Thanks, Jim!

The waterfall cabin was a fantastic getaway. Jim did a great job of making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The scenery around the cabin is first class, and it's proximity to Brevard convenient - the town is definitely worth checking out one afternoon. I would recommend any of Trout House Falls properties to my family/friends - Jim runs a 1st class operation

It was a dream!

The waterfall cabin was a dream! I felt like I was in a fairy tale. The only thing is that it was a drive from the river we were fishing. Other than that the house was perfect and very comfortable. I hope to go back one day.

Little Bit of Heaven

Guest: The Smith1 (North Carolina)
Date of Stay: 04/05/12 Review Submitted: 04/12/12

I was truly impressed with the Waterfall Cabin. It was everything that the owner claimed it would be and much much more. It was secluded with a beautiful stream running (or rushing after heavy rain) down the mountain. My young children enjoyed "fishing" for minnows, swimming, etc. in the stream. My husband and I joined in the fun or just enjoyed a glass of wine while lounging on one of the big rocks streamside. We enjoyed hiking, grilling out at the property, eating lunch in downtown Brevard (Square Root Cafe was wonderful!), and simply enjoying the scenary at the cabin. The house was immaculately cleaned, supplied with more than enough linens, housewares, firewood, etc. The owner was extremely helpful in planning our trip and was very kind. I knew after talking with him that we would have an excellent VRBO rental experience. You can not go wrong with this cabin if you are looking for a little bit of heaven. I am 100% sure I will rent this cabin again.

Our family was enchanted by this place. We couldn't get over the beauty of the surroundings. We were immediately hooked by the waterfall, the mossy rocks, and the mountain air. And the cottage itself was sublime. It was clearly created with great skill, great taste and much love. What a storybook cottage!

Spent a wonderful holiday weekend at the Waterfall Cabin! Perfect way to ring in the new year. The cabin was still decorated for Christmas with a live 12 ft Christmas tree which added to the charm. The cabin has everything you need for a relaxing weekend or week away. The setting with the stream out front was as picturesque as you can imagine. Thank you for sharing your home away from home!

Great Trout Fishing Getaway

Guest: Greg and Mary (Philadelphia)
Date of Stay: 10/06/11 Review Submitted: 11/30/11

My fiancee and I LOVED this little cabin by the stream. It was a perfect home base for the many adventures we enjoyed around Brevard: trout fishing, waterfall tours and hiking, pottery row, etc. We were so glad to have a real fireplace and great kitchen to cook in. And at the end of the day the memory foam mattress was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on away from home. Thanks for a great anniversary weekend retreat!!

Beautiful peaceful slice of heaven!!!

Guest: Joyce (Huntersville, NC)
Date of Stay: 09/23/11 Review Submitted: 10/12/11

My wife and I were lucky enough to spend a long weekend at the cabin by the falls and it was the most peaceful time I have had in many years. The cabin is cozy and comfortable with excellent sleeping accomodations. The wood pile was fully stocked for our evening fires and the sound of the waterfall outside the bedroom window was so soothing to the mind and spirit. We chose to relax and take advantage of the fact we were away from the everyday rush and constant cellphone calls. There was plenty of hiking trails, and we were even luck enough to see a big black bear cross the road right in front of our car (about 10 miles from the cabin thankfully!). It was an awesum site as he stared at us from just inside the woods edge as we very slowly passed by him. We would recommend this to anyone who's looking to have a secluded escape. Very relaxing...We will return

Incredible location on secluded stream

Guest: Heidi (Raleigh, NC)
Date of Stay: 08/07/11 Review Submitted: 08/11/11

My husband and I and our two boys age 8 and 11 stayed here recently and had the best time. The kids enjoyed exploring the stream and jumping in the small swimming hole which is crystal clear and filled with very cold mountain spring water. The house is right on the babbling stream and you can relax listening to the sounds of the stream while drinking your coffee on the front porch in the morning. This two bedroom home is the perfect size for a cozy family getaway. I also highly recommend Miller's Waterfall tour as a way to really get to know the area. Brevard is a close 20 minute drive and is a great place to shop, dine or sightsee.

Lovely Relaxing Getaway

Guest: Sharon (Kokomo, In.)
Date of Stay: 04/20/11 Review Submitted: 04/29/11

My husband and I loved this cabin. It was exactly what it was advertised to be. And exactly what we were looking for. A beautiful secluded cabin with gorgeous surroundings. We enjoyed it so much that we extended our visit a day and just stayed at the cabin. The waterfall makes this property so special. It is so relaxing to just sit on the porch and listen to the falls. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away and just relax and enjoy the outdoors. The other waterfalls in the area are stunning. We went in April after a few days of rain so they were especially beautiful. Miller's Waterfall Tours are worth the money. The Biltmore Mansion in the spring is so pretty with all the spring flowers in bloom. It is a great way to see part of North Carolina and the surrounding mountains.

