ages 5 and 3), my mother and my husband. What a FANTASTIC weekend it turned out to be. We were blessed with perfect weather for enjoying every part of this beautiful property. Hiking, fishing, target shooting, swimming in a sparkling and CLEAN river, and cooking food over an open fire, all with the comforts of a well appointed (and well thought-out) cabin with a breathtaking view to wake up to every morning. Even the northwesterly position of the back porch is perfect for watching the sunset in the evenings, as the sun casts shadows over the lush green mountains without shining directly into your eyes. And we couldn't keep the kids out of the hot tub! Buster and Dixie, the owner's beloved pets, kept watch over the cabin at night and were there to greet us in the morning. Saw two deer out of the kitchen window, only 10-12 feet from the house on our first morning there! This cabin was conveniently located (not far off of Hwy 515), while somehow still feeling "remote." Reasonably priced for a family weekend, and the owners are refreshingly welcoming. Note that because of the mountainous terrain some of the hiking is challenging, and might be tough for younger children (like my 3-yr-old) and seniors. Nevertheless, we will definitely recommend this property to friends!

We can't say enough about this wonderful place. This year marked our second (hopefully annual!) visit to Five Ridge Bluff. We loved it so much the first time that we couldn't wait to get back this year. We would have stayed longer if not for the weekend booking right after ours, but we were happy to take what we could get! It was the perfect place for our family of six to unwind, reconnect, and enjoy nature. Mike and Sharon have a rare gift of true hospitality; they have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible, right down to providing kid-friendly soaps for our little ones. The hiking trails and river provide plenty of activity without ever having to leave the property. Dixie and Buster are the icing on the cake. We lost our sweet lab this spring, and it hit our youngest boy so hard...Buster was the perfect balm for his broken heart. There are no words to describe how wonderful it was to see the joy on Jack's face as they ran and played. Thank you, Mike and Sharon, for the opportunity to share a little bit of your paradise!

I just spent a week at the cabin with my boyfriend and another couple. It is an incredibly beautiful setting--the cabin itself is spotless, comfy and just lovely. The surrounding view, nature trail and river a quite a marvel. The setting is so nicely secluded that you really feel that you've gotten to have a bit of paradise all to yourselves. The couple who own the property couldn't be nicer or more gracious. It's a heavenly place that is also close to a ton of attractions, such as white water rafting, shopping, horseback riding and restaurants. This cabin and it's surrounding beauty really provide for a great vacation at a really affordable price. It was hard to leave it all behind and venture back to Chicago! I would recommend this getaway most highly to anyone looking for relaxation and fun in a majestic setting that is truly unspoiled--you can't beat this!!!

We enjoyed the surrounding property so much with beautiful walks along the stream and spots to stop and sit or picnic and enjoy the beauty. The dogwoods were in bloom and so pretty. The house was very comfortable and clean. The drive into the property is fun too - going up the small mountain to where the cabin sits on top.

There are no words to adequately describe Five Ridge Bluff cabin. If you are looking for complete privacy and tranquility this is the cabin for you. The trail to the river is wonderful, and the private walk along the private stretch of Ellijay River is nothing short of magnificent. Mike and Sharon are gracious hosts and extremely respectful of your privacy. Their dogs, Dixie and Buster, make the cabin even more quaint if possible. Whether you are looking for a place to stay and relax in a hot tub on your private deck overlooking the five ridges or looking to catch some of the most beautiful trout in Georgia, this is the place for you. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Thank you Mike and Sharon for everything. I guarantee you will see us again! Pam & David

Our stay here was very peaceful and relaxing. The cabin had everything you need. We enjoyed hiking around the trail and loved the bridge that went to the island in the middle of the Ellijay River. The dogs were so much fun to hang out with. I have never seen a dog that goes fishing for big river rocks! Just a quick trip from Atlanta.. this would be a great place to visit in the summer when you can get in the river as well. Thanks again for everything Mike & Sharon.

My wife and I rented Mike and Sharon's cabin for a week this past Jan. After the week had past, I was happy we got 8 inches of snow and had to stay a few extra days to let the roads thaw out. I was on leave from Iraq and wanted to find a secluded place to spend some much needed alone time with my wife. This place was perfect, 120 acres to yourself !! The view is amazing, and everything you could possibly need is there. I was amazed by the amount of work that Mike and Sharon have out into making this such a special place. I could not imagine how many hundreds of hours each year are spent on maintaining the nature trails alone. If you need anything Mike is there, but if you don't you would never know they were anywhere close. The dogs were an added bonus, they became like part of the family. We stayed 10 days, and other than a few store runs, never left the property. We are definately planning on more trips here for many years to come. I can't wait to go back when it is warm enough to take full advantage of the river. Thanks again Mike and Sharon for the perfect vacation spot.

