My wife and I stayed four days at the "Waterfall Cabin". I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed ourselves. It was very clean, everything thing worked properly, and had many great amenities. The property is so peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed the the peacefulness and the ability to get away from the real world for a bit. The owner is very helpful and available if you need him. I would highly recommend this property to stay. I am a very picky person and I was very satisfied. The Town of Brevard is about a half-hour away and has many great dining and activities. We went fly-fishing and had a great time. Asheville is about an hour away and has many more activities and sightseeing tours. It is a great area for a fabulous vacation.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Internet pictures of the stream, waterfall and cabin don't do them justice. Think magazine cover. Enjoyed the cabin's amenities and slept to the sounds of the falls. Tempur-Pedic mattress in the front bedroom is a luxury. Prior to driving out to the cabin, we bought groceries and had Sunday brunch at Hob Nob. Their Bloody Mary is not to be missed. Searching for white squirrels in Brevard helped us tour the town, and a private waterfall tour with Craig Miller was excellent. Thursday night's weekly Mountain Music Jam Session at the Silvermont Mansion is a treat. Jim's website is full of accurate information, and he is a font of knowledge about western North Carolina. It was a wonderful stay, and I recommend it highly.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Everything we were looking for; SECLUDED, Clean, modern amenities, cozy, romantic, peaceful...oh and did I mention the WATERFALL steps from the front porch!!!! Close proximity to many state parks and forests for hiking and waterfall viewing; we hiked to (5) waterfalls in one park alone, amazing place. Brevard is a great little trendy town. One of the reviews I read mentioned to make sure and buy your groceries before arrival as the grocery store is not around the corner, we took that suggestion and were happy we did. We had all we needed and could have spent the entire 5 days on the front porch. Wonderful new Christmas Memory.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Beautiful, idyllic setting. The cabin was comfortable with all the amenities of home. After a day of fishing or hiking, we enjoyed relaxing by the fire most nights. The fall foliage was gorgeous. Restaurants we really liked were Hob Nob, Square Root, Hawg Wild, and coffee at Quotations. Because of the proximity to the waterfall and streams just outside the house, I would hesitate to recommend to families with small children but older children and pre-teens would love it!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The cabin was wonderful and cozy and perfectly appointed. We loved building a fire every night and having the waterfall right by our front door. The trout were not biting but I enjoyed exploring the streams on the property and nearby anyway. We loved the coffee shop in town and all the nice shops. We drove to the Cashiers/Highlands one day and found we liked Brevard much better than either although the drive was beautiful. Jim was great to offer information on the area and fishing. I will definitely try my ability to catch one at another time. Thanks!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

If you are looking for a place to unwind and get away from it all, this is your place. It is secluded with a waterfall right out your front door. Just be sure to buy your groceries before you go, it is quite a drive to town. It is very clean and well equiped. The location is central to the many waterfalls in the Brevard area. Lots of hiking and beautiful scenery.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I'm not sure how to express how pleased we were with this cabin. Everything about it was as close to perfect as is possible. The cabin consists of two bedrooms and a giant kitchen/dining room/living room area with a 20' or more vaulted ceiling. It is very roomy. I enjoy cooking, so having a big kitchen is important to me. This cabin delivered that. When you come, bring a frying pan. All of the other kitchen supplies are great. You don't need to bring anything else. The waterfall is about 30 feet from the house. It's quite pretty, but I liked it most because the sound of waterfalls puts me to sleep like nothing else. Make sure and bring an alarm clock. That's not a joke. You'll get the best sleep of your life, but without an alarm clock you'll miss most of the morning sleeping to that wonderful sound. When you reserve this cabin, make sure and ask the owner to help you get the waterfall tour guide named Craig Miller. He's extremely inexpensive and will take you to some of the prettiest waterfalls that no one else seems to know about. It's a half-day excursion and was the best part of the trip. These are the amenities I enjoyed most: - Great front porch with swinging chair to sit in while we listen to the waterfall - Fireplace w/wood pile - Gigantic washing machine - the kitchen - wifi + nice TV Lastly, the owner seems to be an extremely nice person. He makes renting the place easy, and was happy (or at least he didn't get angry) with me asking tons of questions about the place. I cannot recommend this place strongly enough. I don't think I've been able to say that about any other vacation rental.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing.

