Location is key - from our condo you have easy access to the pool and hot-tub, as our upper building location within the resort is the closest proximity to the elevated pool and sun-deck. Our upper building condo is offered as a One-Bedroom with 4-poster King bed, separate family room & a full kitchen, or as a Studio with 2-poster Queen bed & kitchenette, or combine the two and you have spacious 2 Bedroom/2 Bath condo great for two couples, or an extended family. There is additional sofa-bedding in both units to accommodate families of 6-8 dependent on age of kids & sleeping arrangements.
Our Studio + 1Br = TWO bedroom condo is unique -- there is an electric grill on the private deck of the 1Br and complimentary snorkel gear for guests of both the Studio & 1Br side, and island artwork throughout the condo that keeps you in the island spirit when indoors. (Check out our pictures.)
The grill and parking space conveys with the larger 1Br side but there is a separate stack washer/dryer in both the Studio and 1BR, so you can pack light!
The owners have traveled extensively in the Caribbean and collected art from the USVI to the Grenadines, and our condo is decorated with one-of-a-kind underwater oil paintings by a famous French artist who resides in the Grenadines. Everything about this condo is focused on increasing your enjoyment of the Caribbean and the unspoiled island of St. John.
While away, you can remain connected to home, as all condos at GRANDE BAY have FREE LONG-DISTANCE calling to the USA, so if you need to check-in with the mainland, you can! (There is a cordless land-line in each of the two units, with distinct phone numbers, and wireless service.)
This condo is a rare lock-out, not many at Grande Bay, and really the most flexible layout for owners and guests. You can rent the larger ONE BEDROOM side only, the STUDIO side only, or both, as they are separated by a lock-out door in between. My calendar on this site will show an opening if either side is open, so please email or call for particulars on which side is available.
With both sides rented, we can sleep two families up to six, eight depending on the kids! From the water toys, to the luxurious bedding, our condo has it all, including the closest proximity of any to the resort pool, sun deck, the gym and the hot-tub. The gym includes a top of the line PILATES machine, treadmills, a recumbent bike trainer, an elliptical, & live weights. And the pool is truly unique, with ceramic inserts of turtles and other sea-life, designed by the owner of this condo.
The smaller Studio with kitchenette, on its own, is really perfect for a couple, and is the most economical choice. Regardless of your choice, you will have spectacular Caribbean views from the private front terraces of either, and enjoy all that Grande Bay Resort has to offer.
Here's more detail - the private master bedroom of the larger 1Br side has a KING size solid teak, four poster bed in the West Indian style, with a pillow-top mattress and Ralph Lauren fine cotton bedding. The bedroom also has an en-suite full bath, its own 42" LCD TV with DVD and VHS player, an iHome, a separate CD player, a large closet, and an oversized stack washer/dryer in a dedicated closet. The main living area of the one-bedroom side includes a Ligne Roset queen futon sleeper sofa, a solid mahogany day bed, a wall mounted 42" LCD TV connected to cable, a PS2 for the kids, an iPod player, board games, and a desk. The 6' long antique mahogany day bed will accommodate a child, and the high-end futon by Ligne Roset, lays flat to a queen size bed & can sleep a couple. The front terrace can accommodate four for breakfast, with a rattan coffee table, four chairs, and two side tables. It is really another room, and with a view that makes it hard to leave! It is also in constant shade, and remains cool with a great breeze.
The studio has a 2-poster, queen bed, with pillow-top mattress, a sofa-bed, and another full-bath, with kitchenette. The sitting area has has an easy chair in addition to the sofa, a desk, and another 42" flat panel TV. The private terrace of the studio has a gorgeous solid teak Titanic replica deck chair, and two other solid teak african meditation chairs. The view is extraordinary, and provides the setting for morning or evening relaxation at its best! Please email the owner for a complete floor plan.
Like all condos at Grande Bay, you have all the luxuries expected in a high-end resort. The full-kitchen on the one-bedroom side is well equipped, everything you need is there for any meals you want to prepare. The efficiency kitchen on the Studio side has a fridge, microwave, and other kitchenware as well, including a kitchen sink!
The Grande Bay Resort is truly unique. It is the ONLY resort in St. John with a heated pool situated on an elevated sun deck with a commanding view about 30' above the water, with its own waterfall to add to the unique sights and sound of the resort. At Grande Bay, and St. John in general, the island life is all about enjoying the color of the island, the world class beaches, the crystal clear water, and the location!