We pulled in the 27th of December and didn't move our car until we left on the 30th. We ate, slept, hiked and played games in this delightful cabin with beautiful surroundings. Enjoyed the hot tub, the dogs, the snow. Everything was perfect for a time of relaxing and family togetherness.

Our families were coming from Texas & North Carolina. I spoke to Mike & Sharon through email & read the previous reviews & searched more homes within a few hours from Five Ridge Bluff. Since we were taking a long vacation, we wanted something very nice but also affordable. This home had it all & it was an amazing cost. We arrived late one night & only seeing with our car lights, the house was cute outside. Mike came to welcome us & immediately felt like he was family. We shared some Texas sausage sticks w him & just chatted. We checked everything out (board games, cards, soaps, shampoos, dish soap, laundry soap, amazing walking sticks, room comfortably for the 7 of us) & unloaded. Ahh.. finally there. We made a pot of coffee & relaxed on the amazing porch. Went to bed & woke to the most amazing view. Since the cabin is secluded, we ran around the yard & down to the river and trail in our pajamas & shoes like little kids. No one would know! During our week there, we did everything. My husband, father in law & 2 boys went to the shooting area & had a blast. We all went fishing several times while wishing it were warmer so that we could play in the river. It's absolutely beautiful. The different trees, rocks, trails, etc. You could spend forever just exploring. Most nights, we made a fire with the available fire wood. Don't forget stuff for smores! One day we went to old town Ellijay. Super cute town but not a whole lot there. There's a great teeny tiny coffee/tea store that you should check out. Another day, we went to old town Blue Ridge. Ahh.. I could live at Five Ridge Bluff & shop in down town Blue Ridge all day. Shops & cute restaurants galore! It was great knowing that we were going back 'home' to our welcoming cabin. Our children are all under the age of 15 & one thing they really wanted was to play in the snow. Well, we didn't get it all week until the last day, Christmas day, when we were leaving. We woke to a beautiful white blanket of snow & all of us, big & small ran out & threw snowballs, built a small snowman & did snow angels. Unfortunately, we had to rush out because it was coming down quickly. Our car/truck aren't made for snow so our savior Mike & his tractor saved us on Christmas day. He didn't have to spend several hours helping us to leave but he did. If Mike & Sharon were to ever rename the place, I'd recommend, "A Little Piece of Heaven" because to us, it truly was! I would recommend it to anyone!

My first thoughts are where to start, there is so much to say and so little space. Some of us arrived from NC and some from TX, we meet at the bottom of the driveway and drove up to a most beautiful home, and with a very warm feeling. We were meeting for the Chritmas holidays and wanted to make sure our vacation was one of beauty, comfort and delight. It most surely was all of that and more. Upon entering the home, you felt as if it called you in, you knew you were welcome. Mike then came over to meet us and show us the home, he is very nice and with each room he showed us they seemed to get better and better. When they mentioned that they pride themselves on cleanliness they certainly were not kidding. We have traveled the world so we have been in many hotels and even though it is not a hotel it is very clean inside and out. We arrived late in the evening so we did not actually see the outside until the next day. Our initial plan was to take it easy and maybe put off a trail hike for a day or two but once we started walking we found that we could not stop, we just had to see if the next area was any better then the one before, and it was. The trails, the rest areas, the river, all of it amazing. We ventured into town on occassion and found that Ellijay and Blue Ridge are great to visit, we were perfectly happy though with staying at the home, enjoying the fire pit and the hot tub and the trails, no real need to venture away. The men enjoyed the shooting area and the rest enjoyed rocking on the back porch. On our last day there the grandchildren got there wish, they wanted it to snow on christmas day and snow it did, Mike called and advised us to get to the bottom of the hill, well we did not do so quick enough, the van was sliding too much and then the truck started to do the same. Mike came to the rescue on Christmas morning! After trying to shovel and rack some of the snow away it was decided that it would all be better if Mike took his tractor and pulled/ lead the vehicles to the end of the road, he first took the truck, then he returned for the van. All in all it took about 2 amd 1/2 hrs from Mikes Christmas morning, We can not say thank you enough, it was as if Santa was on the tractor / sleigh helping us out. To Mikes wife Sharon, thank you for sharing your husband with us on Christmas morning and thank you for sharing your home. We are already planning our return trip for the summer of 2011! To Buster and Dixie, we will miss you.

