Fiddler's Trace bungalow description
The GUEST HOUSE has the feel of an efficiency with a bedroom/living area and kitchenette combined in a one-room open plan. The separate bathroom/shower is newly updated. Newly redecorated as well, the guest house is light and airy with a nautical feel about it. The large deck attached contributes to a feeling of spaciousness. All furniture within the guest house is new, comfortable and casual. It includes a love seat, coffee table, end table and lamp in the living room, a queen size bed with two end tables and two lamps for reading, and a large dresser in the sleeping area. Sink, stove, oven, a small refrigerator with pots, pans, dishes and eating utensils in the kitchenette are available to make a quick breakfast or a full dinner served in the living area or on the deck.
Golf Cart - If you have one, bring it! Golf cars are driven anywhere and everywhere on the island. A great way to get around to the beaches, shopping areas, Forest Gump filming sites, docks, restaurants and more.
The property sits on a peninsula which extends into Fripp Island's most expansive marsh. The marsh basin fills with tidal waters and can appear like a lake right outside the home. Dolphins can be seen from the house especially during high tide. Plan to experience absolute peace and solitude with only the sounds of osprey and herons. The view offered is 180 degrees with amazing vistas of wildlife, the marina and Old House Creek. With western exposure the vistas (and sunsets)are beyond description.
A visit to the GUEST HOUSE will be memorable long after leaving Fripp Island.

- The Guest House is perfect for two people. We have had honeymooners and welcomed others on their anniversary. It's a romantic getaway for two or it offers quiet solitude for a single guest looking for a peaceful time-out. What we love most about the Guest House location ... morning walks, viewing and hearing birds day and night, the crabbing dock nearby, sitting on the patio and viewing a starlit evening and waking to a 180 degree panoramic view of the marsh. The Guest House, itself, is newly remodeled. It has a nautical theme and is fresh, clean and spacious for two people. All your linens and bedding are supplied as well everything you'd need in a kitchen. Economically, it is the best place you will find on the island for two people. We'd love to have you visit!...moreless

Fripp Island Experience
Fripp Island Experience
Lovely location on the marsh, and the cottage itself is large enough for 2, but be sure to bring everything you need. Owner does not supply paper towels, toilet paper; if you run out, it's a long drive to Publix. No hair dryer, and towels are limited to 2 each for an entire week. No Fripp ammenities included, the harbor master refused to even allow us to lauch kayaks. The cottage is rustic in style, being constructed with old barn boards. It is quite charming, but the front door has authentic worm holes and cracks which allow the no-see-ums and chiggers to enter freely; no amount of bug spray deters them. Sunsets are glorious, but the bugs are so horrible that there is no way to sit outside to enjoy it. A little bit of yard clean up might bring down the bug population; they thrive in the old spanish moss and pine needles that need to be removed. We were eaten alive and came home with dozens of nasty bites. Hunting Island State park is an incredible place; don't miss it. Charleston is about an hour away and is an amazing city. Pickney Island National Wildlife Refuge is phenomenal. We saw dozens of bird species, turtles, otters, even baby alligators with their mother soaking in the sun. Overall we had a nice vacation but will not return to Fripp Island unless we stayed at a place that offered use of the facilities. It is too far away to be worth the drive.

Owner response: Owner appreciates above review! Cleaners have resupplied paper products in quantity. Extra towels have been added for a week long stay. As most know, S. Carolina is tropical especially in the summer and mosquitoes, spanish moss and pine needles are part of the S Carolina experience however we don't have chiggers in or around the Guest House. Insect repellent is the accepted protocal for all Fripp Island guests and is necessary from dusk to nightfall if you are outside. It is important to keep doors to our Guest House closed during the peak mosquitoe hours. We welcome all inquiries about staying at the Guest House on Fripp Island, in S. Carolina.
