Bear Paws - Located just minutes from downtown Gatlinburg, the Ober Gatlinburg Ski Lodge and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. "Bear Paws" is about 4 miles from downtown Gatlinburg in the Chalet Village community.
The large wooded lot provides excellent beauty and noise is practically non-existent in this area. The chalet is a beautiful 3 story modified A-Frame with 3 full levels. You will enjoy 2 wood burning fireplaces (1 in the main living room and 1 one in the rec. room). 4 private bedrooms to accommodate 8 guests comfortably. There are 2 bedrooms on the main level and 2 bedrooms upstairs. 1 full bath on each level. The lower level has a huge rec. room with pool table, ping pong table, plenty of lounge seating, cable TV and a wood burning fireplace.
The kitchen is fully equipped with all the necessary appliances including stove/oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster etc. All cook ware and plate ware is provided. Towels and linens are provided as well. All you need to supply are the groceries. (Or skip the cooking while you are on vacation and enjoy one of the fantastic restaurants in downtown Gatlinburg).
Just out back and tucked under a covered gazebo, is the 4 - 6 seater hot tub to soak your cares away after a busy day.
About 2 miles away is Ober Gatlinburg, a beautiful ski resort with excellent ski slopes, a large indoor ice skating rink, restaurants, lounges and even a bear zoo. The aerial tram to Ober Gatlinburg takes you directly to the heart of downtown in 15 minutes and can be seen from the chalet as it passes overhead.
This chalet has been known for its bear sightings, which is why we named it Bear Paws. Just remember.. . . DO NOT FEED THE BEARS!
Since Bear Paws is privately owned and managed, prices are very modest. Please call or email us if you have any questions.
Bear Paws is located in the mountains. Should there be snow you will need a 4 wheel drive!
Optional travel insurance is provided at booking.

Thank you so much for making our Smoky Mountain vacation so memorable. We had such a wonderful time. Your cabin is charming and very well equipped with everthing that we needed. This cabin is so convenient to everything, especially the Ober Gatlinburg Ski Lodge and we enjoyed watching the tram go by from the deck and even saw a bear in the front yard one morning (I thought they hibernated this time of year)We will remember Bear Paws for our next Smoky Mountain visit for sure. God Bless!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I rented Bear Paws during October this year and found it to be the perfect vacation spot. It was great having both a pool table and a ping pong table. We stayed 4 nights and made good use of the outdoor grill and the hottub. We were even lucky enough to see a bear one night. Although seeing the bear outside made some of us a bit shy about going outside that night to use the hottub, it didn't prevent us from using it on other nights! The road to the cabin is very steep and can be confusing, but once you get there, it is really worth it. If I visit the Smokies in the near future, I would definately hope Bear Paws is available.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.
Owner response: So glad that you enjoyed your stay and that will visit us again soon! Yes, we are still seeing the bears.... they will start hibernating soon though as the temps begin to drop.

Our guests are raving about the Fall Colors this year! The views are fantastic. The leaves are starting fall and you can see the tram from Ober Gatlinburg as it is going by. Have seen several Bears this year too! Bear Paws has been recently spring cleaned, windows are sparkeling, we've added a gas grill on the deck and some new kitchen items too. Also added wifi and nationwide calling. Come and enjoy our little piece of heaven at a great price! Only 3 miles from downtown Gatlinburg and minutes to the Ober Gatlinburg Ski LodgeDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I recently got married in gatlinburg and a friends along with my husband and I stairs here. The place was fabulous! They had everything we needed for our cook outs we had every night! One night we were sitting outside in the hot tub and a bear came walking down the mountain it was maybe 5 feet away from us he sniffed around looked at us from the patio an then went down the driveway on his merry way! I was so excited I slipped and fell on the floor when I ran into the cabin to get my camera! Haha I had a nice bruise on my hip, foot, toe, and leg for my wedding!!! Hahahahahahahaha the only complaint I had was that the darn bear had gotten into the trash every night and there was trash all in front the cabin we held off on putting the trash out but they still got into it not the best impression when we arrived... But other than that I can't wait to go back I fell in love with the cabin and gatlinburg I would recommend this place to anyone!!!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

Could not believe that we got this huge place for the price we paid. You really have a beautiful place. The only thing is that the streets getting up there were scary as heck the 1st day and got less scary the more you go up and down, and the poor transformer outside of the place either got hit by lighting or a little critter got in there and fried it. 2 am and no lights was pretty crazy but the electric company had the electric back on couple hours later. We had a wonderful time and hope we can make it a family thing again so we can rent the cabin again. Thanks for a wonderful place to stay!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thank you, we are so happy that you enjoyed your stay at Bear Paws. Yes, the mountain roads can be a little "scary" if you have never driven them before. But, as you discovered... once you drive it a time or two it is so much easier.I'm sure it was the lightning that knocked the power out that night, what a storm that went through! Would love to have you visit us again! Rebecca

Must have had between 12-18 inches of snow over the Christmas holiday. It was beautiful! I would recommend Bear Paws especially for large groups. The place is huge. You really wouldn't have to see each other if you didn't want to; could easily place Hide n Seek! Could use a little updating but for the price, you can't do any better. I would like to suggest a door be installed between the lower level and living area. It was hard to keep the 2nd floor warm; however the 3rd level was like a furnace. I don't think you are getting your money's worth on the cleaning. Was pretty clean on the surface, however spider webs were covering the light fixtures in the upstairs bedrooms, kind of dusty and dirt under living room furniture. Overall Bear Paws is an excellent value unless you're super picky and we plan to stay again this coming summer.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.
Owner response: I'm so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Bear Paws. That was a lot of snow we had, wasn't it? I will be sure to address those light fixtures right away! We look forward to you visiting again this Summer. Thanks again! Rebecca
