Staying at Benton's Pleasure was awesome!! I spent many hours just watching whatever was happening on the river, watching the gloriousw sunsets and was even treated to seeing the GoodYear blimp float by!! Our family was very comfortable, able to relax and have one of the best week's of our lives. We had everything we needed, felt welcomed and accomodated. Thanks Harry for your warm & genuine hospitality, we are very grateful!!! We will definitely return. The description in the listing was accurate and the photos reflected the house appearance and amenities. The condition of the property was well maintained and lovingly cared for, with lots of little extra touches. Harry was kind, friendly and very genuine in answering my questions. We did recommend the house to friends and family because of all of the attractions close to the property.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

This home was exactly as advertised. Our family of two parents, three adult kids, one 11 year old and one grandfather fit beautifully. The accommodations were spotless. This is not a modern or fancy home, but a lovingly maintained family home with plenty of room for both privacy and the whole group to gather. The kitchen was way more than adequate for the cooking we needed to do, which tended toward cheese platters and morning coffee, and it, in addition to the dining room, accommodated all of us. The bedroom situation is thus: two nice sized bedrooms (one with two twin beds and the other with a queen or double) were on one side of the house along with one bathroom. The fold-out couch in a room adjacent to the living room was fine for twenty year olds, but was not entirely separate from the living room and had a window and a door open to the living room. Not a problem for us, but nice to know. The master bedroom/bath was spacious and on the other side of the house, providing significant privacy. THE PLACE TO BE was outside at sunset. What a show! Astoundingly beautiful sunsets most nights. Do bring your Off! mosquito repellant, but the changing view is absolutely worth a few mosquito bites. We used the house as our home base for day trips to Easton, St. Michaels, Tilghman Island, Annapolis and Baltimore, and although we faced a couple of traffic snarl-ups, in general, we felt the location was quite convenient. Harry and Scott the owners are very pleasant and fastidious homeowners. I hope we'll be back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The house is as depicted as comfortable and homey. It was very clean and well maintained and there were many amenities provided to make our stay comfortable. The owner was very helpful and had notes everywhere to facilitate our use of his home. I would certainly recommend this property and will stay there again. The only suggestion I would make would be the replacement of the mattresses in the second bedroom. We had a family gathering and everyone found the accommodations to be most comfortable.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Want to get a taste of what it is like to live on Kent Island? This is the house. It’s located in an upscale neighborhood but manages to retain the charm of its original owners. As you drive down the tree lined driveway towards the house, the bay becomes visible along with the private dock. When you are ushered through the front door, your eye is drawn to all the little historical details of the house such as the interior Dutch door, the brick fireplace in the library and the built-in corner cabinet in the kitchen. Once you’ve taken in the spotless appearance (spotless means no evidence of previous guests), you will marvel at the décor. Not your ordinary rental fare. The kitchen is well equipped with just about anything you might need to stir up a casual dinner of crabs to a full course meal with a better than picnic presentation. The bedrooms are located at either end of the house allowing for a private master bedroom/ bath combination. The central air conditioning worked beautifully in 95 degree temperatures. The house is situated in a rural setting but within reach of the local stores. Kent Island has a charm of its own. You become an islander while shopping for supplies or dining in the restaurants. Souvenir shops were not around every corner. Remnants of century old historical sites are within a short drive as well as the public beach in the park. The locals are more than willing to give you tips on what to see and where to eat. Major site seeing destinations, such as the Annapolis Naval Academy’s new museum are just a short drive over the Bay Bridge and a day at Saint Michaels is just a drive southward. For one short week, our family enjoyed the hospitality of the Sander family, kayaked in the bay, crabbed off the dock, enjoyed site seeing, went for evening walks in the neighborhood and relaxed……………..Did you find this review helpful? We stayed in the property over the last week of July and found it to be quite relaxing. While the weather was quite warm, it was not too bad for most of the trip and we spent a great deal of time in the water. My kids insisted on putting out the crab traps and we caught enough for a great dinner our last night. There are plenty of great restaurants close by, and the location is very convienent to both the Annapolis area, and Easton and St. Michaels on the Eastern Shore. One note of information.....The primary way to get to the house is across the Bay Bridge. During the weekend, the traffic going to the Eastern Shore can back up pretty badly. If your schedule will allow it, try to go across sometime late in the day. The last thing we said as we left was..."I wonder what this place is like in the fall." Hopefully we will return and find out.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Quality, spacious vacation home property with excellent amenities, beautifully maintained grounds (3 acres) and outstanding location on Kent Island provided recent Memorial Day weekend experience that will long be remembered. Everything described was provided and delivered as promised. Property delighted our family members-- who ranged in age from 3 years old to 80+ -- with rooms for everyone to spread out, shared meals on enclosed sun deck with sweeping views of the water and sunsets, we fished and crabbed from the private pier and along the shore. We trekked to nearly local restaurants in Kent Narrows, found time to sight see in nearby historic Cambridge, Annapolis and Baltimore Harbor, Returned to this lovely home--more like a tranquil, peaceful oasis--to be refreshed and rejuvenated. Owners were extremely knowledgeable of the area, took great care to respond to our initial queries when booking and then provided even more professional, courteous and helpful support upon arrival, We hated to leave and can't wait to return.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I recently spent four days on Kent Island with my three daughters. We all had a lovely time in this charming, very well maintained house. Beautiful sunsets, croquet on the lawn, breakfast in the sun porch and fishing off the dock were a few of the activities that we enjoyed. I would recommend this lovely home for anyone. The process of renting the home was quite easy and Mr. Sanders was there to meet us when we arrived. The entire Sanders family were most gracious and exceptionally easy to deal with.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We spent 4 days at this place. It was a nice little family get together. The house is amazing. Everything is exactly the way it has been described. Everything is provided for and very well planned with the anticipation of all the possible needs of the guest. We spent most of the time sitting in the porch watching the water. The sunsets are the best. The best part of all is that the Sanders were very communicative from the start. Everything was very upfront and clear. I received my deposit back within 10 days as promised.Recommended for: Families with young children