We stayed at the Trouthouse Falls Cabin over the Thanksgiving Holiday and it was amazing! The secluded cabin is tucked away in the mountains and has it's own picture-perfect waterfall. The kids loved playing in the stream, and everybody enjoyed all of the nearby hiking trails. We hope to return someday before too long.

What a wonderful respite your lovely hideaway provided us. Completely away from the hustle and business of every day life- even enjoyed no cell phone service. The cabin was exquisite and extremely well decorated- not to mention the relaxing creek and waterfall. Been to the NC mountains many times, and this I believe was our most enjoyable. The simple town of Brevard offered a lovely afternoon and dinner. Can't wait to hopefully return in the Spring of 2011 and bring the grandchildren. Highly recommend this home.

Our Quiet Week At The Waterfall Cabin

Guest: Bob (St. Augustine, Florida)
Date of Stay: 10/10/10 Review Submitted: 10/24/10

Our week at the Waterfall House was a very peaceful vacation for us. The setting is absolutely beautiful. We hiked and photographed all over the Brevard/Pisgah/Caesar's Head areas while the foliage changed colors around us. I just printed our photographs and I'm amazed at the beauty of the area. The waterfall cabin was exactly as you described it-very cozy and comfortable. We originally intended to sample many of the local restaurants, but the cabin was where we were most comfortable, so we cooked simple meals and just let the beauty, peace and spirituality of the cabin and the falls to restore us. We spent a day with Craig Miller on his Waterfall Tour, where most of my really beautiful photos were taken. Craig is very knowledgeable about local restaurants and fruit stands, so we were fortunate to make his acquaintance. I recommend the Waterfall Cabin land have already told several of my colleagues about our vacation. You were a great host and we'll be back asap, Jim.

Lovely cabin, secluded location, nicely appointed interior, loved the stone fireplace and front porch that has a view of a small waterfall on the creek that runs thru the property. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals. Only let down was...for the price, my expectation would be a later checkout time, you really lose the entire last day. Also the cleaning lady came and stayed on the front porch an hour and a half before the check out time! Very uncomfortable situation.... In addition, it was a bit aggravating not to have amenities like hand soap etc in both the kitchen and bath....

Date of Stay: 09/21/10 Review Submitted: 10/04/10

This place provided more than I expected for de-stressing and relaxation. It was hard to leave the porch with the tranquil setting but the house was indeed well equiped with anything that was needed for cooking and entertainment. My inner child came out to seek imaginary water nymphs hiding in tree bases and rock stacking fairies along the creek, exploring paths, soft moss between my toes, A warm fire with rain on the tin roof lulled me to sleep on a cocooning mattress. I WILL return again to get that piece of my spirit I left there!

We had a great stay. The stream so close to the house is amazing. Our children played for hours in the stream. House is very nice and well provisioned. Only negative is that proximity to stream does make the house pretty damp inside. Might want to consider keeping a dehumidifier on hand. We will definitely book again. First rate experience.

Our stay at the Waterfall cabin

Date of Stay: 07/24/10 Review Submitted: 08/12/10

we were very concerned in the beginning UNTIL we drove up to the cabin. The Cabin, View, Atmosphere and Sereninty was so much more than explained to us and the website. As the days went by, we hiked up the streams and the trails and become one with GOD. Only he could have made this Garden of Eden. There was several days we had plans that we cancelled because we had all we needed right where we was. This place could only have been made by the hand of GOD. I would HIGHLY recommened this place to anyone. I have spoke with strangers on the way back and at the office, and our friends about the experience of living in Heaven. This, as we can imagine, is the closest we could be to Heaven as we could get.We will be there again next year right about the same date. We stayed there from 7-24-10 thru 7-30-10. We WILL be there again next summer without fail. Jon and Izi

My family and I just completed our amazing vacation at "The Waterfall Cabin." Steps away from the cabin's porch is a beautiful waterfall and steam. My daughters had a great time wading in the stream hunting for crawfish. As a family we enjoyed the close proximity to all the parks, and the charming town of Brevard, NC. It truly was a wonderful vacation. I would definitely recommend this rental to a friend or family. In fact, we plan to come back next year with my extended family.