My wife and I, with our two girls, have spent as many weeks in our island condo as work and school schedules will allow. Our highlight was spending the whole month of July 2008. If you can spare the time, more than a week is a must, because just one week never allows you to get in sync with island time. I have been to nearly every island from Turks & Caicos to the ABC's (Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao), and St. John is by far the most idyllic and unspoiled of any developed island in the Caribbean. Thanks to Laurance S. Rockefeller "discovering" Cannel Bay in 1952 while sailing in the Caribbean, and due to his efforts and others, 3/4 of the whole island of St. John will be preserved forever as National Park Land. This alone is what makes St. John unique not only in the USVI but in all of the Caribbean. Add to that the best beaches in the Caribbean, and you have the perfect recipe for an island experience that is best defined as "unspoiled".
Why the Owner Chose Cruz Bay
We decided to purchase a condo on St. John after visiting many other islands throughout the Caribbean. We decided on St. John and ultimately the Grande Bay Resort due to its location and the fact that it was new. Our goal was a destination that would provide family and friends walking access to all that St. John and Cruz bay has to offer. But, we also wanted our own, reserved, interior parking space, as it is enjoyable to explore the far reaches of St. John by car or jeep. (The only challenge in Cruz bay is parking, so if you rent a car or jeep, you really must have a parking space you can rely on - and Grande Bay is unique in that regard.) Venturing to the "other side" of the island on your own is a real treat. You will navigate the goats and donkeys on the road and be part of the truly laid back elements of Coral Bay. Exploring St. John makes anyone feel like a kid again - and my family knows the island extremely well and can provide a beach itinerary with interests that appeal to those ages 7-75. There is a world-class beach and snorkel area for every day of the week, with more to spare. We also wanted to be within easy public ferry or private charter boat of the British Virgin Islands (BVI). New Year's Eve 2009 (or as the say in the BVI, "Old Years Day") was spent by the family on Jost Van Dyke, at the world famous Foxy's. Jost, Tortola, & Virgin Gorda with "the Baths" is also a day trip excursion away. Just bring your passport, and pick the day to island hop via ferry or private charter. We can help you with both!

Amazing Trip to St. John at the Jordan's condo

Our recent trip to St. John (first time ever in the Caribbean) was in a word - AMAZING! From booking the condo with John (made it SO easy) to working with a local property manager to the wonderful accomodations and hospitality provided. We enjoyed the condo - well appointed and very welcoming. We traveled as a family of four with two children ages 3 and 7 and the house was perfect for us (actually we could have brought the grandparents and still would have had plenty of room!). It was so helpful to have towels, movies, snorkel gear, Wi-Fi, a full kitchen, Washer/Dryer, a parking space and the option to have provisions purchased on our behalf ahead of arrival. The location is ideal - close to everything in Cruz Bay - you can walk everywhere in town to all restaurants, shops, ferry landing, the kayak! We also rented a jeep (and picked it up upon arrival with the help of property manager. We wanted the option of driving to all of the North Shore beaches whenever we wanted, especially with the kids. But, you really do not need a car given the location of this condo. You can take the plentiful taxi buses/trucks to any of the beach locations. We also loved the pool which is super close to the condo. We would spend all morning at the beach and late afternoons at the beautiful pool and jacuzzi. One of the best parts of this caribbean destination - St. John - is how safe you always feel whether it is walking or driving around day or night. Again, the location is the best! Our fav North Shore beach was Cinnamon Bay & Maho was a close second. The snorkeling is amazing. Thank you again for renting us your beautiful condo. We had such a wonderful time in your little slice of paradise! We hope to be back very soon and would very much like to stay in your condo again.

My husband and I rented the studio side, our friends rented the one bedroom that was connected. We had a truly amazing vacation. The condo's were very clean and nicely decorated. The view is great. The work out room is very nice. The owner was fantastic to work with. The location of the condo is amazing, within close walking distance to all of the bars, shops and restaurants in Cruz Bay. If you dive, use Low Key, they are right next door and a great operation. Mango Phils is must, the food was fantastic! Woods was also a lot of fun. Make sure you stop by Bamboo for jewelry, the staff is fantastic and the quality is top notch. Make sure you rent a car, the available parking space is good, because parking in Cruz Bay is very limited. You will need the car to explore the truly amazing beaches. Fantastic vacation, great rental, you will not be sorry.