My husband and I spent a week with our 4 adult children in this beautiful "cottage." There was wonderful space for all of us to spread out and relax, the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare terrific meals and cook the crabs that we caught off of the dock. We watched a gorgeous sunset each evening, had a croquet touranament going on every night until dark, played board games until bedtime and never once turned on the televsion set. It was a true getaway week and we were all refreshed, and renewed. We hope to make this an annual event. Sunsets that restored your faith that there is a God. Several violent storms coming in over the water; lighting displays that were better than any fireworks display. Setting a trotline as the the sun was rising; catching a bushel of crabs; enjoying with family and friends. Connecting with my 14 year old son catching striped bass. Having the time and setting to connect with all my family members on different levels. Everyone, from my 76 year old mother to my 6 year old daughter, enjoyed themself. Already talking about doing it again next year.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We hope to visit in the future.Recommended for: Families with teenagers

Just back from a great week on Kent Island. Wonderful home, amenities just as described, gracious hosts, peaceful setting, and fresh blue crabs just off dock. Very clean, truly a guest house. Brand new appliances. Deposit returned promptly and in full. Our kids had loads of fun swimming and canoeing and airplane flying. Laurie and I loved the kitchen and the sun room and the library and the patio. Gourmet Safeway just a bit up the road, with a fresh produce stand across the street (and several others near by as well). It really is the Land of Pleasant Living!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This place was perfect for two families with small children. The house has everything we needed, we played croquet on the vast lawn, took the kids out in the canoes, and ran around. An hour's drive to DC to visit everything it has to offer. Harry and Scott were extremely responsive and easy to work with. We will definitely come back if we're ever in the area again!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I stayed at the property Labor Day weekend, and it was just as advertised -- beautiful view and a very well cared for home. We cooked in every night using the grill and well-equipped kitchen (all of the things you guess (usually wrong) about are there -- tin foil, saran, dishwasher soap, etc.). The house is good for privacy as well if you're with a group. The master suite is on one end of the house, and the "guest" bedrooms and bath are on the other. With no steps indoors and a very helpful owner who set up a crib, we had no trouble minding a fifteen-month-old for part of the time. There is a lovely sunroom you'll want to spend time in at the back of the house. The weekend was relaxing, the house comfortable, and activities are very nearby without intruding on the quiet setting of this property.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We were very happy to find a place like this for a family vacation. The grand children ages 15, 12 and 10 had a great time playing all the board games, fishing and crabbing. They were content and enjoyed the time they spent asking if we would rent the place again so they could come back. It is such an elegant home and view. When my friends would stop by to take a look at the property they were very impressed and wanted to know how we found a place as nice as this one. The house was immaculate and everything so organized to make our vacation great. The owners were very helpful and Harry made us feel at home as he showed us around and told us about the area. We all enjoyed the welcome snack basket left by Harry’s wife. Awesome, and as the Grand Kids said (Cool)! There was also a boat slip there that we used for my 19 ft. boat and a ramp very near the property.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