If only one could hear the waterfall online! It is truly a piece of carved out wonderful among the tall pines and the rushing water. The house is beautiful and the beds wonderful. Jim you are quite the travel advisor and have so many insider places for your guests to see. Our best thing was the personal tour of about 8 waterfalls that we took with your friend. The tourist bureau was so helpful and the people there gave us so many tips. Brevard is a beautiful town and the weather in August while we were there was unbelieveable coming from 102 in Texas!. We will plan a visit next October to see the leaves, save us a place!.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This was a dream cabin for me that I first noticed a few years ago on craigslist. As a lover of mountain streams and waterfalls, I wanted to experience what it was like to live and sleep to the melody of a gushing stream. My 13-year old son and I finally visited in August and it was purely magical. From the storybook look of the cabin to the large mossy rocks, sounds of the water, and large porch. The interior was beautifully decorated and comfortable. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and had everything that we needed for a comfortable stay. My son enjoyed the flat screen, channel line-up, and WIFI! We couldn't get cell phone service but there is a landline in the cabin. There was great water pressure. I loved leaving the porch door open to let in the sounds of the water while we were snug as a bug inside. We also enjoyed the two black labs that escorted us past the farm as we came and went from the cabin. While there, we made tracks back and forth to Pisgah Forest to fish the Davidson River and take the plunge at Sliding Rock. Jim: We caught two big rainbow trout in the Davidson River! Jim and his wife were truly helpful in making sure that we had an enjoyable stay and helping us find the cabin. I would love to come back again when the leaves are in full color!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Waterfall Cabin was absolutely lovely!! The setting was pristine and peaceful. My children loved to hike in the stream and waterfall. The cabin itself was clean and very tastefully decorated, down to the very last detail! We would recommend this to a friend. We would love to come back! We would recommend hiking in the Pisgah National Forest and Dupont State Park. We were slightly disappointed with the local restaurants, but learned that it was best to stay in and prepare meals in the lovely kitchen!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Met friends from Virginia and North Carolina for fly fishing in the area. Wonderful place with the sound of the waterfall to send us to sleep after a good day on the Davidson River. Very secluded. Reminded me of some of the places I had camped in North Eastern Tennessee fishing for brook trout as a twenty year old. I am anxious to get back and see what it looks like in the fall.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I was truly impressed with the Waterfall Cabin. It was everything that the owner claimed it would be and much much more. It was secluded with a beautiful stream running (or rushing after heavy rain) down the mountain. My young children enjoyed "fishing" for minnows, swimming, etc. in the stream. My husband and I joined in the fun or just enjoyed a glass of wine while lounging on one of the big rocks streamside. We enjoyed hiking, grilling out at the property, eating lunch in downtown Brevard (Square Root Cafe was wonderful!), and simply enjoying the scenary at the cabin. The house was immaculately cleaned, supplied with more than enough linens, housewares, firewood, etc. The owner was extremely helpful in planning our trip and was very kind. I knew after talking with him that we would have an excellent VRBO rental experience. You can not go wrong with this cabin if you are looking for a little bit of heaven. I am 100% sure I will rent this cabin again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My fiancee and I LOVED this little cabin by the stream. It was a perfect home base for the many adventures we enjoyed around Brevard: trout fishing, waterfall tours and hiking, pottery row, etc. We were so glad to have a real fireplace and great kitchen to cook in. And at the end of the day the memory foam mattress was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on away from home. My wife and I were lucky enough to spend a long weekend at the cabin by the falls and it was the most peaceful time I have had in many years. The cabin is cozy and comfortable with excellent sleeping accomodations. The wood pile was fully stocked for our evening fires and the sound of the waterfall outside the bedroom window was so soothing to the mind and spirit. We chose to relax and take advantage of the fact we were away from the everyday rush and constant cellphone calls. There was plenty of hiking trails, and we were even luck enough to see a big black bear cross the road right in front of our car (about 10 miles from the cabin thankfully!). It was an awesum site as he stared at us from just inside the woods edge as we very slowly passed by him. We would recommend this to anyone who's looking to have a secluded escape. Very relaxing...We will returnRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I and our two boys age 8 and 11 stayed here recently and had the best time. The kids enjoyed exploring the stream and jumping in the small swimming hole which is crystal clear and filled with very cold mountain spring water. The house is right on the babbling stream and you can relax listening to the sounds of the stream while drinking your coffee on the front porch in the morning. This two bedroom home is the perfect size for a cozy family getaway. I also highly recommend Miller's Waterfall tour as a way to really get to know the area. Brevard is a close 20 minute drive and is a great place to shop, dine or sightsee.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I loved this cabin. It was exactly what it was advertised to be. And exactly what we were looking for. A beautiful secluded cabin with gorgeous surroundings. We enjoyed it so much that we extended our visit a day and just stayed at the cabin. The waterfall makes this property so special. It is so relaxing to just sit on the porch and listen to the falls. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away and just relax and enjoy the outdoors. The other waterfalls in the area are stunning. We went in April after a few days of rain so they were especially beautiful. Miller's Waterfall Tours are worth the money. The Biltmore Mansion in the spring is so pretty with all the spring flowers in bloom. It is a great way to see part of North Carolina and the surrounding mountains.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our week at the Waterfall House was a very peaceful vacation for us. The setting is absolutely beautiful. We hiked and photographed all over the Brevard/Pisgah/Caesar's Head areas while the foliage changed colors around us. I just printed our photographs and I'm amazed at the beauty of the area. The waterfall cabin was exactly as you described it-very cozy and comfortable. We originally intended to sample many of the local restaurants, but the cabin was where we were most comfortable, so we cooked simple meals and just let the beauty, peace and spirituality of the cabin and the falls to restore us. We spent a day with Craig Miller on his Waterfall Tour, where most of my really beautiful photos were taken. Craig is very knowledgeable about local restaurants and fruit stands, so we were fortunate to make his acquaintance. I recommend the Waterfall Cabin land have already told several of my colleagues about our vacation. Lovely cabin, secluded location, nicely appointed interior, loved the stone fireplace and front porch that has a view of a small waterfall on the creek that runs thru the property. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals. Only let down was...for the price, my expectation would be a later checkout time, you really lose the entire last day. Also the cleaning lady came and stayed on the front porch an hour and a half before the check out time! Very uncomfortable situation.... In addition, it was a bit aggravating not to have amenities like hand soap etc in both the kitchen and bath....Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway.

