Fiddler's Trace bungalow description

The GUEST HOUSE has the feel of an efficiency with a bedroom/living area and kitchenette combined in a one-room open plan. The separate bathroom/shower is newly updated. Newly redecorated as well, the guest house is light and airy with a nautical feel about it. The large deck attached contributes to a feeling of spaciousness. All furniture within the guest house is new, comfortable and casual. It includes a love seat, coffee table, end table and lamp in the living room, a queen size bed with two end tables and two lamps for reading, and a large dresser in the sleeping area. Sink, stove, oven, a small refrigerator with pots, pans, dishes and eating utensils in the kitchenette are available to make a quick breakfast or a full dinner served in the living area or on the deck.

Golf Cart - If you have one, bring it! Golf cars are driven anywhere and everywhere on the island. A great way to get around to the beaches, shopping areas, Forest Gump filming sites, docks, restaurants and more.

The property sits on a peninsula which extends into Fripp Island's most expansive marsh. The marsh basin fills with tidal waters and can appear like a lake right outside the home. Dolphins can be seen from the house especially during high tide. Plan to experience absolute peace and solitude with only the sounds of osprey and herons. The view offered is 180 degrees with amazing vistas of wildlife, the marina and Old House Creek. With western exposure the vistas (and sunsets)are beyond description.

A visit to the GUEST HOUSE will be memorable long after leaving Fripp Island.

              • The Guest House is perfect for two people. We have had honeymooners and welcomed others on their anniversary. It's a romantic getaway for two or it offers quiet solitude for a single guest looking for a peaceful time-out. What we love most about the Guest House location ... morning walks, viewing and hearing birds day and night, the crabbing dock nearby, sitting on the patio and viewing a starlit evening and waking to a 180 degree panoramic view of the marsh. The Guest House, itself, is newly remodeled. It has a nautical theme and is fresh, clean and spacious for two people. All your linens and bedding are supplied as well everything you'd need in a kitchen. Economically, it is the best place you will find on the island for two people. We'd love to have you visit!...moreless

I thoroughly enjoyed staying here the last week of March. The Guest House is a perfect, peaceful place to relax and feel at one with nature. It is simply and tastefully furnished with a sense of openness plus a private, glorious view from both the glass doors and deck itself. The bed and seating area comfortable; there is adequate storage space in a closet as well as several drawers. I found it easy to cook in the kitchen area, and on cold nights the heating unit worked well.

I have visited Fripp many times over the years and always wanted to stay in Fiddler’s Trace, amongst the trees, in a round house. We found this perfect spot and would love to return! The cottage is beautiful inside and out and is just right for two. The owner went above and beyond to ensure the cottage has everything one would need during the stay, including plenty of linens and very clear directions and instructions. Even the kitchen cabinets are fully-stocked with all cooking necessities. The rental price is a steal and, best of all, the cottage is pet-friendly for well-behaved canine family members (thank you so much!!). We enjoyed the view from the gorgeous, sunny deck and had fun riding around with our dog in the golf cart we rented. I wish I could live here year-round. It was so hard to leave . . .we will be back soon!

My husband and I escaped to Fripp Island for four nights after Christmas and had a wonderful time in the bungalow! Although the owners were in the house facing our door, we felt secluded, it was peaceful, and we truly enjoyed the stay! The owners were so nice, allowed our 2 dogs, and even shared their bikes with us! The deck looking over the marsh has just spectacular views! On the warm nights we sat outside and enjoyed wine from the deck. The bungalow is small but open, and plenty big for 2 adults for a few days stay. All linens were fresh and clean, and place spotless! I recommend this property and hope to be back real soon! Thanks Joan!

My wife and I did a short honeymoon (about week long) here and we both loved it. It was the off season so there were really few people to be seen. The kitchen is well set up with all amenities to include pots and pans which we used for everything from steak to cake. The bathroom is small but more than enough for two people, there isn't a lot of counter space but before the weeks end we had it worked out. Bug spray is highly advisable as mosquitoes are a trademark of South Carolina any time of year, but otherwise you can just come as you are and enjoy the tranquility. It is a short drive from the rest of civilization, there are many great restaurants and the drive in theater in town, as well as opportunities for hiking and horseback riding which we took up on. The owner was very helpful, as when we arrived we had issues getting in, but she was easily reachable by phone despite the time difference and we were inside in minutes. My wife and I are already planning on returning and spending more time here in the future, it is great for all ages looking to get away from the normal hustle and bustle, or enjoy a quiet sunset absent the hum of traffic and people.

Lovely location on the marsh, and the cottage itself is large enough for 2, but be sure to bring everything you need. Owner does not supply paper towels, toilet paper; if you run out, it's a long drive to Publix. No hair dryer, and towels are limited to 2 each for an entire week. No Fripp ammenities included, the harbor master refused to even allow us to lauch kayaks. The cottage is rustic in style, being constructed with old barn boards. It is quite charming, but the front door has authentic worm holes and cracks which allow the no-see-ums and chiggers to enter freely; no amount of bug spray deters them. Sunsets are glorious, but the bugs are so horrible that there is no way to sit outside to enjoy it. A little bit of yard clean up might bring down the bug population; they thrive in the old spanish moss and pine needles that need to be removed. We were eaten alive and came home with dozens of nasty bites. Hunting Island State park is an incredible place; don't miss it. Charleston is about an hour away and is an amazing city. Pickney Island National Wildlife Refuge is phenomenal. We saw dozens of bird species, turtles, otters, even baby alligators with their mother soaking in the sun. Overall we had a nice vacation but will not return to Fripp Island unless we stayed at a place that offered use of the facilities. It is too far away to be worth the drive.

Owner response: Owner appreciates above review! Cleaners have resupplied paper products in quantity. Extra towels have been added for a week long stay. As most know, S. Carolina is tropical especially in the summer and mosquitoes, spanish moss and pine needles are part of the S Carolina experience however we don't have chiggers in or around the Guest House. Insect repellent is the accepted protocal for all Fripp Island guests and is necessary from dusk to nightfall if you are outside. It is important to keep doors to our Guest House closed during the peak mosquitoe hours. We welcome all inquiries about staying at the Guest House on Fripp Island, in S. Carolina.
