  By far the best place to stay in Playa Hermosa guanacaste! My family and I just arrived back from our stay at this property in Sol Y Mar and could not have had a better time. Of all the units in this condo complex this is defiantly the best one. We were the only ground unit that was directly in front of the pool with the ocean just a couple of feet away..... the pictures are one hundred percent accurate, its literally right there! You definitely had the feeling of the pool being in your own private back yard and only when other guests showed up did we snap back to reality and realize we had to share!! We traveled with 2 small children and 5 adults and found the ease and comfort of having the terrace right in front of the pool was invaluable! There was no need to haul a bunch of stuff out to the pool/beach each day because our unit was so close, it could not have been more convenient. Not to mention the pool/beach toys on hand that were at our disposal compliments of the owners! We didn't rent a car and found getting around by taxi worked great. For the most part we stayed local to the condo and surrounding area and made two trips into Coco for big grocery shops at the super mercado; a really nice store, has all items you would find in a north american supermarket. Otherwise we walked up to the luperon which was 15 min away for the odd bit of groceries we needed in between. All along the beach were little restaurants and bars which were convenient however we love to cook so we mostly ate in each day. The boys caught 11 tuna on there second day of fishing and we eat like kings for 5 days straight! Captain Al was great for the fishing trips he also took the whole family out snorkeling, even the baby! We would highly recommend him, he spoke good English and was very personable. My 4 year old son insisted I mention how nice it was to jump into the pool and swim back and forth. He literally learned how to tread water on this trip he swam so much! If my 7 month old daughter could talk I am sure she would say her favorite part was going for a dip in the pool and the ocean to cool off..... it was hot the whole time we were there, soooo great! I can't say enough about this place we all had such a great time and would definitely come back again. The condo, pool, beach, ocean.... it was all wonderful. The perfect spot for a vacation. Thank you so much to the owners for allowing us to stay there. We miss you Sol Y Mar!! Until next time...

  Exceeded all of our expectations ! The perfect location for a family getaway on the beach with all the comforts of home, plenty of water sports at your doorstep, and wonderful restaurants within a short walk.

  We (my husband and I, and our two kids (6 and 7) and another couple) stayed at Sol y Mar during Easter week this year and it was great. The condo was very nice, and was well-equipped with everything we needed. It more than lives up to the description and pictures shown. The pool is right outside the condo, and the beach just beyond--great location for both, and great for kids. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Lots of water activities nearby--we rented jet skis one day,and did a fishing tour and just walked the beach lots. good location for the airport, but not too far for many adventure tours. Scott was really helpful in offering suggestions on what to do and where to go. All in all, we highly recommend it and we had an excellent trip. Can't wait to go back.

  We rented this unit for March break and were delighted to find that it was even nicer than we had expected from the photos. The living-room and kitchen face the ocean and are nice and bright and the furnishings are lovely. You only have to walk about 20 feet to get to the pool from the porch/dining area just outside that are also facing the ocean. Another nice aspect is that it is only a 30 minute drive from the airport. The owner was very helpful and suggested a "meet and greet" service which I highly recommend. The owner arranged a fellow to pick us up at the airport and he was very nice and reasonable ($40 US) for 5 of us and all of our luggage. Cheryl and Daryl were there to greet us. Their fee is $100.00 and they had purchased the groceries we had requested and showed us around the unit and provided us with a lot of information about restaurants and activities. They were also on call for any questions we had about the unit or activities. I highly recommend the deep sea fishing people that Daryl sent us to. You connect with them through a tiny outdoor restaurant just down the beach. My son went fishing twice. Once with me and once with my husband and both times we caught lots of fish and cooked our catch that night. We felt very safe there and the people we met, owners and renters alike were lovely. This is a great place to bring your family. My sister and my 91 year old father were with us as well. I would highly recommend that you bring earplugs with you. Remember that this is Costa Rica and there are lots of wild monkeys etc and they can get loud during the night so be sure to bring the ear plugs or a fan if you are a light sleeper. All in all we had a wonderful time.

  The house has an excellent location and it´s very comfortable. The rooms have a very good size and each one has it´s own bathroom. The pool area is in front of the house and if you take 10 more steps you are on the beach. We will definitely rent this house again.

  We had a great week – the condo is outstanding! We were extremely pleased with everything and will happily (hopefully) return again. It worked great for our family having easy access to both the pool and the beach which is deal for children. The beach toys left for kids were a great bonus! The pictures are very accurate, the owner is easy to work with. There are restaurants in easy walking distance. We had an all around great experience.

  We had a great week – the condo is outstanding! We were extremely pleased with everything and will happily (hopefully) return again. It worked great for our family having easy access to both the pool and the beach which is deal for children. The “toys” left for kids were a great bonus! Pictures are accurate, owner very easy to work with - It was a great experience all around.

  excellent location. pool and beach great. clean and well maintained. weather was great. had a great meal cooked by a local lady. had a great sail. hotel food near by. grocery store near.

  Just back from an awesome vacation in Costa Rica. Solymar 3C was a wonderful place to stay. The beautiful and totally laid back beach was only a few steps away. Often stayed late on the beach watching the sun go down, birds fly home and the stars appear on the sky... I would go back in a heart-beat.

  If you are looking for a secluded get away this is the place!! Playa Hermosa is a beautiful secluded beach with very few tourist. The condo is exactly as depicted on this website. It has all the amenities of your home. We even had a sand bucket for our daughter to play with. There are several restaurants within walking distance or the local grocery store is nearby as well. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay. We saw several species of parrot in the trees and also Howler monkey's. Everyone on the property was very friendly and very helpful. We will be suggesting this area to our friends and we hope to visit very soon.

