STEP BACK IN TIME... THIS VINTAGE MAINE SUMMER COTTAGE sits up high on the rugged shoreline of Westport Island overlooking Islands in the Sheepscot Bay, working Lobster Boats, Harbor Seals on the ledges in front and out to Hendriks Head Lighthouse and the open Ocean beyond..
The cottage was built in the early 1800's and has been tastefully restored for comfort. There is central heat for the foggy damp days. It is surrounded by Stone Walls and has three private acres and 800 feet of DEEP-WATER frontage which makes it the ideal family reunion or wedding spot..Pick your month!...Lilacs in May, Salt Spray Roses in June, Old Maine cottage Lillys in July or Blackberries in August....And you can order your LOBSTERS fresh off the Boat of the Lobsterman's coop on the Island!
There is a shoreline path that takes you to a private point and Private deep-water dock, which overlooks a small and active cove. A deep-water mooring is available in the cove, and will hold up to a 32 foot Boat.
Westport Island is a 2 by 12 mile undiscovered "jewel" connected to the mainland by bridge. It is 9.8 miles down off route one to the door of the Cottage, which makes it an easy commute to all of the activities and attractions that the Beautiful Mid Coast and Boothbay Harbor area of Maine has to offer.

This cottage is simply magnificent. I thought cottages were small, quaint and cute, well not this FIND!!!! When I pulled up to this rental my mouth was wide open with AWE and when I went inside the awe just kept on. It is warm, cozy, inviting full of amazing antiques as well as fun cottage furniture and delightful colors. This cottage is very comfortable with so much room. My family has enjoyed the views, lobsters delivered to the dock the seals a night time fire over looking the water. The water is chilling but that does not stop silly kids from jumping off the dock. It is a resonable drive to touristy towns to explore, shop eat and take boat rides to see light houses, water life, and more amazing cottages. We can not wait to return.

Our extended family of 11 from MD and MN ages 10 to 69 vacationed at this beautiful home July 9th-16th and had what is our best family vacation ever! This home is just as advertised - beautiful views are by far and away the highlight! The home is comfortable for multiple age groups and decorated with beautiful antiques, plenty of books and games, and everything you need to make your own lobster feast. If you are looking for beautiful views, comfort, peace and access to the water this is the house for you. Our children 16, 12 and 10 loved kayaking, watching the seals, otters, lobstermen, playing chess and cards with their grandparents, traveling to Acadia and Boothbay and the rope course at Monkey C Monkey Do. The adults loved being outside watching the water, cooking fantastic meals (check the lobster co-op on the island to buy fresh lobsters off the boat), kayaking (gathered our own mussels off the cliffs below the house) and being an easy drive to Freeport, Bath, and Boothbay Harbor areas. The owner was an excellent host and very responsive. Want an authentic Maine experience - this is the house for you!

I have so many beautiful and touching reviews and letters from from guests who have stayed at my cottage since 1989, and I have saved them all! They are in the cottage "guest book". I could notbegin to choose which ones to publish on this site, so come and spend some time on the island and you will be able to read them all and add your own! Ellen, owner for 37 years.

This rental captured our hearts in 2006, so much so we flew across the country in 2008 to stay again. The house is cozy and charming. There were 7 of us and we each had our favorite spots at different times during the day. Reading a book in the early morning in the sun room. Croquet on the lawn while watching the Lobster Boats. Wine and Cheese on the dock. Swinging on the tire swing by the wishing well in the early evening. Sitting on the front porch watching the fire flies. We can't wait to visit again!!

The house has the best view on the island. Every morning I wake up to watch the seals play on the rocks below. The birds play in front of the windows as if they where putting on a show. Afterward I like to make breakfast and the kitchen is stocked with everything I need. All the kids like to play outside because there is plenty of ocean front land for outdoor games and picnics. This house is perfect location for exploring Maine. Booth Bay Harbor is a quick drive north and there are many wonderful towns in between to visit. All the bedrooms are unique and comfortable. They all have lots of light and fresh Maine air. There is lots of room for a large family to spread out along the house. The large front porch is my favorite for cocktail hour. At the end of a big lobster dinner my family always makes a big fire on the point to watch the boats come in and end our day truly relaxed. This house has it all!
