My family, -- three kids and one dog -- spent a week in the Brookside Cabin last summer and are now planning our visit this summer. The cabin is perfectly designed for a family vacation with a master bedroom on the main floor and two more on the other floor where the boys had their own room and my daughter had hers as well. There is a great deck with beautiful views of the surrounding forests where my husband and I could enjoy morning coffee. The cabin itself was very clean with comfortable mattresses and furnished with an eclectic variety of antiques and nick knacks. I loved reading the old Life and Look magazines. The television reception was not that great but there is good wi-fi reception and there were lots of DVDs for the kids. There is an outdoor fire place where we spent several nights star gazing and, yes, roasting marshmallows. There are numerous hiking trails right outside the back door and the roads were quiet which made for great bicycling. My husband even did some trout fishing in the nearby brook. Overall it is a excellent place for a family vacation and you can bring your dog along to enjoy the fun!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hi Frank and Santa, Thanks for the reply and your kind review of the Brookside Cabin. Look forward to seeing you all again this summer -- maybe Frank will have better luck fishing this time. Best Regards, Kevin and Theresa

The setting and the ambiance of the cabin enabled us to truly relax. The night skies were exquisitely beautiful. The kitchen needed a great deal of cleaning before we could truly settle into vacation mode, however. Two trips into Conway for cleaning supplies were necessary. The interior of the oven was so encrusted that meals had to be grilled outside until we successfully cleared away cooked-on food. Bathrooms were pristine, and the general environment was fine. It was the lack of attention to the kitchen/dining area that presented the challenge. We would recommend the property, with qualifications...expect to clean up after earlier guests. It was delightful to have a pet friendly site; our Scottish Terrier loved every minute of this holiday. The fact that we were within driving distance of Mt. Washington, the Basin, the White Mountains was wonderful.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Dear Tom and Susan, Thank you for taking the time to submit a review of our Brookside Cabin and glad you enjoyed your stay. We were, however, shocked and dismayed over your comments regarding the cleanliness of our kitchen and particulary our range. Past and future guests DID not and WILL not have to clean up after earlier guests as you aledge. We do not charge cleaning fees since we do not trust anyone else to meet our standards of cleanliness. The refrigerator, counters, sink, floor, microwave and range top are all throughouly cleaned and disinfected after EVERY visit and the oven inspected. While our range does not sparkle like new (and what well-used oven does?) it is NEVER left in an encrusted state. With sometimes only 3 - 4 hours between a guest departure and new arrival, there could have been oven residues that escaped our notice. You never mentioned anything to us and wish you had so WE could have addressed your issues. Whatever the case, we regret you had to spend any vacation time cleaning and thank you for bringing any oversights to our attention. We can assure future guests they will not have to do the same. We will be forwarding a check in the amount of $20 to cover any costs incurrred. Kevin and Theresa Early

We just spent an entire week at the cabin and had a wonderful time. It's a very cozy and comfortable cabin with easy access to North Conway (25 min drive) and the mountains. The trails behind the house were perfect for doggie walking and the house slept 8 very comfortably! We'd definitely rent again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hi Dasha, Thank you for your kind comments. Glad you enjoyed yourselves. Look forward to having you and your friends as our guests again. Best Regards, Kevin and Theresa Early PS -- Thank you for the bottle of champagne

We nestled at this lovely home for a week after our family had been separated on three continents and not been together for 16 months. It was a perfect place to reunite, relax and enjoy the outdoors. We loved the design and whimsy of the cabin (the pictures do not reveal how comfortable and fun the cabin is-- complete with a 1950's bicycle on an overhead shelf). You will love it!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

To clarify, the master bedroom upstairs had an AC window unit which we appreciated and used. The downstairs did not have one but was not needed. Also to clarify, the back deck had a picnic type table that we used and ate at.Recommended for: Families with young children

My wife, and 2 elementary schoolers from Florida rented cabin for 6 days. Cabin is much nicer than photos seem to show. Mattresses very comfortable and bedrooms and bathrooms very clean and very nice. We have rented bunches of houses and often mattresses are awful. These were very good and we were all comfortable. 8 year old girl and 6 year old boy loved the place. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Was about 20 minutes from North Conway which was no trouble and we liked the quietness of the cabin and the area We also liked the firepit in the back (we did the campfire thing) and the working grill and deck on the back porch which we used. The log cabin was very cool. Much different than Florida house. New washer and dryer were very nice and appreciated. To be nitpicky but honest, as i would want reviewers to do for me, there is no dishwasher. Getting nitpicky because it was no big deal and we bought paper cups. AC unit in master bedroom upstairs was needed on some hot days we had. Downstairs was cool without AC except for one really unusually warm night. The tap water tasted great. I rated the place excellent because the place was nicer than the photos, was completely comfortable and functional, and everyone on our trip liked the place. Also the owners were very nice and we had an excellent vacation.Recommended for: Families with young children