When I discovered Trout House Falls on the internet, I was immediately taken by the beauty of the cabin and the waterfall. Looking for a few days of relaxation away from it all, my husband and I decided this looked like the place for us. We were not disappointed! The cabin was spacious but cozy with a stone fireplace. The kitchen was well equipped to cook all the trout you caught from the nearby stream, just steps from the front porch. It was relaxing to sit out there in the rocking chairs and listen to the waterfall. We had such a positive experience booking our reservation. The owner was very friendly and accomodating. We look forward to returning to The Cabin at Trout House Falls.

Our family of four just spent 7 nights at The Waterfall Cabin & we wanted to stay a month! It was beautiful, peaceful and serene. The temperature where the cabin is located was a constant & cool temperature that was just perfect. Our daughters had so much fun looking for crawdads & salamanders in the creek, & the waterfall sights & sounds were so relaxing. The town of Brevard was an unexpected plus! It was so much fun to walk around & we did quite a bit of shopping. We bought some excellent bread at the bakery down there & had a good meal & beer at Dugan's Irish Pub. We saw 6 or 7 white squirrels on the college campus & they were adorable & friendly. Remember to take some raw nuts for them! :) Pisgah National Forest was GREAT. I just loved The Cradle of Forestry, & the fish hatchery was so neat. Sliding rock there was a BLAST!! We found out that you can go there when they are CLOSED (after 6pm) & there was NO LINE!!! Our girls had a BALL! It is "slide at your own risk" then as there is no lifeguard, but it was quite safe. Try to wear denim shorts as our cotton shorts got holes in them from sliding. Sliding rock was ALOT of fun. :) Asheville is only 45 mins and well worth the trip. We also did the 4 hour guided waterfall tour with Craig Miller & it was fantastic. Beautiful waterfalls & he is a friendly & fun guide. We will be back!

If you seek an escape from the daily grind, to snuggle up by the fire with the one you love, or just getaway to enjoy the incredible hikes and waterfalls of the surrounding area, Trouthouse Falls will not disappoint. More than comfortable, rustic and modern rolled into one, this home is truly one of a kind. Great variety of fly fishing experiences in a short distance, wildlife abounds. Having adventured around the world, one of the best places we have EVER stayed! Thanks for a great adventure! We loved our week among the fall leaves in the Trout Falls Cabin. The leaves were turning as we watched and very beautiful along with our rushing mountain stream and the waterfalls. The cabin was furnished with everything that we needed and it was great to have a dry supply of firewood since some rain fell but we were able to enjoy a fire each evening. A cozy cabin for reading and working a jigsaw puzzle together. Liked being at the end of the road so very private. The gravel road will need some help as we hit bottom with our car in several places but that was the only negative during our entire week. Enjoyed a matinee at the local theater and Irish coffee at the Irish pub of Dugan's on one of our rainy afternoons.

What an extraordinary location! The cabin is beautiful and the waterfall was simply marvelous. We didn’t feel the need to hike miles away when we had our own waterfall right there! We had a peaceful and relaxing week. This area is motorcycle heaven and the antique shopping in Brevard was outstanding! What a lovely town! NC restaurants are all non-smoking, which was a delight as Virginia has yet to come to it's senses. We hope to return and enjoy this beautiful place again someday!

We stayed at the Waterfall Cabin during a June trip to go rock climbing in Brevard and the Linville Gorge. The cabin is in a wonderful location just far enough outside of town to make you feel like you are in another world. The sounds of the waterfall were glorious, and the house itself was beautiful. Last year, we stayed at the Riverfront Fishing Cottage, another of the owner's properties, and it was equally wonderful. Poppies is a must for food, dont miss the white squirrels in town, and, if you need a climbing guide, Fox Mountain Guides is the best in the Southeast. Oh, and be sure to go to O.P. Taylors if you have kids--it's a good old-fashioned toy store that our kids beg to visit every time we're up there. We'll definitely be back and will stay at one of the Trout House Falls' properties again!

Our family of three stayed the week before Easter at the cabin. We had a wonderful time. The location of the property is perfect - nestled down on a flat patch of land between hills on a stream. It was comfortable, clean, and relaxing. We used the fireplace every day, saw wild turkeys, racoons, birds, deer nearby, but no trout. Hopefully no previous guests poached the stream. We will definitely be back. We shopped at Poppies in Brevard - great - on the way to Looking glass falls. We did gem mining in Franklin (Mason's mine) and found almost 30 carats of sapphires. We had great family fun and even fluffy towels. Thanks.

