After way too many nights in Paris we arrived to serenity and the beauty of the Loire Valley at La Briche. The other reviews are bang on and we felt very much at home and comfortable here. Thierry and Maria were very helpful with anything we required. Our three children (11, 9 and 7) played soccer, hide and seek, biked the property, and swam. They also talked at length with our neighbor the goat (le chevre). We had easy access to local towns for sightseeing and crammed many, many things into our brief stay. We have new, amazing memories. Hopefully our travels will take us back sometime in the future. What a beautiful, beautiful experience. Thank you Nahid and family! OSDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed at La Briche for 3 weeks in July 2012 with our daughters aged 8 and 10. The accommodation is clean and well cared for with a very large lounge area and superb pool and sitting out area with BBQ etc. The beds were very comfortable which is a bonus and we were delighted with the wifi and satellite tv. Thierry the caretaker who lives on site is fabulous- he helped us out with any problems and looked after the pool, rubbish etc. The owners were very friendly and the girls will always remember the night they had dinner at a real chateau thanks to Nahid and Roland's very generous hospitality- it was lovely to learn the history of the chateau as well! We found it a great base to explore the area- visits to the beautiful chateaux, stocking up at the local markets, vineyards etc...but we all enjoyed using the bikes provided to explore the grounds and paths of the property. But we will remember most the peace, tranquility and beautiful setting and we plan to return next summer.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Four of us had a wonderful stay at La Briche. The house was lovely and comfortable; the pool was the largest and nicest I have ever experienced at rental property. The massive grounds of the guesthouse and the main property were magnificent. There was more than ample space on the property to walk and ride the bikes that were provided. The green house with tomatoes, lettuce and herbs was a really nice bonus as were the fruit trees and vineyard. The local Super U in the neighboring town was a great place to buy groceries, wine and other supplies. There was a wonderful restaurant (Le Bouff’tard) in the little town of Hommes and the property is conveniently located for trips to the many Loire Valley chateaus and wineries. The large city of Tours was about 45 minutes from the property. A car is a must, but we did take a couple of days just relaxing and enjoying the house, pool and grounds. I plan to return and I am recommending this rental to family, friends and anyone looking for a truly great place to stay in the wonderful Loire Valley. I also want to thank Nahid and Thierry for their hospitality and assistance.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Chateau de la Briche. The owners made our stay extremely comfortable. They provided us with all the information we needed, were responsive to our requests and were very interesting people. The house was extremely clean and well stocked. We loved swimming in the pool, feeding the goats and picking the fresh fruits and vegetables. I would highly reoommend it to anyone looking to get away from the busy life of the city and enjoy nature. Thank you for sharing your chateau with us.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.

What an amazing place! Thank you so much for your wonderful holiday home. We had a fantastic time at La Briche. 100 Acres of chateau estate shared only with the wildlife, but with a caretaker on site if we needed any help. He looked after the pool and was very helpful whenever we had a question. The property is so spacious and well equipped... Wi-Fi, Stereo, DVDs, Pool Shower Room, Kitchen equipment, and the little touches like an ample supply of towels, shower gel and tissues, as well as the welcome bread, wine, juice and cheese on arrival all made for a really comfortable holiday. We took our own bikes and did all the marked cycle routes near to Lac de Rille and cycled part of the Loire tow path; we spent a day in the Vineyards of Vouvray; two day trips to Tours (Markets, Cafes, the "Little Train" sighseeing trip); visited 2 Chateaux (Villandray and Usee); and also spent time relaxing by the pool, which the kids, in particular, really loved. The setting of La Briche is amazing, all that space with no one else for miles!!! A totally unique experience, rural France, so much space on the estate, lovely pool, really well equipped property. Quite unexpected... definitely the best property we have rented in France.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We have just had the most idyllic stay in this beautiful house. I was prepared for the tantalising photos to perhaps not fully represent its location and facilities but the reality was so much better than I expected!! Firstly the surroundings are breath-taking and so vast - our kids couldn't believe that they had so much space to call theirs. The pool (obviously a big focus for the kids!) was beautiful and incredibly convenient being outside practically every door. Also we loved wandering through the wonderful cool woods (which was lovely on some of the hotter days) and discovering new things every time. The house itself was fautless - large, clean and very well stocked with all the essentials (plus many extras!). The owner, Nahid, was a brilliant source of help and information and nothing was too much trouble for her. We have just had our best family holiday ever and I hope we can return soon!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Chateau La Briche is a real find!. Our family ( daughter 11 and son 13) loved exploring the woods on foot and by the bicycles provided. In our weeklong stay we just began to know our way around - it is that woodsy and expansive. One evening we walked by the river and were entertained by dozens of catfish scooting around in the shallows. We caught a few small fish in the pond. The gardens area around the orangerie is half=wild, half-tended. Several acres at least. Very beautiful and a wonderful place for morning and evening walks. The caretaker is friendly, helpful and efficient. We were fortunate enough to meet the owners and spend some time together. They are a fascinating family, very gracious and friendly. Hearing the stories of the history of the estate, the construction of the mansion house, and its renovation gave us an even better appreciation for our surroundings. The orangerie house itself is comfortable, well appointed and perfect for vacation. The furniture and beds are top-notch. We found ourselves cooking more than planned, because the kitchen was convenient and comfortable. Our daughter doesn't consider a trip vacation unless there is a pool. She was very happy - it is spotlessly clean and nicely situated so that others can doze or watch the activity in the pool. The Loire Valley chateaux are fairly close by. Chambord was the farthest away at about 50 minutes. Next time we visit though, we will spend more time cooking in that kitchen, relaxing and exploring the estate. We over-committed. It was only on the last day when we let ourselves laze around the place that we realized what we had missed. Highly recommended for a family such as ours, two couples or even for a romantic and secluded getaway.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

My wife and I stayed here for a week in July 2011. We could not have been more pleased with our choice. The home itself is very comfortable and suitable either for a couple or a family. The forested grounds of the chateau are breathtaking and large enough for biking and long walks. We were even able to pick vegetables from the garden for our breakfast. We rented a car, but we rarely had to travel more than 30 miles in any direction to find beautiful chateaus, stunning gardens and picturesque villages. The hosts, Roland and Nahid, could not have been more helpful and friendly. This is an ideal way to explore the Loire Valley or just to relax in an idyllic setting.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
