We visited last May with our three young children (almost 5, 3, and 1 year old) and found this home to be just what we needed. It was comfortable and kid-proof, and the fenced-in yard with toys was fabulous. We came home raving about Sandpoint and "our" little house, which seemed to have a 360 degree view of the mountains. I would highly recommend this home to all, but especially to families with little ones. SO much better than staying at a hotel! The laundry room did smell a bit of cigarette smoke, but the main house did not. We are quite sensitive to smoke smell and were not greatly bothered.Recommended for: Families with young children.

I just had to write this review after staying at this little home in Sandpoint Idaho, my Husband and son along with our very good friends and there son stayed here during our recent trip for a Karate seminar/camp in Aug. of this year. the home is perfect! better than we expected, with everything and more than you need to cook, clean sleep and have a wonderful bonfire. the beds were so very comfy, the home was large enough for all 6 of us (4 Parents and 2 18 year old boys. I would recommend this property for anyone looking for all the comforts of home with the wonderful added addition of the country. The owers son was great, he took us on a tour of the property to see the views and the wildlife. he was very helpful and sweet. (definetly an asset to the stay) We will stay here again for sure!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, people with disabilities, families with young children.

Thanks for such a beautiful set up. The animals were so much fun as our kids stayed out and played with them most of the time. The property is beautiful and peaceful. The owners were so nice to talk to and very attentive to anything you needed. We did not need anything because everything was provided perfectly. We also loved roasting Smores in the Fire Pit as the evenings were perfect for it. Thanks Again and we hope to return again. Our yearly outing with the grandkids was enjoyed in the beautiful Selle Valley, 9 miles north of Sandpoint, ID, at the Hooper family's Rocking T Ranch rental. TJ, "B" and their children made our stay fun and memorable sharing the best fishing and swimming spots on their expansive and awe-inspiring property. The grandkids loved the close proximity of the animals (horses, sheep, chickens, goats). It was a treat to feed them, watch them and hear them as they are all "city" kids. The younger two spent a lot of time in the fenced playground right next to the house. As a family, we enjoyed time around the firepit in the evenings roasting marshmallows and playing games. The gas bar-b-q was a great way to prepare meals outside; eating at the umbrella-covered picnic tables. The house accomodated us very well. The kitchen & bathroom are very generously stocked with everything you may have forgotten to bring. The water is spring-fed ( forget bringing bottled water) you won't find any better. The furnishings are very comfortable including the beds. The children found games and toys to entertain them before and after our excursions outside. If by chance there is something you do need, your requests will be met quickly and very adequately. You won't be taking a chance by renting this property.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: T.J. Hooper and B (Birgett), owners of the Rockin T Bar ranch. I moved to Sandpoint from Grass Valley, CA to continue raising my percheron draft horses and cattle. I met my wife, who was raised in North Idaho, and works as a hairdresser. We now work our ranch together with our three kids, Sarah, Isaac, and CC. I moved here to raise, train, and breed horses, but I now know that the best crop grown here is kids.
Why the Owner Chose Sandpoint:
We bought our vacation rental because it was the second half of our ranch, and when it came up for sale by the original owner we bought the first half. We did not want the second half of the ranch to be split up. We have 120 acres with a mile of creek frontage and four year round ponds. There is also 12 acres of untouched wetlands, making this ranch one of the most beautiful properties in the Selle Valley.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
While visiting our cozy country home, you can enjoy feeding the farm animals, collecting your own farm fresh eggs for breakfast, or just enjoying the stunning mountain views. In the spring and summer you can walk just a few hundred yards and fish, go rafting, or kayaking, on Grouse Creek. In the winter you can cross-country ski, snowshoe, and sled right outside your front door. Bring your own horse and ride or hike on miles of trails.