Wildly exceeded our expectations. A friend of mine had a deposit on this house and could not go. My girlfriend and I took the reservation at a discount from my friend. WOW. Here are a few comments: 1. The locals even made comments at how nice the cabin was...nothing was missing. We even played monopoly which was provided! 2. The recommended Whitewater horse tours and Craig the waterfall guy was great! They both knew the area well. Craig is recommended! He was fun to hang out with during the day and has access to the most obsure waterfalls. 3. Definitely go into Brevard downtown. Great stores like Hunters and Gatherers. We bought so much there. 4. If you are into the cozying up with the locals for a drink go to Dugans. We went there to play trivia on the bar video game and the entire bar got involved. There was a local irishman there who bought us shots and we hung out with a lawyer, real estate agent, the bartender, and many locals who were sooo nice and fun. The bar tab ended up being a little high! 5. I work at a software company and can tell you that your website is great presence and easy to find what you need. Grade A on everything....only complain was that it was cooooooolllllldddd:)

As many of the other guests have said, our total experience here vastly exceeded our expectations, which were already high because of the excellent web site. Before coming we had asked for the best time to come to experience maximum fall color; and then we booked it for those dates (October 15-21). Thanks for that excellent advice. Each day we were there the fall color became more and more spectacular. Everything else, from the setting to decorations to the dishes, was perfect. We will definitely return when we can. My only complaint: there was so much to do and see in the area that we really didn't relsx that much. Oh well. Maybe next time.

What an great place to celebrate a birthday! We loved the cottage from the minute we arrived. The beautiful setting and sound of the water makes you not want to leave to go anywhere. The weather was perfect, and we were able to make a fire every day and night. We had our coffee each morning out on the porch, looking at the waterfall and stream. The owners Jim and Kathy have seen to every detail to make this the perfect mountain getaway. We would definately love to return and stay longer than 5 days and do less running around and more relaxing at the cabin. We miss the peace and quiet; it was hard to leave!! After being deployed with the Army for over 7 months on a combat tour, the time Kim and I had to spend there, relaxing, was wonderful. We hope to be back again in the future.

Our second visit was even nicer than our first -- this is a lovely getaway, very quiet and secluded, in a gorgeous setting and with all the comforts of home (and then some). We're already planning our next visit.

Trout House Falls cabin is a beautiful place. Not only is the setting exquisite, but the cabin itself was decorated with great care and taste and every convenience thought of. Jim also had fabulous trout fishing on the Davidson River in Brevard.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? Trouthouse Falls is one of a kind. My wife and I were married at Table Rock and spent our honeymoon at the cabin. We are both hikers and thoroughly enjoyed the proximity to so many great trails and waterfalls. I was able to spend hours photographing the many falls and streams in and around the cabin. Jim, thanks so much for the advice on fishing and area activities. We will definitely be back!

Although your website is great, even it didn't do Trout House Falls justice! We were so pleasantly surprised when we arrived and quickly made ourselves at home! Next time we come, however, we won't plan as much "running around" and will treat your little oasis less like a hotel and will spend more time just enjoying your property and nearby Brevard. Thanks for making it such a warm and welcoming spot!

My husband, Bob, and I recently had the pleasure of staying at THF for a long weekend. We fell in love with the cabin, its serene surroundings and Brevard. We will definitely be back and hopefully the next time for a week.

I must admit I was a little apprehensive during my first drive up the gravel road, but what a pot of gold awaited us at the end! Isolated and serene, clean and well-maintained, and with all the amenities we could ever require, I certainly enjoyed my recent stay at Trout House Cabin. Hiking and moutaining biking at Dupont State Forest was first rate, the view from Caesars Head should not be missed...in 4 days we were barely able to scratch the surface of things to do in the area. Plus, the satellite TV allowed us to see the UT/Florida game as well. My biggest regret is that we did not bring more food and cook in to allow us more time to spend at this wonderful oasis. Thank you for making our long weekend such a pleasant experience.

Our stay at THF was great. My husband is an avid trout fisherman and was in heaven fishing right off the porch. I enjoyed the cabin with its wonderful furnishings and great kitchen. Reading on the porch was the best especially hearing the waterfalls. Hope we can return. Kaye Hyde, Decatur GA

We spent 5 relaxing days at the cabin. The surroundings and the cabin itself exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed roasting marshmallows around the fire pit, playing in the creek, and rocking on the porch. The temperature at the cabin was always 5-10 degrees cooler than Brevard. The cabin at Trout House Falls is the perfect mountain getaway with all the amenities that you would want. We will definitely be back next summer.
