Charming wood-built Guest Cottage: Come and enjoy traditional Hawaii at Aina na Hoku Kai Farm, home of Cuppa Kona 100% Kona Coffee. Our Guest Cottage is situated a short distance away from our own home, and, as the only two residences on the farm, you are assured peace and tranquility, with no noisy neighbors to disturb your Hawaii dream. The farm is three miles up the Hualalai mountain from the popular town of Kailua-Kona with all its attractions, restaurants, beaches, snorkeling and diving centers, and more. Driving is on regular roads all the way, no four-wheel-drive tracks to negotiate!
The 800 square foot cottage is built Hawaiian-style, with polished teak and mahogany floors and walls, and expansive windows all around that are screened and furnished with sliding shutters or bamboo blinds and mini blinds.
The bedroom has a comfortable king bed, ample closet space and the floor is a ceramic tile. The living room has a full-size sofa and two day beds and is floored with a teak parquet. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could need (except a regular oven, and food), and there is a shower room and two separate powder rooms. The Cottage at Aina na Hoku Kai Farm is the perfect getaway for two couples, or a family of four, or just a couple who likes to have plenty of room.
We provide Kona coffee from our farm throughout your stay, and the gardens, swimming pool and deck are there for your use at any time.

What can I say, it was so pleasant, up on the hill side a wonderful cottage that was so well equiped we wanted for nothing. Chuck and MaryLou are graciouse hosts and had us settled in in no time. We were happy to have Chuck give us lessons in coffee production and watch him clean and roast the beans. The chickens, wild turkeys and beautiful local birds were very entertaining as well as the 2 new steers. My favourite of course was the hen under the bench that was sitting on 11 eggs for the 10 days we were there and I would have liked to watch her until the 21 day hatching, hope they make it. The coltage itself is so well equipped with all the kitchen items snorkle equipment loads of towels and all sorts of toileties. We were able to pick all the fruit we wanted, papyas, orange, tangerine, lemons, limes even tried the bread fruit. The private pool was great heated by solar and we could do laundry and hang it out to dry on the line provided. Our "kids" 2 adults joined us for one week and there was no problem with space, beds were all very comfortable and our king size was great in the bedroom with a very warm and cozy comforter. Also provided were housecoats, great idea. as well as all the gear for the beach, including snorkle and chairs and cooler Well, by now you realize we were very impressed by the whole experience with Chuck and MaryLou hope you can also enjoy this place - we certainly hope to return Chuck the coffee is great and thank you for providing coffee during our time with you.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We enjoyed a great time on our 2 week visit. The host were very helpful and informitive. The cottage was extremely clean and well organized, the only thing we needed to bring was our food. Of course fresh fruit right off the trees was available. We would highly recommend this location to anyone planning a trip to Kona. The farm was very well maintained with a scenic panorama view of Kona. Everything was within a 10 - 15 minute drive.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

The cottage was spacious, clean, and well-equiped, situated on lush grounds that our toddler loved to explore. We enjoyed the fresh picked fruit and mac nuts from our backyard, and BBQing poolside at sunset. Secluded but not remote. Our hosts provided spot-on restaurant, beach, and sight-seeing recommendations. Bring a sweater for the cool evenings and ear plugs if you plan to sleep in later than the resident roosters. We absolutely loved it here and can't wait to return.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Aloha Noah, Thanks for the review and staying with us. We really enjoyed all of you, but your daughter stole our hearts, she was so cheerful and curious! Mahalo, Chuck

We had a wonderful stay here, with welcoming hosts and a beautiful setting. This spot is in a lush green farm setting, just up the hill from the tourist zone, but close to the beaches and any activities of interest. The cottage is lovely, with all items needed to cook and enjoy a rejuvenating stay. The beds and living accommodations are comfy and clean as a whistle. We so appreciated the extra touches provided, including towels, boogie boards and snorkeling equipment. We loved the tour of the active coffee farm, and the delicious coffee and ripe fruit we enjoyed. Our hosts shared valuable tips on beach and snorkeling spots as well as island info that made our whole vacation more complete. We appreciated coming and going each day just as if it were "home." We hope to have the opportunity to stay here again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Aloha Julie, Mahalo for visiting with us and sharing some of your vacation time with us. We enjoyed having you here! Chuck

First of all - thank you for a great time!!! We had a wonderful time at Mary Lou's and Chuck's place. It is located very convenient, close to town, close to the beach and far enough from both of these (if you do need not all the rush 24/7). The cottage is just wonderful - it is fully equipped with all the things you need for cooking, living, and relaxing. We could also use all the beach and pool gear - for snorkeling, beaching (towels, mats, cooler etc) and more. At Cuppa Kona you are surrounded by alot of green, trees but also chickens or turkeys. And if the chickens are good, you get some eggs for breakfast from Chuck. Fruits, macadamia nuts and more can be picked and enjoyed. If you want Chuck will show you some of his old engines which he repaired by himself - very impressive. We can recommend this place to really everybody - even with a one year old child. Max loved the place, the pool and the BBQ, which we used extensively! At Mary Lou's and Chuck's Cuppa Kona your vacation of Big Island will just be perfect. Thank you for a wonderful time!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Aloha Matt, Thanks for the review and your family's visit. We enjoyed having you here and are pleased that you took an interest in you surroundings with us. Mahalo, Chuck

You can stay here very comfortably. The bed is huge and so comfortable! We easily fit 4 of us in this neat, very clean cottage. It is a little noisy since there isn't glass in the windows! But it is very private. The property is well-kept, and good representation of Hawaii. Shopping is only 15 minutes away. Beautiful beaches are within 15 minutes - and snorkeling, kayaking, swimming, boogie boarding - anything you want to do. Chuck has snorkeling equipment, boogie boards, beach towels. I would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a good home base. Only drawback for me was the distance across the island - but we enjoyed beaches/shopping in close proximity. Happy to say the price was reasonable :) Chuck was available for any questions.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Aloha Sonia, Mahalo for your review. It was a pleasure to have you and your family stay with us. We're glad that you found the bed to be top notch. We hear that from quite a few of our guests. As far as the size of the island goes, there isn't much we can do to change that, and besides that, the volcano is even making the island a little bit larger!:) Chuck

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2002
About the owner: Mary Lou and Chuck retired to the property in 2002. Chuck's parents had lived on the property for over thirty years. As third generation Kona residents they enjoy sharing their special place, and knowledge of the surrounding, its history and attractions.
Why the Owner Chose Holualoa:
We decided to retire on the place that Chuck's parents lived on for over thirty years because the setting and culture provided a unique place for a variety of interests to be pursued.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
You will be staying in a rural setting in a well appointed cottage. Our elevation of 1,500 feet provides a cooler setting than along the coast. No heat required, no air conditioning required. Tropical fruit available for the picking as the seasons dictate, wild pheasants, turkeys, and free range chickens to watch. 100% Kona coffee provided, grown and processed from fruit to roasted coffee on the property. Pool is immediately adjacent to the cottage front door. Close to town, beaches, and the highway that goes all the way around the island. Chuck will be glad to run his local antique engines, up to 100 years old, for those interested.