It was hard to leave the porch with the tranquil setting but the house was indeed well equiped with anything that was needed for cooking and entertainment. we were very concerned in the beginning UNTIL we drove up to the cabin. The Cabin, View, Atmosphere and Sereninty was so much more than explained to us and the website. As the days went by, we hiked up the streams and the trails and become one with GOD. Only he could have made this Garden of Eden. There was several days we had plans that we cancelled because we had all we needed right where we was. This place could only have been made by the hand of GOD. I would HIGHLY recommened this place to anyone. I have spoke with strangers on the way back and at the office, and our friends about the experience of living in Heaven. This, as we can imagine, is the closest we could be to Heaven as we could get.We will be there again next year right about the same date. We stayed there from 7-24-10 thru 7-30-10. We WILL be there again next summer without fail. When I discovered Trout House Falls on the internet, I was immediately taken by the beauty of the cabin and the waterfall. Looking for a few days of relaxation away from it all, my husband and I decided this looked like the place for us. We were not disappointed! The cabin was spacious but cozy with a stone fireplace. The kitchen was well equipped to cook all the trout you caught from the nearby stream, just steps from the front porch. It was relaxing to sit out there in the rocking chairs and listen to the waterfall. We had such a positive experience booking our reservation. The owner was very friendly and accomodating. Our family of four just spent 7 nights at The Waterfall Cabin & we wanted to stay a month! It was beautiful, peaceful and serene. The temperature where the cabin is located was a constant & cool temperature that was just perfect. Our daughters had so much fun looking for crawdads & salamanders in the creek, & the waterfall sights & sounds were so relaxing. The town of Brevard was an unexpected plus! It was so much fun to walk around & we did quite a bit of shopping. We bought some excellent bread at the bakery down there & had a good meal & beer at Dugan's Irish Pub. We saw 6 or 7 white squirrels on the college campus & they were adorable & friendly. Remember to take some raw nuts for them! :) Pisgah National Forest was GREAT. I just loved The Cradle of Forestry, & the fish hatchery was so neat. Sliding rock there was a BLAST!! We found out that you can go there when they are CLOSED (after 6pm) & there was NO LINE!!! Our girls had a BALL! It is "slide at your own risk" then as there is no lifeguard, but it was quite safe. Try to wear denim shorts as our cotton shorts got holes in them from sliding. Sliding rock was ALOT of fun. :) Asheville is only 45 mins and well worth the trip. We also did the 4 hour guided waterfall tour with Craig Miller & it was fantastic. Beautiful waterfalls & he is a friendly & fun guide. We will be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I loved being at the "Water Fall Cabin" in November, 2009. What a wonderul experience and beautiful place. We enjoyed being right next to the rushing water and the precious stream. What a piece of "Heaven". We can't wait to come back and rent both houses for the entire family. I feel like we have finally found the place we have been looking for. Thanks Jim for such a lovely vacation spot!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Serenity found!! The sound of rushing water, the fresh smell of mountain air, and the feeling of a world all your own hardly describes the Waterfall Cabin. If you seek an escape from the daily grind, to snuggle up by the fire with the one you love, or just getaway to enjoy the incredible hikes and waterfalls of the surrounding area, Trouthouse Falls will not disappoint. More than comfortable, rustic and modern rolled into one, this home is truly one of a kind. Great variety of fly fishing experiences in a short distance, wildlife abounds. Having adventured around the world, one of the best places we have EVER stayed! Thanks for a great adventure! We loved our week among the fall leaves in the Trout Falls Cabin. The leaves were turning as we watched and very beautiful along with our rushing mountain stream and the waterfalls. The cabin was furnished with everything that we needed and it was great to have a dry supply of firewood since some rain fell but we were able to enjoy a fire each evening. A cozy cabin for reading and working a jigsaw puzzle together. Liked being at the end of the road so very private. The gravel road will need some help as we hit bottom with our car in several places but that was the only negative during our entire week. Enjoyed a matinee at the local theater and Irish coffee at the Irish pub of Dugan's on one of our rainy afternoons.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Our family had a great time. As a flyfisherman. . I enjoyed the proximity to some really excellent trout streams. As a parent and a husband I had an relaxing time with family. The house is very well appointed and decorated. No detail is missing. . . we just didn't understand why the house had a television....Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