My husband and I had a fabulous 8 night vacation in the studio apartment. The unit was bright, clean and well equipped. The condo is close to town making it a breeze to drift in and out for dinner, groceries, and a drink or shopping. The restaurants of Cruz Bay were fabulous, pricey, but fabulous. We tried a different each night with our favorites being the Lime Inn and the Ocean Grill. If you find yourself at either, be sure to try the rum punch and the golden margarita to wash down you tuna, mahi-mahi, or favorite shellfish dinner. The pool at Grande Bay was inviting and we enjoyed a beer and cool down swim each afternoon after a day of hiking and beaching. We loved all the beaches from the bustling Trunk Bay to the more remote Leinster Bay beach and Maho, Cinnamon, Honeymoon and Solomon sandwiched in between. Snorkeling abounds on St. John. Every beach it seems had some wonderment lying beneath the surface. When we tired of bay snorkeling, we rented a dinghy for a day and tooled off to Waterlemon Key and snorkeled there. We were lucky enough to see a couple of sea turtles on our way through Caneel Bay. Recovery from an injury prevented me from any rigorous hiking, but we found lots of level trails that offered wonderful sights around each turn of the trail. St. John is an island of miracles and beauty and this condo was a great place to stay and enjoy all that the island has to offer. John was a very responsive owner and quick to e-mail and answered all of my questions. Laurie and Craig helped us find a parking spot when we arrived. Craig greeted us at the ferry and helped get us acclimated to the condo. We will return and when we do, we will only consider staying at Grande Bay. Thanks for opening your piece of paradise to us. Outstanding trip and I would not hesitate to recommend this unit to anyone who asked.

We have been home less than two weeks from St. John and I decided to check availability for next year when I noticed the "write a review" link. A review from me?! Heck yes - we LOVED our trip and every one should know it! Let me start with the booking process...the owners are spectacular! I asked a thousand questions and John patiently answered them all. He truly went above and beyond, my daughter wrote an article for her school paper on STJ and John allowed her to interview him for the paper. He was on a business trip and took the time to call her for the interview. Who does this kind of stuff? These owners do! We were met at the ferry by a wonderful property manager, Laurie. She loaded all our luggage in her car while we walked the beach to the condo. The condo is just as described, clean and well maintained, everything you need and more is provided. The location is perfect, a very short walk to town and you have many restaurant options as well as great shopping. We also walked to Honeymoon and Salmon Beaches and had three great backpack chairs to take with us thanks to the condo. We did rent a car and came to find what a luxury it is to have your own parking space. We explored the entire island and just could not have had a better time. There are so many things we would recommend, here are a few... Make certain you go to see Lauren at Morgan's Mango on Friday night - she is simply spectacular. She also sings at other locations on the island. We loved Margarita Phil's, Donkey Diner, Joe's Rum Hut (great take out pizza and "you call it" drinks for $3 from 4-6),Uncle Joe's BBQ and Skinny Legs. The staff at Low Key Watersports (connected to Grande Bay) are fantastic to work with and it is so convenient! Bamboo Studio has beautiful jewelry, what we didn't spend on Bushwackers we spent in their shop! We also toured the BVI with Palm Tree Charters; snorkeled at Norman's Island, had lunch on the Willy T, drinks at Pirates Bight, a swim at Sandy Cay and ended our day in a hammock at Soggy Dollar Bar. It could not have been more perfect and Captain John was the best host. There is so much more for us to do which is why I was on this page tonight - booking our next trip! (Little piece of advice...don't send anything to the island via USPS...we sent our box March 1 and it has yet to arrive in STJ!) Needless to say, we had the most wonderful trip in the best condo on the island. Do I recommend this owner - ABSOLUTELY!

Our stay in this 1-bedroom condo was perfect! We’ve stayed on St Thomas several times and wanted to stay on St John this trip. We don’t drive in the islands so this choice worked perfectly for us. We were close to food, shopping, entertainment and transportation. We took taxis to the beaches each time and it worked so well for us. Our communication with the owners prior to our trip was excellent. They answered every question and were very easy and cordial to work with. The on island property manager was awesome. She also emailed with me prior to arrival and her husband was at the dock waiting for us when we arrived. The condo was clean and well-kept. We had made arrangements for the property manager to provision with groceries and that was a good choice (at a very reasonable charge). It saved us from having to grocery shop and we could settle right into island time so easily. We cooked some of our own meals and we LOVED the grill on the balcony. We got fresh fish twice and it was so tasty being able to grill it ourselves. When we didn’t feel like preparing our own meals we would walk to Cruz Bay and find a restaurant or bar from one of the many choices. We went to different beaches 4 days and stayed at the condo pool area for a couple of days also. Both kinds of days were very nice. We also tried out the kayak and that was fun too. Our weather was fabulous and we could not have asked for a better time. We would definitely stay in this condo again and Grande Bay is a perfect location. Even though we didn't need to use the service of the Grande Bay management, I'd like to say they were also very friendly and cordial whenever we saw them in passing. They also let us store our luggage in their office for a couple of hours prior to us leaving on the ferry. This gave us time to eat lunch and do some last minute shopping without having to drag our bags with us.

