Canal Cottage-Sun Decks-Boat Dock, Game Room, Sunset View Room
- Minimum stay:7 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Rent our comfortable and restful cottage on one of the Top Ten Family beaches in the country (Conde Nast). The best feature of the cottage is the sunset view of the salt marsh from the sun-room. The separate downstairs game room with game tables/darts/video allow adults and kids to get away from each other. Dock on Canal allows easy Inter Coastal Waterway access.
Holden beach is 45 minutes south of Wilmington NC and 1 hour north of Myrtle Beach SC, 30 Minutes from Southport NC. There are wonderful restaurants and sightseeing in Wilmington. There is great shopping and night life in Myrtle Beach. Antiquing and car ferry access to NC Aquarium and historic Civil War site from Southport. Holden is a family friendly beach with wide sandy beaches and lots of shelling and good surf fishing and a fishing pier on the island. There are several seafood restaurants in the village and pizza and sandwich shops as well. There is a Walgreens and Food Lion in the town so grocery shopping is easy. There are delis that cater family meals too.
We rent Sunday to Sunday. Most beach rentals are Saturday to Saturday, so our renters miss the rush on check in day, and have fewer folks on the beach the Saturday before you leave, because they are checking out Saturday morning.
A cash deposit of $500 and credit card for a $500 security deposit will hold your reservation. Balance of rent is due two weeks before check-in.
If you have any questions, please send us an inquiry and we will respond by email, or call, if you give us your phone number.

Tax Shelter has become our weekly beach vacation home for the last 5 years. Every year it delivered a wonderful and a fantastic experience. Owners communicated everything very well to us before our visits so we know exactly what to expect once we got to the house. Everything was clean, well organized and very well equipped and very comfortable. The floating dock offered endless house of fishing and excitement to our young boys. The downstairs room was just perfect for movie and evening game time. The view of the marsh was spectacular. Overall, it was another great trip. We coming again this year.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Our two families (one from Suwanee, GA and one from Zebulon, NC) stayed here this month (July 2012). The house was perfect, especially for the 4 teenage boys that were with us. They stayed in the basement/gameroom area which was totally separate from the upstairs (which was where the adults and the two younger kids stayed). My other favorite things about the house were: the cleanliness of the entire house, the filtered water dispenser in the kitchen sink, the clean outside shower (all kids showered outside!), lots of hooks for your towels, very organized (places for everything from coffee mugs to keys!), clean carpet, great back deck with a covered seating area and being on the canal (we all enjoyed the beauty of the water and kayaking during the cooler parts of the day). While in Holden Beach, we were lucky to witness the birth of 2 seaturtles on our last night. Overall, it was a great trip and a great house!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

We had a great week back in July as our two adult children and our son-in-law joined us for a bit of a family reunion. The house was great--roomy, comfortable, well-equipped with a great deck and a floating dock on the canal. We enjoyed the nearby beach, hanging out on the deck, laying in the hammock, and even caught some crab from the dock which we promptly added to a big pot of low-country boil. Yum! The view of the marsh is as promised-- Enjoyed watching the deer and seabirds.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children.

my family stayed in this cottage a week and had a great time. The house is so cozy, the kitchen is fully equiped ( this is important to me ) and the beds are comfortable. We had four teen boys and the downstairs game room was a lifesaver. We also brought 2 jet skies so the dock was perfect. I highly recomend this beach cottage to anyone . Holden is a wonderful family beach.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
We have always enjoyed watching the sunrise and set across the large salt marsh that can be seen from our sun room. We watch many types of birds and deer play in the marsh. We plan an annual treasure hunt with our grandchildren that includes clues over the island and prizes and ends at the inland waterway park at the end of our street. The children look forward to hunting or helping plan the hunt each year.
