Welcome to our little 2BR/1BA 1937 bungalow!
This little house is in the BEST location! It is just 7 short blocks to our beautiful waterfront park where you can enjoy one of the many 'porch swings' facing the Beaufort River. There are lots of restaurants, shops, and galleries accessible from the park and from Bay Street. The historic Point neighborhood is just 4 blocks from the house. This is a great area to wander and explore - filled with antebellum mansions where planters and their families spent summers enjoying the almost constant breezes from the river. Also - this house is such a popular rental that we have converted our other little property, Duke Cottage, to a VRBO. If this one is booked, or if you need additional space, please look at VRBO #326642.

The house is beautifully furnished with pieces from Century and Hickory White. There is a gracious dining room with a chandelier above for ambiance. One of our favorite guests is an artist and he did a small watercolor of Baby Charles while staying there - he had it framed and it hangs in the dining room.

The bathroom used to be the low point of the house, but is now totally (I mean all the way down to new floor joists and new sheetrock - TOTALLY NEW) renovated and FANTASTIC! It has a step in shower with dual shower heads each with their own control. The shower doors are thick frameless tempered glass with bright chrome fittings. In keeping with the era, the walls are white 'subway' tile and the floor is black and white mosiacs. The vanity has a beautiful granite top, and stores plenty of additional towels below. The window has an insert of frosted glass in front of it for privacy, while still allowing light into the room. It's really special. One of our guests had a painting done of the house, and it hangs in the bathroom!

The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a full size washer dryer. This winter we added shelves supported by antique metal brackets across the windows above the sink. It is a fun way to display all the plates, mugs, and glassware and it freed up cabinet space for groceries.

The Master has a queen sized bed, and the 2nd bedroom has a day bed with 2 twin mattresses. All mattresses are 2010 Sealy, and all linens are high thread count cotton. This is a very cozy, quiet little home.

For your entertainment there is a 32' Sony TV with HD cable, a DVD player with surround sound, and a VHS player. In the Master bedroom there is a CD player.

Outside, where we used to have a bocce ball court, John just finished installing a GORGEOUS antique brick patio (10' x 50') that we have furnished with Lane seating. The seating group includes a loveseat, 2 lounge chairs ottomans, and a cocktail table. There is a 'ceiling fan on a stick' to help keep the 'skeeters away and provide a breeze when there isn't one. You can now dine al fresco, as we have also added an outdoor dining table and chairs. There is plenty of shade, so no umbrellas are needed.

Pets are allowed with prior approval and a refundable security deposit. Please discuss with us the kind and size of the pet you wish to bring so that we can determine it's appropriateness.

Please check out the map for restaurant and shopping recommendations. There is a binder in the house with more info and maps and menus. Feel free to call us with any questions or recommendations!

I loved my recent stay in Beaufort, and the home was so quaint and homey. Erica was a wonderful hostess and was vey helpful in helping us have the Most enjoyable time. She gave us extensive information on places to visit, places To eat and where to shop! I can hardly wait to go back and stay again.

The home far exceeded our expectations, extremely clean and comfortable. No detail has been spared to make your stay pleasant. Everything you would need is right there and if you have any questions about the cottage or Beaufort Erica is very friendly and always willing to steer you in the right direction. Beaufort and the Sea Islands are a lovely area, a destination in itself but also convenient to Savannah and Charleston.

We just returned from 5 nights in the cottage. The cottage was so charming and beautifully furnished. The pictures don't do it justice. We have rented through VRBO and HomeAway many times before, but Erica is the most wonderful host we have ever been lucky enough to meet. No opportunity to enhance our stay was overlooked. We were greeted to classical music playing, fresh flowers and delicious baked goods. The house was so well equipped, try as we might, we could not think of a single thing we needed and couldn't find. I have never stayed in a rental where so many small items were provided; coffee and a small milk for our first morning, paper products, laundry detergent. It really was incredible. Beaufort is such a charming little town with beautiful waterfront shopping and dining. It's location made day trips to Charleston and Savannah very easy. I highly recommend "Baby Charles" to those traveling to the area. We will certainly be back, hopefully soon!

Was in Beaufort with a friend for our annual get-together. This property is a nice walk along tree lined street to shopping and waterfront and provided ample off-street parking for our cars. The cottage was spotless and comfortably appointed. Owner is very hospitable and offered many suggestions for places to eat and things to do. We would each stay there again when in Beaufort.

We had a wonderful time. The place was clean, bright and homey. There were many great restaurants within walking distance and the weather was great. The owner was pleasant and very helpful. A great place for many occasions. We stayed there when picking up our son from Marine Corps boot camp and it was a quick and easy drive to the base. I highly recommend staying here.

We felt right at home in this beautifully decorated cottage. Our every need was anticipated. Erica and John provided a detailed custom binder of current information regarding restaurants and sightseeing, as well as how to work everything in the house. The cottage is immaculate and very cozy. The outside patio and porch are very inviting and comfortable. It is in a great location. This property is a gem. Can't wait to return!

This was the best find! Baby Charles was a perfect place for my mom and I to unwind and reconnect. The kitchen was great to cook in and we loved the decor of BC. It felt like a hotel suite and not just a house. We enjoyed the porch in the morning and the side garden in the evenings. We felt safe to be 2 women staying by ourselves. The book of all the things to see and do in Beaufort was great. I cant wait to book my next visit for a girls weekend with BC and Duke next door. Thanks to Erica and John for a great stay. The cupcakes were wonderful!

My husband and I spent two nights at Baby Charles on our recent tour of the Low Country, and found it delightful. It was immaculate, comfortable and within walking distance of many of Beaufort's restaurants and sights. Erica and John have put together an exhaustive 3-ring binder of all there is to do and see in the area, which was very useful; we carried it with us when we drove around! All told, a great choice.

About the owner: As soon as our son went off to college we headed south! We looked for 6 years, focusing on the stretch of coast between Amelia Island and Charleston. We just kept coming back to Beaufort. Being downtown is such fun - we can walk and bike to everything. We love to boat and fish and the lifestyle here is perfect for that!

                          Why the Owner Chose Beaufort:
We bought this little bungalow just 6 blocks from our main house to use as an overflow guest house when we have big groups of friends come to town. We had a whole house full of furniture from my mother-in-law's house in FL to deal with, so the timing was perfect. We decided to rent it when we aren't using it, and that's what got us here!

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Baby Charles has been so popular, we bought the cottage right behind it! Have a look at VRBO #326642, Duke Cottage. The properties are adjacent so, if you need more space, consider booking them together! It is an easy walk to the waterfront and all that area offers. Great restaurants, shops, and art galleries are all right there. We keep a binder in the house filled with local info and recommendations. We also JUST added VRBO #472201 - a spectacular antebellum home we just totally renovated!
