Sierra Mountain Comfort - Peaceful, Family Perfect Get Away.
- Minimum stay:2 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
HUFF AND PUFF COTTAGE is peacefuylly snuggled between downtown Oakhurst and Bass Lake off Road 426 and approximately 30 minutes from Yosemite National Park. Our South-Wing Duplex is situated at the 3,000’ elevation where, in the winter, we do occasionally get snow.
We are surrounded by oak and pine trees and have easy access to Road 426 which is well maintained by the county and very convenient.
As in all of the Sierra Mountains, wildlife abounds. We are visited regularly by meandering Mule Deer and a large variety of migratory birds. We also have periodic visits from raccoons, coyotes, opossum, gray tree squirrels, gray fox and much more, While we haven’t personally seen any skunks, lions and bears on our property they are definitely nearby.
The howling of coyotes can often be heard in the morning and evening hours. We've seen them, too, sauntering through in broad daylight.
On cloudless nights stargazing is always an awesome sight in the darkened mountains.
Our main goal is that our guests find HUFF AND PUFF COTTAGE not just clean, but warm and comfortable, peaceful and tranquil and well furnished with all the necessities and added ammenities for a memorable vacation.
The Cottage was fully remodeled in 2007. The flooring in our home is a combination of carpet and porcelain tile. Parking is plentiful at HUFF AND PUFF COTTAGE with ample space for vehicles and tow trailers.
We have two bedrooms, one bath and a great room/kitchen combination. Five sky lights bring the outdoors in - spreading an abundance of light throughout and our solar screens eliminate any glare.
Bedroom One is complimented with a King Size Bed, pine furniture, a large cable television and a romantic sky light with two large windows.
Bedroom Two includes a Queen Size Bed and an adventurous toy closet for our youngest guests. This room has a ceiling fan and two large windows.
Our roomy Bathroom has a tub/shower combination with tile surround, grab bars and shower doors. Another sky light is located here along with porcelain tile flooring, oak cabinetry, granite countertop and a large mirror.
We do provide soap, hair dryer and all linens!
The Great Room boasts a beautiful rock veneer gas fireplace with a mantel and hearth, a large bay window for viewing the great outdoors, an entertainment center with cable television and CD/DVD/VCR player, a separate radio / CD / cassette / turntable, a Queen Size Sleeper Sofa, loveseat, two recliners, an extendable oak dining table and chairs.
HUFF AND PUFF COTTAGE has a well equipped kitchen with electric range, microwave, refrigerator / freezer, stainless double sink with garbage disposal, oak cabinetry and granite countertop with tile surround.
For outdoor enjoyment you’re invited to sit back and relax on our spacious patio and enclosed back yard. The patio has a private access door and is fully covered with aluminum sun blocking lattice. A gas barbeque, patio table and chairs and lounger is a nice convenience for outside wining and/or dining. We also have a toy chest filled with outside toys for the kids.
The landscaped and grass back yard is enclosed by a 4-1/2’ block wall with chain link fencing and gates at either end making this a fun, secure play yard.
The bay windows in the Great Room look out onto your private front lawn where the meandering deer with their fawns are often seen close up in the morning and early evening hours.

Our stay at the Huff and Puff cottage was wonderful. It's everything you see in the pictures and more. If you are planning on going to Yosemite or Bass Lake, this is the place to stay as it is perfectly situated. The owners are extremely welcoming and have thought of everything for a perfect stay. While in town, check out the Taqueria Plazuelas, the food is fabulous. We plan on returning in the near future.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We were really happy with this guest house. It was impeccably clean, plenty of room and has everything you need. The toy cupboard and book selection for the kids was impressive, our kids barely looked at the toys they had bought of their own. The patio and BBQ plus grass yard was also really nice and we saw deer every night around 7pm, one night one was looking in the lounge window.. The owners live in the main house adjoining the guest house but they totally respected our privacy and were really nice people. The house is about 5 minutes from Oakhurst town center and then about 30 minutes to the south Yosemite park entrance. Drive up road 426 and turn left at the Bass Lake sign and you'll be at Bass Lake in about 10 minutes. We have stayed in quite a few VRBO properties, but this has to be one of the best and we will definitely stay here again on future visits.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.

We stayed at Huff and Puff last week for 4 nights whilst doing Yosemite Nat Park, the cottage is very clean and comfortable and makes a great base for days out at the park. It is approx 30 mins from the south entrance to the park. Jill and Huff were very hospitable, keeping out of the way but always on hand to provide any advice or information needed the coolers and pic nic chairs were a great addition enabling us to pack lunch and drinks for the whole day and just loading the car up and off we went. Both bedrooms very comfortable, lovely private garden and very well equipped for any family stay. We shopped at Rayleys in the town and were very satisfied with the selection of goods available. Would go back without hesitation, if you are considering booking any accommodation in this area - book this unit you will not regret it.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

My two daughters and I had a wonderful stay at this great cabin! Everything we needed was there and the place was very cozy, safe, clean and comfortable. We especially loved the backyard and BBQ, even played with the toys that were provided in the toy chest! We also saw a deer on the other side of the fence! The owners respected our privacy but very friendly and helpful when needed. The location is perfect for Yosemite, as well as Bass Lake. Oakhurst itself had everything we needed for groceries, movie theater and restaurants. We would definitely go back!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

My wife and I, along with two teenage boys visited Huff & Puff in June 2012. The owners really made you feel at home. The cottage was beautifully decorated and stocked with everything that you would need and more in a rental. They even provided a picnic basket and table cloth if you wanted to take a picnic lunch to Yosemite. It was a wonderful experience and would love to stay again if we ever get back to that area.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.

Our stay at Huff & Puff Cottage was wonderful. The cottage is well-appointed with all of the comforts of home. Our hosts were charming and gracious...even offered a cooler and folding chairs to make sure we were comfortable on our day trips into Yosemite...and left a light on for the nights we came in late. We were worried about traveling with a toddler, but this was the perfect place to stay. The ammenities kept our son entertained ( a closet full of toys and a fenced back yard) while helping us to relax and enjoy our vacation.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you very much, Angela, for your kind review. Again, it was a pleasure meeting you and your wonderful family! Your little guy has it all....good looks, great parents and sharp as a tack. Enjoy and Take Care!

Love the Huff and Puff! It's so nice to hope that the accomodations you rent are as nice as the photos, only to find when you get there that it is NICER than the pictures!! Everything we could need was there....."Borrow" the chairs and bring them with you into Yosemite...Great to have for little "stopovers" or breaks to sit and read your book in beautiful surroundings. Thank you for everything!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1998
About the owner: We've owned the Cottage since 1998. We moved permanently to Oakhurst in 2006 adding a large North Wing where we reside and afterwards completely remodeled and upgraded Huff and Puff Cottage.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Our great location makes us easy to find, easy to get on the road and just a few minutes drive to town. We are away from all the hustle and bustle of Bass Lake, below the heavy snow level of the Sierra's and above the normal fog line of the San Joaquin Valley.
