The original occupant of the Red Door Cottage was Mrs. Martha Smith, whose daughter lived in the front house. I had a wonderful experience staying at the Red Door Guest House for an extended stay. It is comfortable, clean and has a wonderful yard to relax in at the end of the day. I would highly recommend it for anyone coming out to enjoy the Walla Walla wine country! The owner is very thoughtful and has taken care to make the accommodations very welcoming. Thank you for everything!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

Don't let the truck full of garbage in the alleyway deter you from enjoying this lovely little cottage. the front of the property was very nicely landscaped and there were chairs to sit and enjoy the flowers in. It was nice to have a kitchen to cook breakfast and dinner in when were weren't otherwise engaged. Kitchen was adequately stocked. Bed was comfy and we enjoyed a couple of movies. Bathroom could have had some better soaps and shampoo. It would have been nice to have screens on the windows so we could enjoy the evening air without mosquitos. Yappy dog in the yard the morning of departure prevented us from enjoying our breakfast in the early morning sun. Generally a nice stay- would stay there again.Recommended for: Age 55+.

This is a really great and affordable option in Walla Walla. It's only a 15 minute walk to downtown and 5 minute walk to Pioneer Park. The place was clean and inviting.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

My wife and I rented this little cottage for the weekend and really enjoyed our stay. You will arrive to an alley entrance, which is not representative of the charm inside. Honestly, we were a bit concerned, until we walked inside and went out the front door (owners back yard, renters front yard) and saw the yard - charming! The unit was clean and well cared for, the air conditioner worked wonderfully and we were very comfortable. Broadband is listed as an amenity, however we never were given access which is why I've rated this as good. The walk to downtown is not a quick one, you will likely want to drive, but it is possible - probably a 30 minute walk. With these two very small gripes in mind, we highly recommend this cottage for your next Walla Walls trip. Especially considering the price, it's hard to beat the Red Door Guest House. Another reviewer already mentioned it, but I want to echo, stay here and spend your money on wine! We did!Owner response: I apologize to these guests for their first impression as they arrived at the cottage. There is debris directly across the alley from the cottage entrance that belongs to a neighbor. I am working with that neighbor to get the area cleaned up, and expect it to be addressed very soon. Absolutely delightful space and a great value. We spent our money on wine rather than lodging. Prepared breakfast and lunches at the cottage and splurged on dinners out. We will recommend to friends.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2003
About the owner: Seattle born and raised, I discovered Walla Walla in 2003. I purchased two rental properties in the valley in 2003, and in 2006 made a permanent move to the Walla Walla. One of the homes I purchased included a guest house behind the main house (The Red Door Cottage),which was in very bad condition. It has since been renovated and updated and I have had the good fortune to meet the granddaughter of the original occupant of the cottage to discover the history of her family and the property.
Why the Owner Chose Walla Walla:
Walla Walla enjoys 300 days of sunshine. The valley is home to three colleges which together with our wheat farmers and the wine industry provides many employment opportunities and a diverse work environment. Nice warm summers, many wine tasting venues, great food and wonderful small town camaraderie.