We rented both the studio and 1BR (connected to make essentially one unit) for 5 adults. The space was perfect. Unit is well maintained, clean and has all the essentials for a very comfortable stay. The location is perfect - it was great to be able to walk to town for meals, shopping, etc. The owner and property manager were great to deal with - made everything easy. Would definitely rent here again.

Two of us had the pleasure of staying at this Grande Bay condo unit over Thanksgiving 2011. John - the property owner was very accommodating in assisting with this reservation . Holly, the property manager, met us at the ferry dock and escorted to this fantastic Grande Bay condo. We enjoyed the 1 bedroom side of this 2 bedroom lockout during our vacation. This beautifully furnished condo is well equipped with everything you couldd possibly need for an extended stay. The condo is outfitted with all kitchen utensils, flat screen TV's, a kayak, water toys, coolers and a washer / dryer unit and an unbelievable view ovewrlooking Cruz Bay. Grande Bay is in a perfect location to easily walk to everything in Cruz Bay. We enjoyed the shopping and restaurants in town as they were so easily accessible. I have visited St. John many times and I would highly recommend this condo as it's the best accommodation on the island. Upon my next visit to this wonderful island this Grande Bay condo will be my first choice. It should be yours too - can't be beat !!

My Husband and I stayed in this condo for our honeymoon back in October 2010 and it was fantastic! I would not really recommend this room for any more than two people. It's very cozy, yet with plenty of room for two. The weather was horrible, but the accommodations could not have been better. Everything was very clean, spacious and beautiful! The big king sized be was very comfortable. The washer and dryer was nice to have. The bathroom was clean and beautiful, the only thing that would've made it better is if there was a bathtub for soaking. The hot tub and pool outside were fantastic and never ever crowded, most of the time we were the only two there! The parking was great asset if you rent a car (which I recommend).The owner was a pleasure to work with, things went very smoothly. He arranged for someone to meet you at the ferry dock and drive you to your condo, she also gives you a little tour around town to show you where things are. We stayed for 10 days and five of them were during a tropical storm that later turned into a hurricane! After we returned home the owner emailed me and offered us another week at a great discount because of the unfortunate weather, I thought that was really nice! I really highly recommend this condo. St. John cannot be beat, so romantic and wonderful (even with the unlucky weather)! Grande Bay is a great location if you want to be withing walking distance to restaurants and shopping.

A few girlfriends and I stayed here when we came in town for a destination wedding. Having never been to St. John, finding the condo was extremely easy (a 5 minute walk from the ferry) and near the majority of restaurants/bars/shops/grocery stores. We rented both condos, which was a perfect amount of space for our group. Having kitchen space as well as washer and dryer was wonderful considering we stayed for a week. We loved having the option of a pool, as well as the workout facility, which had a great view of Cruz Bay. Would highly recommend for anyone coming to visit, especially a younger crowd that is interested in being close to the restaurants/bars at night (no need for cabs, all are a ~5 minute walk home). This was our 16th trip to St. John; our second to one of John's properties. Grande Bay is a great place to stay -- such a quick walk into town for dinner or shopping, lovely views, and the most beautiful pool deck I've ever seen -- some sort of stone mined in the Dominican Republic. My husband enjoyed the use of the kayak for a trip to Chocolat Hole and John provided snorkel gear in case we didn't have our own. We don't cook much when we are on the island (be sure to get ribs at Joe's and book a sunset seating at Asolare), but it was nice to have a fridge for snacks and a microwave to heat up our coffee during our leisurely breakfasts on the terrace. Even more convenient -- the washer and dryer. We stayed in the one bedroom last year, which we enjoyed, and this year's stay in the studio was just as wonderful. Thanks, John, for another great vacation!
