Lots of positives for this place. We spent July 4th 2010 here. The charm and coziness totally grew on us with each day. It's not the Ritz, but it's definitely a home you wished you lived in. You walk in, it's very clean. The whole place is well decorated given the space. We made use of the bbq. The kitchen has almost everything we needed. (see note at bottom) We spent a lot of time hanging out in the relaxing backyard. Sat in front of the easy to use fireplace. Spent the nights in the two-person jacuzzi tub. It was quiet, pleasant, lovely. Lots of little things went a long way here. A fountain in the front and the back was very soothing. The gated back yard and dog run was perfect for our pup. The beds were extremely comfortable to sleep in. The wood windows became a fun tradition to open and close every time we came and went. Maria was very responsive to our emails when we had questions. The neighborhood is really cute, with friendly neighbors. The walk to the beach took about 10-15 minutes and there's a great park before you get there. It was perfect for our July 4th weekend. Fireworks went off on the pier and we practically had front row seats after we walked down to the beach. Main street is only a few minutes away with plenty of dining choices. Mimosa Cafe was one of our faves. We really look forward to returning. A few things to be aware of: There's no dishwasher and no microwave. It wasn't a problem for us. But if you don't want to do dishes, then just be aware.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.
Owner response: I've added a new microwave! .......you're all set for popcorn and movie night!

Hi Maria! We LOVE your darling beach house and are so happy to be back in San Clemente! We slept very well in your comfortable bed and are very impressed with what you have done to this adorable Ole Hanson duplex. It is like a mirror image of itself from one half of the house to the other. You have retained its charming casa personality and it is the nicest VRBO we've had the pleasure to rent! Today we had a terrific lunch at Selma's on Del Mar and, afterwards, we walked up and down Del Mar browsing the shops. The weather is divine and our vacation is off to a wonderful start.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1999
About the owner: I'm a native southern californian and love sports especially skiing both water and snow. Stand up paddlding is a my latest hobby and easy to learn especially at the Dana point harbor 15 min. away. Have fun!
Why the Owner Chose San Clemente:
I am a native Californian and always wanted to live in San Clemente. It's the best beach town in Southern California. I own several other homes - one in the mountains and another in the desert but this is my favorite! The weather is wonderful year around and the people are friendly. Beautiful beaches and close to everything ... what more can you ask for?
The Unique Benefits at this House:
This home was built in 1927 by the founder of San Clemente 'Ole Hanson'. It's single story and completely renovated with a private hot tub for two in the backyard. Walk or bike to the beach and village for shopping or dining. Very charming home complete with tranquil fountain in the front courtyard.