We just love this place. There are so many adventures available wihtin a short drive, we do something new every year! But, most of all, we love to relax; either on the deck overlooking a gorgeous mountain view, or one of the lovely rest spots along the river trail watching Buster fish rocks out of the river and bark at them.

My husband and I just returned from a few days at the Britton's cabin. I've got to say it is the most relaxed, peaceful getaway we've ever taken. They have taken great pains...no...more like an incredible love of the land and people fortunate enough to visit it...in making it a perfect retreat. From the hiking trails to the bridge leading to the island, to the hot tub and fire pit, not even to mention the necessities inside the house, visitors will not want or need for anything because Mike and Sharon have already thought of everything. All you need bring with you is food and clothing. Everything else is provided and I cannot convey how immaculately they keep the house and property. The location is also a convenient drive into town (although once you reach the property you'll forget there's a town within a hundred miles) and just a little north (not even 15 minutes), are tons of activities (i.e. horseback riding, train trips, museums, etc.). All in all a PERFECT vacation spot for couples or families. Pulling into the driveway feels like coming home and even as beautiful as the pictures are, they do not do the cabin or the land justice. We will definitely be back, sometimes with our kids, and others just to escape from the rest of the world and drop off the grid for a few days (like we did this time). Thanks again for opening your piece of paradise to the outside world and sharing it with the rest of us. Most of all, thank you for being such thoughtful and welcoming hosts.

We just returned from an amazing Labor Day weekend at Five Ridge Bluff and I wish we were still rocking on the porch! The view is beyond gorgeous and the cabin is perfect. The kids had a great time walking the trail, wading in the river and enjoying the peaceful nooks and privacy. We'd highly recommend this beautiful spot to anyone. One learning - it's a few miles to the nearest grocery, so plan ahead, and enjoy never wanting to leave the grounds! We'll definitely be back!

Wow this was really a pretty, clean & fun home to rent. I will say the creek is not right by the home, you have to hike to get down to it, but that was my family's favorite thing to do.(A little strenuous for anyone not in shape.)We loved this home and would definitely come back. You won't be disappointed. Thank you Mike for being so polite and a great host. Thank you Sharon for making sure this cabin has everything you need for the stay! Also we loved hanging out with Dixie & Samson. We'll be back!
Owner response:We want to thank the Fenders for their comment. We always love to have comments from our guests. A little clarification -- the "creek" is really a small river. It is the waters of the upper Ellijay River. It is about a 5-10 minute walk to the river (depending upon how fast you walk), but you can also get to the river by a 2-minute drive down our private road for those who prefer not to walk. This cabin is a spectacular resort getaway for any lover of nature. Its immaculate cleanliness, neatness, and spacious rooms excellently accomodate a family with every comfort. There is an amazing view from the balcony and even a trail, so one doesn't even have to leave the property to get a great taste of nature. During our stay there, we observed deer grazing close to the cabin, traveled along the river trail, and cooked food over a campfire for a great tasting meal. The owners were extremely polite and friendly. If privacy is important to you, this is the perfect place to stay. We highly recommend this cabin to anyone. Thank you Mike and Sharon for sharing your property with us.

The cabin was wonderful. Views were even better than the pictures online. Mike and Sharon have thought of everything when decorating and adding amenities to this cabin. We loved the hottub and the firepit. My husband and children enjoyed the river. We ate at the PINK PIG down the road, which Mike recommended...it was a great country barbecue restaurant. We highly recommend renting this cabin if you are looking to experience the Blue Ridge Mountains. You will not regret it. Thanks Mike and Sharon for sharing your paradise! It was a wonderful family getaway before my oldest son headed for college. One we will cherish forever.

Every vacaton we take, we are ready to go home after 5 days at the most to recooperate before returning to work. We can honestly say that this is our first vacation where we could have stayed twice as long and still not have been ready to go home! The cabin is more than clean, it is spotless. The house has ample room for us if we wanted to bring the kids/grandkids, but was also a perfect size for just the two of us. If I had it my way, I would still be sitting on the deck! Having a river, hiking trail, and the cabin meant that we could still fill our day with the things we love to do without getting in the car. Mike checked us in and showed us around and even though we knew he was somewhere nearby-we never saw him or anyone else again! The privacy was wonderful as was the bread (what a nice touch). However, Mike left us with the feeling that if we did need something, he would have been more than happy to help. We will definitely be back-hopefully often! We will also be checking out this couple's other rentals as we know we will not be disappointed. Thank you again for such a relaxing, fun time! Wish we never left!

