Beautiful, completely restored Beach Front home. Great curb appeal, but even better view from the ocean side. Private stairs to the beach. Full view patio doors in great room open to let in the sea breezes. Beautiful wood floors throughout. Great surfing right from the backyard. Several additional great surf breaks in short walking distance. Surf fishing from the backyard. Great kayaking. Volleyball area in the cove.
This home is a beautiful cottage built in the early 1900's and has been completely restored and updated with all of the creature comforts you need to relax and make this your get away destination. This is truly a great cottage, but there is no question that being on the beach makes all of the difference in the world! You don't have to walk the kids to the beach! They are there! The hot water shower is right there in the backyard, steps away from the beach. If you have stayed in a home on the beach, you understand! If you haven't, now is your opportunity!
The central coast is the up and coming wine region of California. Templeton, Paso Robles, Edna Valley and even Cayucos and Cambria offer many destination wineries to tour, taste and buy.
If you are not into wine touring, there are so many activities right outside your door. You may decide to park the car and just stay put for the week.

This property does not disappoint. It is an amazing and wonderful home that offers a number of vignettes throughout the cottage property to provide many ways to unwind. The photos accurately reflect this special beachfront location. Our family found the location to be a combination of blissful peace while offering access to activities abound. The only thing that tops this wonderful vacation home is the warm and welcoming manner in which the owners make you feel. We were so enamored with the property and warmth of the owners, we cannot wait to return.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at the property for eight days. The only problem was that is wasn't longer. The house was in terrific condition, very clean and stocked with everything we needed. The notebook explaining how everything worked was very helpful. No complaints. It was great!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

Perfect is all I can say. First, Lauren is a lovely lady who made my friends and I feel so welcome at her beautiful home. We arrived to my favorite cookies and some lovely wine. The house is a picture perfect cottage on the beach. Everything is comfortable and clean. You can't beat the beach access and outdoor shower for cleaning off after surfing or boogie boarding. I cant wait to go again soon!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I arrived Sept. 15th 2012, on a Saturday afternoon. As soon as we walked through the back gate we were instantly relaxed with the beautiful yard with fountains and blooming plants and walkways. When we walked through the front door my mouth dropped in amazement of the beautiful ocean front view. We immediately opened the back doors to let the beach in, so beautiful and peaceful. Lauren and David left us a beautiful and thoughtful welcome gift of great local wine, cookies and flowers. The house is super clean, stocked with everything we needed plus some extras. We enjoyed cooking in the well stocked kitchen, relaxing by the fireplace in the morning with coffee and on the back patio with wine in the evenings. The furniture is super comfortable, as are the beds. This was really important to us because we enjoy very active vacations, we like to rest in comfort. We ran a half marathon from Journey's End to the pier, back to Morro Rock and then back to Journeys end. We hiked every day and cycled. Comfortable beds, showers and furniture were a must and J.E. delivered for sure. The guest book is full of recommendations from the owners as well as past guests about where to eat, hike, ride, go wine tasting and more. We took it as a personal challenge to eat at as many places as we could, lol. It was a great time in one of the best places we have ever stayed. Will most definitely return. Highly recommended.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

I just can't say enough!!! This house is amazing. The views are gorgeous and the house is just so chill. Every detail is perfect. We had an amazing time. We arrived with fresh flowers, wine and cookies waiting for us. We sat on the porch looking out at the ocean feeling so relaxed and wondering how people live like this. So many personal touches made this so comfortable. Loved both fire places outside...... We sill definitely be coming back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My family and I recently spent a very relaxing week at Journey's End. This cottage exceeded our expectations ! Beautiful gardens, patios and wonderful view from the living room. We enjoyed watching all the dogs running and playing with their owners on the beach, as well as watching for dolphins (we saw a few). The beds were really comfortable, the place was very clean and has everything you might need. I really look forward to coming back for another stay. Charming and just very comfortable. Loved the fireplaces inside and out.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

After two weeks at Journey's End, I can verify that all the positive reviews are right on. This cottage is just amazing with its wall of windows and doors to the pacific ocean. You can just sit and relax and watch all the sea life and birds go by. Or you can walk down the stairs to the beach and if your are there at a low tide, you might see dozens of sea stars in the small tide pools by the rocks. We had 5 adults and 2 kids sleeping in the house and it was just fine, because of all the openness to the beach and patio. The new gas grill was an added bonus! The location to downtown was perfect, we sure enjoyed walks to Kelley's, Duckies, the Brown Butter Cookie Co. and the Candy Counter. We hope to be back soon. This is the second time my family has stayed at Journey's End over the Thanksgiving Holidays and we were wowed with the completed landscaping. A lot of thought and love was put into everything both inside and out. You will find this home charming, very clean, well appointed and extremely comfortable and relaxing. What could be better than waking up in the morning to the sound of the ocean - a hot cup of coffee and dolphins jumping in the surf! We love Cayucos and love Journey's End!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Location
Owner info
Year Purchased: 1998
About the owner: My mom grew up in this little coastal town and I always wanted a vacation home here. Fortunately my native Texan wife, opted for a vacation home here vs. the Texas panhandle. We love the place and enjoy it when it isn't being enjoyed by others!
Why the Owner Chose Cayucos:
Small town with a small town feeling. Great beaches. Great hiking. Great surfing. Beautiful central coast.
If you want to see additional pictures and get the latest updates, add Journeys End Cayucos as a friend on Facebook.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Stress free. We walk to Morro Bay, about 5.5 miles to the south at least once a week when we stay here. We kayak and surf as much as we can. We walk 1 mile to the north to downtown Cayucos and hang out at Kelly's Coffee in the morning with the locals. Great dining with Hoppe's and the Cass House, right down town.
On a practical side, being right on the beach and having the private beach access with a great cove at the foot of the steps is a huge bonus. Cuts way down on the logistical issues of packing for beach activities! Hot water outside shower was probably one of the 'smartest' things we added!
