This property that we rented was exactly what the pictures and the description made it out to be. The quality of the furniture, bedding, appliances and overall functionality was more than ideal. Our party consisted of 8 people in their late 20's and early 30's and all of us were really pleased with the rental property. If I really had to come up with a complaint about the property it would have to be that it is about 25 miniutes to the ski hill, but to my party and I it was not an issue at all and if it had a hot tub the property would be 10 stars!! We went to a function in White Fish for New Years and we worried about transportation to and from White Fish as we did not want to drive, we rented a cab that was able to take us to White Fish and which ended up costing 5 dollars a person!! I would definitely recommend the rental to anyone who wants to explore in and around glacier national park, skiing or a nice getaway! The owners were more than accomdating and were very responsive in all questions and concerns. I did not have to wait very long for the damage deposit, this was my first experience with VBRO and I hope they are all this great!

We stayed here while on a ski holiday over Christmas. What a great place! There were 8 adults, young and old and this place fit us all very comfortably. For those who are looking for clean, this is your place! It is immaculate and very nicely decorated! It has everything you need, and then some; even sandwich bags! The beds are very comfortable too. For those concerned with the location to Whitefish, don't let this be a problem. It is a 10 minute easy drive. We would highly recommend this place and will definitely stay here again!

Review #5609087 "12 Thumbs Up!" We were three couples from Southern Indiana looking for a cool escape from the summer heat and we found it in Columbia Falls, Montana. It has been our practice to rent homes when we travel and we chose Riverside Retreat after viewing it on the internet. We could not have picked a better place to celebrate the 4th of July. Riverside Retreat is by far the best appointed VRBO we have encountered. Normally, VRBOs are stocked with starter supplies and, as you run out, you purchase more. Not so with Riverside. This beautiful and comfortable home had everything (except food, of course) we were going to need for our entire stay, right down to the fabric softener! We even had use of the computer. Randy and Dixie were just an e-mail away and always quick to respond to any of our questions. But Riverside Retreat wasn't our only surprise. There was Glacier. Glacier National Park is breathtakingly beautiful with waterfalls everywhere. We saw soaring eagles, bear cubs playing on a hillside, goats sunning themselves along the rocky slopes and a moose loping down the middle of a park road with a parade of cars behind her. We traveled the Going-to-the-Sun Road and walked in the snow. Lake McDonald Lodge provided us with a crackling fireplace to warm ourselves by on one unusually cool afternoon. We had brunch at Loula's in Whitefish and gourmet sandwiches and pizzas at Jammer Joe's. Our only disappointment (oops, forgot about our regretable dinner at the The Nite Owl) was when we had to board that plane to start our journey home. When we return to Glacier we hope to have a repeat our wonderful experiences, beginning with another stay at Riverside Retreat.

Owner response: Thank you, Laura, for all your hard work on this FANTASTIC review. I absolutely love the "12 Thumbs Up"! It makes my husband and I feel so good to see how our guests love their time here. We do all the cleaning, stocking, etc., ourselves and are very, very meticulous about everything. We endeavor to make Riverside Retreat as perfect as possible for our guests. We will be looking forward to your return visit! Dixie Nelson, Owner

My wife and I just completed our stay at this wonderful home in Columbia Falls. The Riverside Retreat was a fantastic place call home for the week we were in Montana. The home is beautifuly decorated and furnished with much more than you will need to make your stay complete. Kathy even commented while there it felt like she was staying in a home just like her mother mother's, decorated to the hilt, even the kitchen had absolutly every thing you will need to eat every meal at home. Just shop for groceries and all the spices, pots, pans, and utinsels are at your finger tips. We rent homes quite often and this one was the best of the best, every accomidation you think you might ever need is there. When we were leaving we were asking ourselves why we ever subject ourselves to the hotels with their noise filled halls and the maids banging on the doors first thing in the morning. If you elect to stay at the Riverside Retreat you find the accomodations excellent for for a couple or a large family. We give it 5 stars and will stay with them again on our next visit to Montana.