It's hard to find enough adjectives to describe Five Ridge Bluff. Eric and I along with our 2 kids met Eric's parents who drove from Pa, and spent 6 days there. Here it is over a month later, and we still can't stop talking about it! Mike and Sharon have thought of everything, both inside and out of the cabin. The trail, the island, the covered porch with the hot tub, the fire pit where we roasted hot dogs and S'mores...just an unbelievable time. Thank you for helping us have the best vacation ever. We plan on returning.

From the moment we drove in the driveway, we knew that we were going to have a great time. We rent a lot of private homes when we travel but none of them can quite compare to this one. It's hard to believe that you can actually rent a mountain cabin that sits on 120 acres with a river running thru it. The cabin itself is amazing. It is so well thought out with everything you could possibly need during your stay. It is spotless and decorated with quality items. It feels like it's your very own cabin. There are many many places that you can rent in this area, but trust me when I tell you that you'll regret it if you pass on renting this one. We definitely plan on coming back.

Personal e-mail received by homeowner: Hi! We stayed in your cabin 9-25 - 9-26, we had a great time. But the more important thing was how CLEAN and homey the place felt. Everything was there that you needed, all you really need to bring is your clothes and walking shoes. We do appreciate the cleanliness of the cabin and the location, the river, the view, and the trails were great. We tried to treat the cabin the way you do and leave it clean. We only hope that everyone who stays there will do the same. Thanks for the use of your cabin.

This place is truly WONDERFUL! I highly recommend it as a destination for anyone visiting Georgia. During our week stay we experienced pleasures too numerous to mention, but here are a few. I'll start with the incredible view. It is truly breath taking. The pictures do not do it justice. Sitting on the porch taking in the incredible vista had such a tranquilizing affect it became addictive. We spent much of our stay on the porch. I also took to the nature trail from day one. It is a beautiful one mile trail through the woods and along the river. Everyday we would hike the trails or swim in the adjacent river. It is totally relaxing and invigorating at the same time.We also did encounter deer and wild turkey during our hike. Another of our daily rituals became the evening hot tub on the back porch. You could not pick a more relaxing place for an evening soak with the crickets and the locusts serenading you in the back ground. Mike and Sharon truly have poured a lot of love and care into this wonderful cabin. It is impeccably designed and decorated. It has all the creature comforts a city boy from Chicago is used to: central air, satellite television, jacuzzi bath and dish washer. In addition a fully equipped kitchen made it possible to prepare many of our meals at home. Although I also highly recommended a visit to the local barbeque joints. In all it is a truly wonderful destination for anyone spending time in this region. I will return! Thanks, Brian Pudil- Chicago

Once a year for the past 23 years, I have joined my two buddies Ed and Rod for an annual guys’ getaway weekend where we drink entirely too much beer, watch macho movies till late at night, oversleep, go fishing, grill out, and generally solve all the world’s problems by Sunday morning. While searching for a new venue for our 2004 trip, I found Five Ridge Bluff on the Internet and, trust me, this place is a treasure. It’s the nicest, quietest, most remote and at the same time most CONVENIENT and LUXURIOUS place in which we’ve ever had our annual retreat, yet it’s only a few minutes away from the main highway and a huge grocery store (in case you forget to bring anything). Located way high on a mountaintop, the view from its porch is both serene and stunning, and the real beauty of this is that you can enjoy the cabin’s breathtaking vista while rockin’ in a chair, cooking on the grill, or floundering cheerfully in the large roof-covered hot tub. We spent most of our time out there! We also made it down to the river during the day (a very athletic climb - for which Mike and Sharon thoughtfully provided an assortment of walking sticks - that made me proudly feel a little like Indiana Jones), and were able to catch some more than respectable sunfish (aka “bream”) and bass. There’s even a picnic table located at the best spot, with a heavy plank nailed to a massive tree limb that extends out across the river, so you can fish directly over the water. After the exhilarating climb back up to the cabin, I was more than ready for a shower in the cabin’s handsomely appointed master bedroom and then another dip in that splendid hot tub. It was my 46th birthday and, honestly, I couldn’t have felt happier or more like a king.
