Spacious Pool Home in Sugarmill Woods, Near Gulf Coast
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Our home is in the woodland green belt of Sugarmill Woods which is an unspoilt tranquil Florida paradise located close to the Gulf Coast near the small town of Homosassa Springs. The villa, which is some 2,300 sq ft, has plenty of room to accommodate guests. The property is set in woodland and does not have any direct neighbors as the adjacent lots are both vacant. There is also woodland to the rear of the villa which is south facing and maximizes the amount of sun during the day on the fully screened 28’x15’ solar heated pool and surrounding decking. A large covered lanai ensures ample shade is also available at all times. The villa is located in a quiet area.
The master bedroom has a queen-size bed and there is a large en-suite bathroom with a Jacuzzi jetted bath tub, walk-in shower and a double vanity unit; there is also a walk-in closet. There are two other bedrooms, each with twin beds and ample closet space, and they share a 2nd bathroom which has a bath/overhead shower, toilet and vanity unit.
The large Florida room has HBO cable 3D HDTV, a three seat sofa, a two seat love sofa and two single armchairs. The study/den has a queen-size sofa bed, WiFi internet, a table with desk lamp, and an entertainment unit; all bedrooms and the study/den have cable TVs. The kitchen is fully fitted and equipped and there is an adjoining breakfast area with table and chairs for 6. There is a separate dining area, also with a table and 6 chairs, for more formal eating. The utility room has a washer, dryer and a large sink. All linen and towels (including beach towels) are provided.
The Florida room, master bedroom and breakfast area have sliding patio doors to access the lanai. The lanai has ample pool furniture, including a large table for outside dining, and there are two ceiling fans and a separate washroom. A gas barbecue/grill is also provided.
There are numerous quality golf courses within a short driving distance. The attractions in Orlando are some 2 hours away and Tampa can be reached in an hour. There are wildlife parks and nature reserves within a short drive and the local beach at Fort Island, which is 30 minutes away, has barbecue/grill facilities and a fishing pier. Picnic cooler bags and a beach umbrella are provided for days out. An extensive range of information is provided about the surrounding area and areas wider afield.
The minimum rental period is two weeks and is due to the local homeowners association's deed restrictions. Shorter rental periods cannot be accepted.

We first rented this villa in November 2010 but were unable to book early enough last year and had to stay elsewhere. On our return in 2012 we found it was again everything we could wish for. It is so well maintained that you would not know 2 years had passed. All the equipment, furnishings and decor are still in tip top condition thus making our stay very comfortable. As usual we have used Sugarmill Woods as a base for lots of golf, including Southern Woods, a mere 5 minutes drive away, which is now open to the public. At Linda Pederson Park just south of Weekiwachee, we came the closest to a manatee one could be without swimming. We could have reached out and touched it. Overall this holiday home is just superb both as a comfortable, quiet, private spot to spend time relaxing or as a base for activities further afield.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

Well, where do we start?!! This was the most fantastic villa! We try to come to Florida every year, and have stayed in different villas each time, but can honestly say that this was by far the best we've stayed in! It was exceptionally clean, well cared for, private, extremely well eqipped and very homely. The carpeted lanai was lovely, and the speakers in the ceiling of the lanai were a perfect touch when eating outside - courtesy of the fantastic barbecue! There was every utensil you could possible need in the kitchen, and the little den (Florida room) was a lovely touch, with lots of books and guides. The master bedroom was superb, and very spacious with a gorgeous en-suite bathroom and the most comfortable bed! The whole villa was exceptionally spacious and very light and airy. We loved the thick carpet that your feet just sank into, and the lift-ip top on the coffee table was great! The area itself was very quiet and peaceful, and yet just five minutes drive to the nearest supermarket, as well as the main highway which takes you to all the beaches etc. Sue and Allen couldn't have been more helpful, and we're very grateful they let us stay in their lovely home. We'll definitely be back!!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers.

Couldn't have picked a nicer place, we were fortunate to have an unusually warm winter so we were told, and got to use the pool a lot. The house was spotless and full of pool toys, dvd's, books tv's and fans in every room, was the most relaxing three months ever. The owner's couldn't have been nicer!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, people with disabilities, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children.

Over recent years we've rented quite a few properties on Sugarmill Woods and they have all been comfortable, well equipped and maintained. This villa however stands out as exceptional in terms of the things that are important to us. Firstly it is very private, being on a large plot - set well back from the road, and screened by woodlands to the rear and sides. Secondly the interior decor and furnishings accentuate an ambience of light airy spaciousness - very relaxing. And finally it's extremely well equipped with quality linen, crockery , cutlery, and glassware (and plastic ware for the pool area). The owners notes and guidelines are very clear, comprehensive, and well presented. We've had a superb month in the villa - played lots of golf on interesting (and inexpensive) courses, and consumed prodigious quantities of great seafood. The weather was stunning - only one wet day! We will do our best to be back next year.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

If you love golf this is the place for you. Very spacious, very quiet, very roomy, and very private. Pool is terrific and the house is laid out perfectly for guests. Don't come to this part of Florida and expect great beaches, this is "Nature's Coast" and beaches are virtually nonexistant. But is you like to play golf there are many great courses, some world class, at reasonable rates. We'll be back next year for our fourth time!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children.

Why the Owner Chose Homosassa:
We looked at numerous areas in Florida and were immediately attracted to Sugarmill Woods as it is spacious, quiet and well laid out with its meandering roads, unlike any other area we had visited. Due to its woodland setting we felt we would be able to relax and fully unwind which has been the case. We chose the property because it had no immediate neighbors. The rear garden is south facing.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
We have tried to furnish the property so it feels like home from home, a view expressed by long term renters. We find it easy to relax by the pool or, when very hot, under the covered lanai with its ceiling fans.