My husband and I are avid VRBO and Home Away vactioners. Every trip we have taken from Hawaii to St. Croix to Cape San Blas, etc. we always rent via one of these sights. This is by far the nicest, most well maintained, stocked and equipped home we have ever rented. It is in the perfect location for everything in the area. We spent several days exploring Glacier and rode horses at Many Glacier. We took a day trip to the National Bison Refuge and a side trip to Kerr Dam. Both of those places were really neat. We went to Markel Pottery Studio and met Robert Markel. He enjoyed sharing his art with us and I brought home a beautiful pitcher. One day we floated the Swan River and I experienced fly fishing for the first time. This area is so beautiful that words cannot describe all there is to do and see. Any direction you travel will lead to something beautiful. I strongly recommend a trip to this area and a stay in this lovely home.

Riverside Retreat was everything we expected and more! Being personally greated at the front door by Randy made you feel welcome from the time you arrived and was very nice. This home has so many personal touches everywhere in the house that you feel right at home from the minute you walk in the front door. The house had everything we needed and more! The care and detail put into Riverside Retreat are noticable throughout the home. The elegance and comfort of each room was a treat to come back to in the evenings. We enjoyed utilzing the grill and the relaxing in the peaceful setting on the back deck. The comfort and coziness of the home was fantastic. The first couple of nights we even had an unexpected little 4 legged visitor, a black bear. We have rented homes for the past 10 years and this is with out a doubt, the most completely equipped and comfortable home we have yet to stay in. Kuddos to Randy and Dixie!

This was an absolutely perfect spot for our family. The owners were wonderful to work with and it was everything they said it was and more. The house was beautiful, very well maintained and accomodated our families every need. The gardens were lovely and had a perfect deck for us to enjoy. We spotted a variety of wildlife and watched Bald Eagles fish on the river. The weather was wonderful and we could not get enough. We were so close to any activity we chose. Glacier National Park was fabulous and we spent many hours there, touring, hiking, riding horses, white water rafting, sight seeing and shopping. We drove into Canada, over to Blackfoot country, shopped in Kallispell and toured Whitefish. But, more than all this, was a warm and comfortable place to come home to. I would highly recommend this beautiful home to anyone.

We took the grandkids and kids to see Glacier NP for the first time, and stayed here as a base for our trip. The house is exactly as advertised and was in excellent condition. It is only 20 minutes drive to the entrance to GNP from here, so each day we were able to spend lots of time in the park. Dixie (the owner) was very helpful and we had a most enjoyable stay.

I enjoyed a week long vacation with my family in this lovely home in early June. The timing was a little pre-season and we enjoyed the lesser amount of folks at all of the tourist attractions. We did have some weather, but it did not keep us from experiencing daily hikes to Glacier Park--very close to the West side. We also traveled to the East side and went to Canada! We enjoyed roughing it out by day and chilling it out by night at this lovely home. Everything in the listing is accurate and the property owners are definitely available for all of your needs. We definitely would come back and enjoy it all over again!

This home was elegantly furnished, clean and well maintained. The owners were extremely helpful and went out of their way to accomodate our schedule. The kitchen and baths were wonderfully equipped. Everything we needed in a vacation home was there. The landscaping on the property matched the beauty and elegance of the house. We were extremely pleased with the whole experience of staying in this vacation rental while visiting Glacier National Park. The property is about 20 minutes from the West Entrance to the park. If we have a chance to return to this area, we will try to rent this home again.

                  Year Purchased: 2002

About the owner: My husband and I were married right here in Columbia Falls 35+ years ago and have enjoyed living in the Flathead Valley ever since. We have helped build ourselves four different homes throughout our life together and have raised a family of four. We are now enjoying some quieter time...just the two of us. We are both entrepreneurs so we thought we would try another new adventure! We traveled to another state recently and enjoyed staying at a private vacation rental home with some of our grown children and grandchildren. We really enjoyed it and thought it certainly would be nice to offer the same services to someone visiting our area. It really made a big difference for us instead of us all staying in separate motel rooms.

Why the Owner Chose Columbia Falls:
We traveled to another state recently and enjoyed staying at a private vacation rental home with some of our grown children and grandchildren. We really enjoyed it and thought it certainly would be nice to offer the same services to someone visiting our area. It really made a big difference for us instead of us all staying in separate motel rooms.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Our guests have often commented on how Riverside Retreat is located in such a wonderful central location to Glacier Park, Big Mountain, Flathed Lake, and many other attractions located throughout the region.