When our son decided to get married on Kent Island, we checked into hotels as well as home rentals on the island. In retrospect, having seen the "touristy" Kent Island hotel area, we certainly made the right decision by renting a house, especially this one! Although the pictures on the website provide a good idea of the house and surroundings, they really can't fully do it justice. Unlike many other vacation rentals, this house has the feeling of a home, with lots of decorating touches throughout. It also has everything in the way of equipment that you could possibly need during your stay. It is clean and very well cared for. When other members of our wedding party stopped by for occasional visits, they couldn't stop "oohing" and "aahing" over it! It is a spacious home with enough rooms to provide enough privacy even for the individual members of a larger group. The focal point is the sunroom where we spent most of our time there. Even during not-so-nice weather, it is a pleasure to sit in it, with nature all around you. You can't help but relax! The lot is very large, with beautiful old trees, and it is fun just to wander around and down to the water to take a look at things. Although the location is remote enough to provide a peaceful atmosphere, it is convenient and in easy driving distance to the major roads and shopping (groceries and other.) Communication with the owners was wonderful - we received speedy replies to all of our inquiries and enjoyed meeting Harry who showed us around when we first arrived. We immediately felt welcome. We highly recommend this rental to anybody who is looking for a quiet place away from the touristy noise, yet close enough to the area's attractions.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

NOT OFTEN THAT ONE CAN FIND A LOVELY ESTATE COTTAGE LIKE THIS ONE TO RELAX IN! THE OWNERS WELCOMED US WITH A GOODIE BASKET, MUCH ENJOYED, AND WE APPRECIATED FINDING TEA/COFFEE SUPPLIES FOR THE NEXT MORNING. WITH THE COOL WEATHER WE THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THE COMFORTABLE LIVINGROOM/DVDS AND FIREPLACE - IT WAS PERFECT FOR OUR FAMILY OF 7, SPACIOUS, CLEAN AND BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED FOR OUR CHRISTMAS VISIT. MY HUSBAND WAS THRILLED TO HAVE A SUITE TUCKED AWAY OFF THE KITCHEN AWAY FROM OUR GROWN CHILDREN! THERE IS A SHOWER AVAILABLE FOR SENIORS TO USE. GREAT RESTAURANTS LOCATED CLOSE BY AND WE REALLY ENJOYED DINING IN AS THE KITCHEN WAS WELL EQUIPPED WITH GOOD QUALITY POTS/PANS AND DISHES ETC. THE VIEW OF COX'S CREEK WAS SPECTACULAR, AS WAS THE ENTRANCE TO THE PROPERTY. A WONDERFUL LOCATION FOR ALL SEASONS, HIGHLY RECOMENDED TO ALL.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is a lovely home. We greatly enjoyed all the wildlife we were able to see -- ducks, geese, deer, squirrels, a bald eagle, and fish jumping in the creek. It was also very nicely decorated for the holidays, and the wood pile was well-stocked such that we could make good use of the fireplace. Described as an estate, we expected a bit more isolation, but there are other homes within ~25 yards to either side. We enjoyed our visit greatly and may return in the future.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/5