  Space was an excellent base for our vacation. Extremely nice, & roomy for the 6 of us . Enjoyed the pool, hot-tub, beach, market & snorkeling, 3 local restaurants we walked to, had a cook 3 dinners (great local cuisine), bar-b-qued a red snapper purchased from a local fisherman one evening. Small washer/ dryer, 1/2 hour power outage one evening. Lots to do close by. Had a Great time & place was also great.

  In late November 2011 we spent 10 days at this condo in Playa Hermosa. This is one of the times when you truly get what you see in the pictures - Awesome!!! The unit was well furnished and spacious. Lots of room for 2-6 pp. Outside is a large covered patio area with both seating and dining areas along with outdoor cooking facilities and only steps away into a beautiful pool. The beach was great, sandy, not too busy and hot. Only thing to change would be better beach chairs! Playa Hermosa itself is small, quaint with several restaurants within walking distance along with a small grocery store. We will return again and hope to stay here again. PS; We are recommending this place to relatives!!! Mike Penticton

  My wife and I and another couple just returned a couple of weeks ago from our first vacation in Costa Rica and had a great time.The condo was very comfortable,clean,had everything we needed and was beyond expectations in every way.We enjoyed ziplineing,jet skiing,sightseeing,shopping and went to almost every resturant that the owner had listed in the guestbook and never had bad dining experience even once.The beaches and condominium is very private,the pool and view of the ocean is beautiful and the grounds around the complex are very well kept.Our next trip will include the volcano's, a higher and faster zipline,fishing,rafting and more eating I'm sure but it's hard not to just hang out at the pool and just relax.Thanks to the property manager Daryl and his wife for being so nice to us and thanks to owners.

  My husband, myself and three kids stayed at this condo and couldn't have ask for nicer facilities. It was like we had a private pool and beach to ourselves - they were both just steps out the front door. The place was very well equipped and very well located to activities my family wanted to participate in. We did travel in the car quite a bit but thought this place was centrally located. From the guards to the gardener to the property manager, everyone was extremely helpful, nice and even went out of their way to help our family locate a family of 8 monkeys staying right behind the house. I would definitely recommend this property to all.

  My family and I stayed at Sol y Mar for a week in May 2011 and had a wonderful experience at the property. Everything we needed was already in the condo and it was a quick drive to a grocery store and a few restaurants in Hermosa or Coco. The condo is in great condition, the property is beautiful and it is on a really cute beach that is great for walking, running, tanning, swimming, or body surfing. The property manager was extremely personable and helpful and we had a great time here. Security is on the property 24 hours which makes it very safe. It is extremely relaxing. We even had massages right on our pool deck! One note - if you are hoping to visit Arenal (zip-lining, hiking, etc.), it would be wise to stay in Arenal for a night...the drive is 3+ hours and roads are not in perfect shape. Also - we rented a car and had no trouble driving to nearby towns/beaches, although the quality of roads and signs is not that of U.S. standards (some travel sites recommend not driving b/c of conditions...we were fine and were happy to have the car to drive to Coco).

  Our stay was not as expected. the road through an obvious Tico neighborhood initially caused some concern. Tico is a local term for native Costa Ricans. And the area was like a beach town where property values had not yet addressed the view. It turned out that this enabled us to truly immerse in the wonderful culture more intimately than where we stayed next (Four Seasons resort in Papagayou a half hour away). The beach area had a walk beneath beautiful trees, the area was centrally located for our needs. We had Donna Hoppe cater the first two nights for us....authentic Costa Rican food. First timers and returnees both should consider her services first couple nights.. The condo itself was georgeus. Criticisms were minimal. Pool temperature was cooler than any of us liked, and two loose door handles inside. But the bedrooms were spacious, everything Immaculate, and you could not ever hear our friends in the adjoining bedroom. English TV channels, great covered veranda made the visit really perfect. For people who really want an authentic beach experience, this is the place. Even if you plan on staying later at the four seasons Resort nearby. There is something here quite homelike or soothing. Consider meals down the beach 500 feet, at the Bosque, eating outdoors in a plush setting With monkeys and Roosters in sight. Or north in an elegant tree house type setting at Ginger's (Asian fusion ) about 2 blocks. Don't let the last couple of blocks of dirt road leading to this condo fool you. It is in an excellent location with little competition. Highly recommended for local color, and relaxation.

  Our stay at SOL yMar 3C provided a beautiful, refreshing and comfortble week. The accomodations could not have been better. We did some adventuring and sight seeing, people everywhere were very accomadating and could spend dollars everywhere.Very good resturants were plentiful and it was neat to walk down the beach to a couple. Snow was on the ground at home, 82 degrees and sunny there. All in all, it was a great getaway..

  This property met all of our expectations. The condition of the unit was very good and accurately represented by the photos that we viewed on-line prior to booking. The Owner was extremely helpful, answered all of our questions and gave us excellent recommendations on activities that our family might enjoy. This was the perfect, quiet beach location for relaxing and is within a reasonable distance from other attraactions. This is the perfect home base for an active week or to stay without going anywhere else and simply relax for days on end. Highly recommended.

  VERY NICE Stayed here a week in 2007, a week in2008 and a week in 2010. It is very safe and convenient to many things to see and do. The owner has it well equipped and they have gone to great lengths to provide the renter tons of maps, brochures, menus of great places to eat and just all types of info for your stay to be a HIT as you will know what is going on and where to do it. The setting is just a paradise within its self.
