Charming, Rustic Cottage, 25ft of Private Beach, 300 Acre Pond
- Minimum stay:2-7 nights
- Internet:No
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
A charming lakeside cabin nestled deep in the woods offers a unique & memorable vacation opportunity. Enjoy beautiful sunsets over the crystal clear, sandy bottom Great South Pond while sitting on the 40 x 8' wrap around porch only 50+ feet from water's edge. Or park a few chairs on the 25feet of private beach w/dock & watch the occasional swan go by. A very restricted pond, (no gas motors) fishing is a favorite & usually very satisfying activity. Kayaking, canoeing, picnicking, bird watching, hiking... there's no end to the fun activities to create the perfect family vacation. For the nature enthusiasts, the cabin is connected via dirt roads & paths to many hundreds of acres of forest & the area is home to a multitude of wildlife including several protected species, most notably, the Plymouth Red-Bellied Cooter. The cottage is equipped w/a TV, DVD & many games - though we think you'll want to spend most of your time outdoors!

My brother and I stayed here for a week recently. Andrea and Kenny are the greatest! We took the boat to the island exploring, sat on the porch and watched the sunsets, but it was a little too cool to lay in the hammock this time of year. The owners provide all needed amenities. Can't say enough about our stay. We would be happy to stay here again. Quaint cottage reminded me of being on Walden Pond or "On Golden Pond". Thank you both for the wonderful vacation. PS: I'm missing my steamed clams already, I'll have to hurry back to that neck of the woods.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a terrific weekend and absolutely loved the cabin and the location. It is "away from it all" yet within striking distance of places in the area that we wanted to visit! The property is cleane and well maintained and we were very comfortable. The color of the trees that weekend made for a spectacular view from the front porch on our 1st morning (we arrived at dusk) and we toured the lake in the owner's kayaks and canoes prior to heading out to see the local sights. Upon return that evening we built a fire in the fire pit at the edge of the water and enjoyed the stars and the cool evening. The property owners are particularly helpful and friendly which we deeply appreciated because we are not from that region and needed advice regarding restaurants, etc. We would highly recommend this property and wished we lived closer to visit the area more often!Did you find this review helpful? What a great vacation. The cottage if right on the water and we watched beautiful sunsets every night. The owners are really nice and accommodating. Their is plenty of walking trails nearby and shopping is only 10 minutes away. So if you want a relaxing vacation with local attraction nearby this is the place. Can't wait to go back. We stayed here with over July 4th week and just really enjoyed ourselves. The cottage is comfortable and had everything we needed. We loved the double doors that allow you to get a great view of the beach and pond from the house. Andrea and her husband were very welcoming, checking to make sure we had everything we needed. Since we had a few kids in our party that were visiting, they let us use the extra kayaks from their house next door, which was handy. The water is clear, warm and inviting...the beach across the pond is like a mini paradise. We boated there with a picnic and had the whole soft sand beach to ourselves. My husband and I biked some of the trails nearby and there are plenty of side roads for a good run/walk. What a great stay, we'll have to go back!Did you find this review helpful? Wonderful Place to Stay in Massachusetts

Many thanks to you and your husband for helping to make our vacation in Massachusetts such an enjoyable experience. The cottage is lovely and the work you all have done is clearly a labor of love. The pond is pristine and serene. It was very restful not to hear the drone of gasoline motors or jet skis so common on most lakes. The sunsets were gorgeous, especially when viewed from the dock or porch. The watercraft and fishing equipment were much appreciated fringe benefits which my children particularly enjoyed. We all enjoyed seeing the turtles in Turtle Cove. The cottage was a wonderful place at which to relax and return to after a day of local sightseeing. Plymouth was very convenient to our day trips to Salem, Concord, Boston, Braintree, the Cape and Martha’s Vineyard. One evening we went to see the Plimouth Players perform The Tempest over at Plimouth Plantation and we thoroughly enjoyed it. And thank you for accommodating our dog, Danny. My wife could not bear to leave him home. It was cute how he would go out and sit on the driveway in the mornings and wait for Duke to come over to play.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children.

We stayed for an extended weekend in September 2010 and the cottage was exactly as described. The cottage was rustic but had all the modern conviences such as flat screen tv, microwave and coffee maker. The property was secluded but just 10 minutes away their was shopping and dining. The view of the pond and the sunsets were beautiful. The property was clean and the owner answered all my questions in a timely manner. We brought our dogs and enjoyed miles of hiking trails nearby. Everyone was very friendly. I would highly recommend this property to someone who is looking to get away but wants to be close enough for shopping and dining.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children.

We would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a restful, beautiful vacation stay! The owners went the extra mile to insure that we enjoyed our stay. The cabin was perfect, and easily accomodated our 5 small children. The lake was warm and the scenery beautiful. Travel into Plymouth was easy, and getting to Boston was also easy from this location. There are many nearby beaches. We enjoyed our stay and had no complaints or concerns!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We rented the house for a week this summer. It was terrific. Despite the worst weather of the summer we had a wonderful time... sitting about 100 feet from the quiet, peaceful lake (only about 25 houses around the whole lake), and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The house is charming, secluded and well maintained. Plus all the necessities (cooking utensils, sheets, towels) are provided. In addition, there is a TV and DVD player in case, as we were, you are stuck with days upon days of rain. The small beach is sandy and easily accessible and the use of the boats was an unexpected delight. It is about a 10 minute from downtown Plymouth with all the restaurants and attractions. We would highly recommend this.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

This cottage is such a find. We wanted fishing, relaxing and sunsets. What we got was so much more. Boats for the kids ( boys, ages 11 and 14) to use for fishing , a battery motor to get across the lake to a beach whose sand mimics Cancun ( seriously) , a sturdy and comfortable hammock that induced many afternoon naps, and an incredible 'cabin' feel to this cottage. Clean, well maintained and fully stocked with every amenity, including paper goods, beach towels for each family member , and a kitchen that provided for every cooking detail. The bedrooms are small, but the decorated linens give them a quaint home like feel. The sleeping cubby is a perfect hideaway for the child in your party who likes to play in forts. The best part of this property is the wrap around deck. We ate many meals out there, watching sunset after beautiful sunset. With a full table and chairs, and then more wooden recliner chairs on the other end- you could easily host an outdoor meal for family and friends who may drop in. Andrea Scott is a gracious, unassuming host who succeeded with my family in making us feel so welcome, from the bowl of fruit upon arrival, to the comprehensive attractions binder, that guided us to all the wonderful areas to explore in Plymouth. With Plymouth Harbor less than 2 miles away, the Whale Watch tour from Captain John's is a must. I would highly recommend a stay at this cottage. My husband and I and our two sons are already planning our return next summer.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children.