The log cabin is like 'home'... warm, inviting, clean, well-designed, tastefully 'log-cabin' decorated with charming surprises, here and there.... all, which provides an atmosphere of 'comfort' ... that encourages an, almost, guaranteed, fun mountain-stay. If not, the fault is not that of 'the cabin'. Questions and/or help was, pleasantly, provided when needed.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I booked this cabin for the last weekend in Oct. So although a lot of the leaves were gone it still was beautiful. Very cozy and very clean. We even met the owners and spent Sun. night with them at the local music venue. Their a very charming couple and made us feel right at home. It really was the perfect place to spend either a long weekend or a week or so. Looking forward to going up again sometime next year......Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

If you enjoy peace and quiet and lot's of stars at night this place will make you happy. The cabin is very comfortable , cozy and very clean. We arrived late evening after a rain storm and traffic to a wonderful welcome. Lights were on in the cabin the temperature inside was perfect and well it was a nice place to land after a long day of travel. Kevin was very accommodating and always available for questions to be answered as to where to go and how to get there . Yes, I would recommend this property to a friend or relative. The cabin is much more wonderful and uniquely decorated then the photos shown. Loved the old "Life" Magazines... Not to far were some local farms . We were able to get fresh organic produce, etc. The White Mountains , which are very close had some wonderful hiking trails. There were even some trails my 80 year old mother was able to enjoy. Not too far is the town of Conway/N Conway which had plenty of stores to shop for groceries, etc. Yes by all means go to this cabin and enjoy!Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

A short drive from the Conway gateway to the white mountains, this cabin served us great. It is surrounded by nature, and has a very nice personal touch to it. The kitchen area is well maintained and has (almost) everything you would need to prepare nice dinners after a long hiking day. Both Theresa and Kevin are very kind and friendly and altogether the cabin is very reccomended. The only thing to consider is that there is no cellular reception in the cabin and currently no wireless, but I think they plan on installing WI FI soon.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Dear Kevin and Theresa, My husband and I just returned from our first-time stay in the Brookside cabin. It was our first vacation in over 4 years and it was just what we both needed. The cabin is lovely and very comfortable, we cooked in most of our meals and found everything we needed to do so. The gas grill and deck were a welcome surprise and we made the most of it as did out two golden retrievers. Your land surrounding the property with a myriad of trails and the brook were perfect for exploring and I did so for hours. The corn from your garden and Theresa's magic massages were the best. We have already booked a week for next summer and hope to come for a long weekend this winter to snowshoe and ski. Thank you both for your wonderful hospitality and I will recommend your Inn to everyone I know.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I went up to this cabin with my girlfriend, my brother and his girlfriend and our dogs. It was one of the most relaxing vacations I have been on in quite some time. The cabin is isolated with woods surrounding the property and is very quite and very dark at night which makes for fantastic star gazing. Inside we had a full kitchen which saves on money not having to eat out everyday/night. We loved the cathedral ceilings, the pine planked walls and the rustic decor. You can even enjoy outdoor meals on the porch off the back of the cabin with a picnic table and grill. It was great to come back to the cabin each evening after kayaking, mountain biking and hiking to relax in the cozy atmosphere. I recommend this cabin getaway to anyone who enjoys the tranquil peace and quiet in the woods. Theresa & Kevin (the owners) are very nice and make you feel at home. Thank you Theresa & Kevin !! We'll be back soon !!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful time at the cabin! The online pictures do not do it justice! It was clean, comfortable, and more than we had hoped for. The property itself was magnificent! There were hiking trails that our whole family enjoyed. It was the perfect combination of nature and comfort! The owners were wonderful and made sure that we had everything that we needed. The cabin's location was absolutely perfect for what we wanted. It was app. 15 min to N. Conway and app. an hour from Maine's shoreline. It as the perfect blend between mountains and ocean. We look forward to coming back in the future.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