What an extraordinary location! The cabin is beautiful and the waterfall was simply marvelous. We didn’t feel the need to hike miles away when we had our own waterfall right there! We had a peaceful and relaxing week. This area is motorcycle heaven and the antique shopping in Brevard was outstanding! What a lovely town! NC restaurants are all non-smoking, which was a delight as Virginia has yet to come to it's senses. We hope to return and enjoy this beautiful place again someday!Did you find this review helpful? Our family spent a week at the Waterfall Cabin in June and wished our stay could have been longer! The cabin was cozy and well stocked, perfect for our family and the setting by the stream and waterfall was just beautiful. We felt right at home and enjoyed spending the week exploring all the waterfalls in the area, hiking, rafting and shopping in Brevard. Thanks for a wonderful vacation, we will be back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My husband and I stayed at the waterfall cabin the 2nd of July thru 5th of July. It was our 30th wedding anniversary. It was exactly the way we had pictured it and it was the best weekend of our lives. We both said we want to come back again for a longer visit next time.Did you find this review helpful? We stayed at the Waterfall Cabin during a June trip to go rock climbing in Brevard and the Linville Gorge. The cabin is in a wonderful location just far enough outside of town to make you feel like you are in another world. The sounds of the waterfall were glorious, and the house itself was beautiful. Last year, we stayed at the Riverfront Fishing Cottage, another of the owner's properties, and it was equally wonderful. Poppies is a must for food, dont miss the white squirrels in town, and, if you need a climbing guide, Fox Mountain Guides is the best in the Southeast. Oh, and be sure to go to O.P. Taylors if you have kids--it's a good old-fashioned toy store that our kids beg to visit every time we're up there. We'll definitely be back and will stay at one of the Trout House Falls' properties again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our family of three stayed the week before Easter at the cabin. We had a wonderful time. The location of the property is perfect - nestled down on a flat patch of land between hills on a stream. It was comfortable, clean, and relaxing. We used the fireplace every day, saw wild turkeys, racoons, birds, deer nearby, but no trout. Hopefully no previous guests poached the stream. We will definitely be back. We shopped at Poppies in Brevard - great - on the way to Looking glass falls. We did gem mining in Franklin (Mason's mine) and found almost 30 carats of sapphires. We had great family fun and even fluffy towels. Thanks.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Wildly exceeded our expectations. A friend of mine had a deposit on this house and could not go. My girlfriend and I took the reservation at a discount from my friend. WOW. Here are a few comments: 1. The locals even made comments at how nice the cabin was...nothing was missing. We even played monopoly which was provided! 2. The recommended Whitewater horse tours and Craig the waterfall guy was great! They both knew the area well. Craig is recommended! He was fun to hang out with during the day and has access to the most obsure waterfalls. 3. Definitely go into Brevard downtown. Great stores like Hunters and Gatherers. We bought so much there. 4. If you are into the cozying up with the locals for a drink go to Dugans. We went there to play trivia on the bar video game and the entire bar got involved. There was a local irishman there who bought us shots and we hung out with a lawyer, real estate agent, the bartender, and many locals who were sooo nice and fun. The bar tab ended up being a little high! 5. I work at a software company and can tell you that your website is great presence and easy to find what you need. Grade A on everything....only complain was that it was cooooooolllllldddd:)Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

As many of the other guests have said, our total experience here vastly exceeded our expectations, which were already high because of the excellent web site. Before coming we had asked for the best time to come to experience maximum fall color; and then we booked it for those dates (October 15-21). Thanks for that excellent advice. Each day we were there the fall color became more and more spectacular. Everything else, from the setting to decorations to the dishes, was perfect. We will definitely return when we can. My only complaint: there was so much to do and see in the area that we really didn't relsx that much. Oh well. Maybe next time.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
